Confiscated: LeBron Facial Video

So much for a Slamadayear… Xavier sophomore Jordan Crawford dunked on LeBron James with two hands Monday night, but all tapes of the smash were soon confiscated. There’s a good chance the public will never see it: “Turns out, there were at least two cameras rolling Monday night when Crawford dunked on James during a pick-up game here at the LeBron James Skills Academy. It was a two-handed jam, the kind that would’ve circulated quickly on YouTube. But Nike officials eliminated that possibility shortly after the dunk happened by allegedly confiscating tapes from various cameramen.”

Hmm..I bet Lebron didn’t shake his hand after the game. play wit it.

IMO they made a mistake by hiding the tapes. Censorship always brings more attention. It couldn’t have been that bad, could it have been?

Sad, everything about Lebron is coming to light, won’t shake hands, saying Ariza is a liar, wears dumb shirts and got dunked on, but too prideful to let it be shown. Pride makes a man fall, Lebron you are falling faster than Shaq’s dream of another ring. This is sad and if anybody defends him, tell me were is the video at?

  • thesubwayconnection Posted: Jul.8 at 11:52 am
Agree with Tzvi. This is going to be like the Jordan I ad - only worse, because the internet’s involved.

C’mon Nike. The young man possibly read your ads for the LeBron V Shoes, “You don’t want to be me, you want to be better than me.” But guess that was just marketing, like Jordan Brand asking who’s the next one, but was ya know, a little late on that question.

  • Tyrone Shoelaces Posted: Jul.8 at 12:20 pm

  • doyouwantmore Posted: Jul.8 at 12:39 pm
Okay, wait. They CONFISCATED the fricking TAPES. He’s not the president! It’s a tape of a basketball game! I would not lose respect for Lebron seeing him get dunked on. Everyone gets dunked on. I do lose all respect for the guy at hearing that his people confiscated the tape of him getting dunked on. This guy’s a chump. Lebron is a straight chump.

  • Blinguo Posted: Jul.8 at 12:43 pm
Sucks again, since Nike used to do the “Thank you, for finally tackling Barry Sanders” commercial, and the Chris Webber barbershop kickin it with the dunk on Barkley one too.
Guess nobody else gets to have skills @ the LeBron James Skill Academy.

  • Sparker Posted: Jul.8 at 12:43 pm
sounds pretty sinister, but is this really what happened? could nike “officials” (ie. employees) really tell someone to hand over a tape in the land of the (allegedly) free and not be told to go f themselves? if it’s true, nike f-ing sucks sh*t and should be roundly abused from all sides

  • Fat Lever Posted: Jul.8 at 12:44 pm
DMA, true that. But anytime I see a headline with “facial” and “video” together, I immediately think of Paris Hilton. The ego of this dude is ridiculous. He’s human just like the rest of us, but tries to project himself as something greater. We all fall at some point. Some of our falls are greater than others, but we fall nonetheless. Man up Lebron and accept the fact that we all fail at some point in our lives. And getting dunked on like that for the first time in your life(presumably) when you’re one of the top 3 bball players on the planet isn’t that much of a big deal. He’s coming off real diva-like lately.

  • Fernando S Posted: Jul.8 at 12:45 pm

Witness the manbearpig of Lebron James. What a b1tch. Great story for the kid though lol. “I dunked on Bron but he got scared to show the tape to people and exec’s from Nike had to cover up the story more then the shooting of JK”

This is great though lol. To be honest, I wish Kobe did this. Because we would be at about 4000 comments and how bad of a person Kobe is and how his ego is too big lol. Just like the shot against Houston. Kobe looks into the Crowd and he is a coclBron conversation, let’s go!!

  • Eboy Posted: Jul.8 at 1:03 pm
I guess it could be worse for Lebron. He could have his ankles broke by a guy like Beno Udrich and have it EVERYWHERE for all to see and laugh at. Not sure what would be the lesser of the two evils.

  • The Seed Posted: Jul.8 at 1:11 pm
Getting Dunked on is worse and Lebron needs to step up, Defensive Player of the Year number 2 this year was a joke, Lebron forgot he was not in the NBA, blocking people from behind on layups does not count when you are playing a sophomore in college named Jordan Crawford.

wow. some ppl have a personal vendetta. has it been known or proved that bron had ANYTHING to do with the tapes? yeah, it’s lame but the hate should be geared towards the nike reps, no? perspective, folks. / why did i know that the seed and james the balla would JUMP on this?

