Patrick Beverley to Have Season-Ending Wrist Surgery (UPDATE)

UPDATE: The Houston Rockets confirmed that Patrick Beverley will undergo left wrist surgery Tuesday, and miss the remainder of the regular season and Playoffs.

As feared, Patrick Beverley’s season appears to be over.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the Rockets’ starting point guard will go under the knife to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist, thus suddenly ending his year.

Houston’s front-office still believes in the team’s title chances, for what it’s worth.

Rockets guard Pat Beverley has opted to have surgery to repair ligaments in his left wrist injured last week in Indianapolis, a person with knowledge of the decision said. […] The surgery will force Beverley to miss the remainder of the season, including the post-season regardless of how far the Rockets advance in the playoffs.

The Rockets’ starting point guard the past two seasons, Beverley has had multiple injuries, struggling through last season’s playoffs with a knee injury and going out this season after two games with a hamstring injury.

Beverley will be a free agent after the season, his third since the Rockets signed him in January 2012 as a free agent playing in Russia.