  • CJK Posted: Jul.8 at 2:02 pm
LOL Russ that was amazing… anyways LeBron has to step it up and tell Nike they can release those tapes. Obviously they won’t because it will make their phenom look bad.. They would just say they are saving them for a Jordan Crawford commercial in case he ever makes the L. Still they have no right to take those tapes away. LeBron is probly sick of all the bad rep after those puppet commercials where Kobe taunts him lol.

  • Riggs Posted: Jul.8 at 2:02 pm
The better question would be Z how did they jump off of something else to jump on this

  • Myles Brown Posted: Jul.8 at 2:04 pm
“Freelance photographer Ryan Miller was one of the cameramen shooting the game. He told CBSSports.com that Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt tokk his tape. ‘Hejust said, ‘We have to take you tape,’ Miller said ‘They took it from other guys too’ Worth noting is that there is no policy against filming at the Skills Academy, where Miller said he had been filming all daywithout incident….. “LeBron called Lynn over and told him something,” Miller said. ‘Thats how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, ‘Hey Lynn. Come here” Minutes later, Miller said Merritt demanded his tape……

  • Myles Brown Posted: Jul.8 at 2:05 pm

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 2:12 pm
could be incriminating, but thats not proof. what did bron and the nike rep talk about? can you really say that it was bron’s decision to take away the tape from the the photog’s statement?

  • underdog Posted: Jul.8 at 2:42 pm

Yeah I’m liking lebron less and less.

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 3:04 pm
for some reason, i’m even more of a fan now that a lot of ppl have decided that the proverbial media is slurping him too much and they had to give him hate to even it out. it makes it more fun to engage in spirited debates about controversial/outrageous/criminal/world-changing things like handshakes, humourous t-shirts, and pick-up game tapes.

  • Pardeep Posted: Jul.8 at 3:05 pm
This is pathetic if this was Kobe we would probably be at 565 comments right now. LeBron’s a pusy

  • Prison Mike Posted: Jul.8 at 3:09 pm
This would have blown over in a week. Now fans are gonna have “destroy the tapes” signs every time Bron misses a shot for the rest of his career.

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Jul.8 at 3:15 pm
I hear TNT and ESPN have just agreed to show all Cavs games on tape delay next year.

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 3:20 pm
No Pardeep, if this was Kobe, he would be in JAIL right now. No wait, he wouldn’t even go to jail… straight to the CHAIR. Man, this Kobe guy… he never has it easy with the media.

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Jul.8 at 3:28 pm
The common perception of Kobe is “oh, he’s so fake.” But who manipulates their image (or has their image manipulated) more? People draw their conclusions first and use available facts to support whatever those conclusions are. Self included.

  • Zee! Posted: Jul.8 at 5:04 pm
Eboy, at least Beno is in the league. Bron is getting boomed on by college kids. What’s really worse? Lake Show all day.

  • wayno Posted: Jul.8 at 5:11 pm
I gotta agree with Z here…My first reaction to this was “wow, those Nike guys are tools”. There is absolutely nothing pointing to the fact that LeBron had anything to do with it. There isn’t anything that says he didn’t have anything to do with it either though…It is potentially incriminating, but lets not pass judgement on it until we have all the facts.

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 5:12 pm
Good point, Russ. I’d include myself as well. You brought up two separate things though. 1- Even I can pretend that LBJ is not as much of a control freak over his image as Kobe is (and Myles can attest that I’m prolly the biggest Lebron apologist on this site). 2- What has always been perceived as ‘fake’ by the media are Kobe’s interactions with other ballplayers and with the media itself. I’ve never even seen the guy in person yet, but Bron’s interactions - with other players especially - seem to be genuine and cordial. Even someone like Hughes who hated his time in Cleveland and his role in the offense had nothing but praises for him. I don’t know of a single NBA player that had something bad to say about Bron’s personality except Deshawn (and he has his own issues to deal with). Even with the handshake thing, there’s not a single Orlando guy that commented on it, it was a media-driven controversy from start to finish. So control freak, yeah for sure, but I don’t know about ‘fake’.

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 5:13 pm
‘Eboy, at least Beno is in the league. Bron is getting boomed on by college kids. What’s really worse? Lake Show all day.’… It’s comments like these that kill a healthy convo.

  • wayno Posted: Jul.8 at 5:15 pm
I’m still not sure why the people gave this guy the tapes though. If I got that on tape there’s no way I give it away. I’d make them beat me down then sue thier @$$.

  • bballer Posted: Jul.8 at 5:23 pm
Nike is wack, its not like Bron is unfallable or unstopable. the guy will get dunked on sometime. he gets blocled too, Dwight did it in the playoffs

    I hate getting blocled…

  • Jeff Fox Posted: Jul.8 at 5:39 pm

  • Piggy Posted: Jul.8 at 5:45 pm

  • Sparker Posted: Jul.8 at 6:06 pm
it’s actually one of the craziest sensations in the game, as it’s usually the speed of it (rather than the height of it) that leaves you at least temporarily bewildered. basically, if it doesn’t happen super fast, you can often stop it from happening… so when it does, you always have that few moments of… wtf just happened? too bad we’ll never get to see that look on lebrownstain’s face

  • wayno Posted: Jul.8 at 6:11 pm

i mena dude has “witness” on his leg, “chosen 1″ on his back, wears “check my $tats” shirt, “LBJ MVP” shirt(like the Run DMC shirts.

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 7:13 pm
the fact that courtney lee dunked on him twice is actually a testament to his defensive commitment. 95% of the guys in the L would have let him get those break away dunks because of a lack of hustle or fear of being posterized. he chased him down to try to save two points like he did on countless occasions during the year. ya’ll hating.

  • wayno Posted: Jul.8 at 7:26 pm

  • Fat Lever Posted: Jul.8 at 8:06 pm
Z, you think the Orlando players are going to say something bad about the so called “King” of the league? You’re crazy. Lebron is already getting the Jordan treatment, without the rings. Not only does Bron have ESPN in his back pocket, he’s got D Stern too. Stern knows where his bread is coming from, and Lebron holds the most weight. C’mon man, there’s a difference between being a true fan and being delusional. If dude is wrong, he’s wrong, no matter what.

  • serevei Posted: Jul.8 at 8:07 pm

  • Fat Lever Posted: Jul.8 at 8:08 pm
Bron also has other media outlets/magazines in his back pocket. Not mentioning any names, but Slam has been pretty impartial when it comes to the so-called “King”, I think.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.8 at 8:34 pm
@ Z: LeBron gets dunked on. Leave it at that. You don’t see people congratulating Hakeem for getting posterized by Kevin Johnson. OH, HAKEEM WAS JUST PLAYING SOME HELP DEFENSE THERE, HE SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR THAT. No offense, but come on now!

  • Darnell Posted: Jul.8 at 9:13 pm
Hey man think about this, its a skills academy hosted by Lebron & Nike for young upcoming players, giving them tips, Lebron giving some of his moves, instructions & tricks etc. Now this kid comes along and dunks on the “Host” in a pick up game, embarassing, slap in the face, of course. Its like YOUR birthday party but your brother gets all the attention from the guests and friends, would you enjoy that, of course not, would you want to look at the party tape later, of course not. Now I’m not defended Lebron’s actions, it is kinda childish, knowing he is a superstar & professional but you could see why he/Nike did it.

Is Wade a b!tcha– as well, then? He didn’t shake hands after the Heat got tossed. Why wasn’t that a story? Is it a coincidence that the ones highlighting those ‘incidents’ are always Lakers fans? (myles, b. long, the seed, james the balla, etc) again, holla at me when lebron gets accused, arrested or is ordered to show up in a court of law. (like many of his fellow all-stars, wade, kobe and melo included)

  • Z Posted: Jul.8 at 10:22 pm
A representative with Nike, which runs the camp at the University of Akron in James’ hometown, made no mention of Crawford’s dunk. He said the tapes were confiscated because videotaping of after-hours pickup games at the camp is not allowed. “Nike has been operating basketball camps for the benefit of young athletes for decades and has long-standing policies as to what events are open and closed to media coverage. Unfortunately, for the first time in four years, two journalists did not respect our no videotaping policy at an after-hours pickup game following the LeBron James Skills Academy,” said Nike spokesman Derek Kent on Wednesday. – While it is true that the PR rep seems to be putting a spin on the story. It is true that I have NEVER seen any footage of the pickup games at his camp. It could be possible that they didn’t have any right to film the scrimmage. Dunk or no dunk.

^Did you read that, Z? Your obviously new around here so let me learn ya on a couple of things.
1.My name ain’t dick so keep it out ya mouth.
2.Just because I’m a Lakers fan doesn’t mean that I hate LeBron, I love watching him play, but just like some dumb sh!t Kobe, DWade, and others have done in the past pisses me off so does this. As big of a Laker fan as I am I’ll be the first to admit that Kobe has acted like a b!tch several times in the past and if you can’t see how LeBron is being one now there is possibly no hope for you.

LeBron shows again what a great role model he is! This is a joke. He should be aware that millions of people look up to him across the world, and actions like these and not shaking the Magic players hands after being beaten in ECF imprints on kids all over showing them that “oh, if we wanna be like LeBron, we gotta do this” Man up LeBron

  • Logan Posted: Jul.9 at 3:26 am
By not showing the dunk the status of that dunk changes from ‘good’ to ‘god know how amazing it was’. This is really weak by Lebron and Nike. I have been in media for years and of a particular event is not supposed to be filmed, you are not even allowed to get cameras in, let alone shoot the whole thing before being told not to film and confisticating the tape is staight up media control. Everyone gets dunked on if you play defense. Sometimes you get crossed over. The best response is to get em back in the game, not act like a backyard bully. Very dissapointed. Lebron, you gotta come back strong and man up.

    Queen LeBroom … LOW CLASS

  • ngoiekafita Posted: Jul.9 at 6:14 am
Is it Bron himself who asked for the tape to get confiscated? Or Nike?
Either way, I don’t think Bron wouldn’t mind a kid catching some shine by dunking on him.
(i bet he def wouldn’t mind to return him the favor when giving the chance)
People tend to forget that superstars live under a microscope and we’re the eager scientists.
    He’s

  • ngoiekafita Posted: Jul.9 at 6:21 am
just a human who just happens to make a lil’ bit more cash than us (ok, a lot more)
Besides even Shaq, Dwight, The Admiral and Mike got dunked on.
If you play some good help D, $hit like that might happen.
That bein said: Bron, in the word of Sticky Fingaz: MAN UP and show young Jordan Crawford wy he’s just a witness and he might end up on the wrong side of a poster!!!

  • Dacre Posted: Jul.9 at 8:26 am
    Hmmm..LeBron just lost some cred.

  • FrenchKiss Posted: Jul.9 at 8:33 am
Jordan Crawford should get a “Check my fa¢ial” tee.

  • Esco Posted: Jul.9 at 8:50 am
    @ FrenchKiss: Pause.

  • FrenchKiss Posted: Jul.9 at 9:01 am
@Esco: Yeah with a nice drippy font.

  • Esco Posted: Jul.9 at 9:18 am
Lol. To the Pause Police: “Officer, arrest this man.”

  • Spaceship Jay Posted: Jul.9 at 9:54 am
Mutoni said what I was going to say already about the CP3 and LeBron pick-up game tape. What LeBron or Nike wants to do is their business. I do feel though like taking the tapes says more on Nike and/or LeBron’s part than showing the footage, especially since it’s been proven that the statement about Nike and filming pick-up games is false. Much more.

  • [...] LeBron Confiscates Dunk [...]

  • wayno Posted: Jul.9 at 10:53 am
Still don’t know is LeBron had anything to do with it people…c’mon now.

  • wayno Posted: Jul.9 at 10:55 am
People who have seen my posts know I’m anything but a LeBron apologist, but seriously people, this isn’t that big of a deal. If LeBron had something to do with it it was a b!tch move, but none the less, a non-issue. All we know is that nike took the tapes though! There is nothing there to suggest LeBron’s involvment.

  • Fat Lever Posted: Jul.9 at 11:31 am
The intersting thing is, ok if they’re not allowed to film pickup games, then why were the tapes confiscated as soon as the dunk happened? I’m pretty sure if they weren’t allowed to film pickup games, there had to have been on the court action prior to the dunk, and it can’t be that hard to see 2, TWO!, guys filming what’s happening on the court. So, if there’s a good minimum 5-10 mins of action prior to the dunk, then we know that excuse by the rep is BS.

  • Chendaddy Posted: Jul.9 at 11:52 am
Well now you gotta show it. The only thing more embarrassing than an NBA superstar getting dunked on by a high school kid is everyone finding out the superstar’s people were so embarrassed, they confiscated all the tapes. I’m starting to think LeBron has a fragile ego. That same year he dunked on Tim Duncan and glared at him, a few games later, Sean May dunked on him, then glared at him on the ground. Did he do anything? Nope. Come on, LeBron, even Andrew Bynum had the grapes to dish it back out when he got dunked on, and he got dunked on by SHAQ.

  • Chendaddy Posted: Jul.9 at 11:53 am
    Uh, my comment got confiscated.

  • Sparker Posted: Jul.9 at 12:22 pm
    NO WITNESSES
nike someone needs to put this on a t-shirt

  • Allenp Posted: Jul.9 at 12:48 pm
Why are people trying to figure out whether Nike is telling the truth?
    It’s Nike.
    Lying is their business.

  • Mykaveli21 Posted: Jul.9 at 1:11 pm
Damage Control: Objective #1– Show the Tape! You saw what a tape did for Kim Kardashian! Give the young boy some shine! Hard to tell im a LBJ fan but Im fed up!

  • tavoris Posted: Jul.9 at 1:26 pm
Nike is giving Lebron the same treatment they gave MJ during his career.

  • you already know. Posted: Jul.9 at 2:05 pm

i love how nike makes up that crap about not being able to tape afterwards pick up games, but they wouldve never said anything or took the tapes until james got dunked on

  • NICK KALATHES Posted: Jul.9 at 2:33 pm
    @Russ….:the 1:30pm comment was REALLY good…

  • BostonBaller Posted: Jul.9 at 3:17 pm
The dunk probably wasn’t that bad but James is probably thinking that a non NBA player can’t get a rep off of him. It’s crazy but maybe he thinks he is really a KING and this whole Witniss thing is getting out of hand. Don’t blame Nike, they were just following orders from their cash cow. Jordan didn’t care that one of the old men in his camp a few years ago beat him on film. It was shown all over the place although the guy wouldn’t accept a rematch b/c he knew Jordan would really play hard the 2nd time.

  • styliztik_jones Posted: Jul.9 at 4:51 pm
This is bogus by LeBroom….his new nickname should officially be “The Confiscator”

  • glaze Posted: Jul.9 at 8:00 pm
Lebron’s really starting to show his true colors. He has no problem clowning , dancing, and having fun at other players expense. But as we all saw in the playoffs. He can’t take it when the shoe is on the other foot. When he’s hitting halfcourt shots he’s looking for the closet camera. Lose in the playoffs and he’s the first out the door. Now he doesn’t wanna be in filmed getting dunk. B×tch move. WITNESS that

  • glaze Posted: Jul.9 at 8:04 pm
Lebron just got demoted to royal jester

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Jul.9 at 8:27 pm

  • Lz - Cphfinest3 Posted: Jul.9 at 11:44 pm
I’m a big LeBron fan. But boy is that a weak move. Man up, Mr. James.

  • Kamran Posted: Jul.10 at 1:09 am
i would bet money if any OTHER star in the nba had this happened to him he would laugh it up and just go up and admit it. lebron cant admit anything, hes a sore loser and a guy who too away a young guys dream. hes sucks on and off the court check his fingers aint got noo ring

If this has been their policy for years, then how come i have seen LeBron playing in the nike camp in 2005 without any cameras taken out?If LeBron would have been shining, then it would have been on nba.com in 5 minutes.I dont think it weould have been a too big of a deal if the video would on youtube and stuff, but LeBron doesnt want the tape to leak?Thats ridicilous.Courtney Lee dunked on him during the conference final and that was shown in the highlights quite a few times.

  • FrenchKiss Posted: Jul.10 at 9:27 am
    That .gif provided the lulz.

  • Jazz Man Posted: Jul.10 at 9:48 am
LEBRON GOT HYPERDUNKED…I recall it like it was yesterday. Jordan Crawford was sitting on the bleachers putting on these shoes no one had ever seen before. The losing team was 1 man short so Lebron calls out the so called scrub (Jordan) and said pick the scrub. With the score 3-4 in favor of Lebrons team when the unthinkable happens!!! Some unknow players get crossed up and Jordan has an open lane…..Just when Lebron thought his famous help side defense would stop him…Jordan rises and lays the two handed smack down jam on PRINCE JAMES AKA THE CHOKING ONE AKA BEAT ME IN HORSE AKA I HAVE TO WAIT FOR KOBE TO RETIRE TO BE KING!!!! Ha Ha Ha…This is going to take him 3 months to recover!!!

  • glaze Posted: Jul.10 at 10:06 am
It was nike policy only after lebron got dunked on.

  • Jeff Fox Posted: Jul.10 at 10:13 am
