Josh Selby’s Eligibility Questioned

It’s been a tough week for the next generation of ball players. First Will Barton had his eligibility come into question. Now Josh Selby finds himself in a similar situation. ESPN reports: A report by CBSsports.com indicated the NCAA was questioning a relationship between Selby and Robert Frazier, the business manager for NBA star Carmelo Anthony. Selby, a point guard from Baltimore, has been listed by some services as the No. 1 recruit in the country. Self, who was out of town, issued a statement. ‘I have received several calls about the article,’ he said. ‘As has been mentioned previously, we do not comment on recruits until they arrive on campus for the fall semester. I will say, as we have experienced in the past in our program, it is not at all unusual for the NCAA to look into many of the country’s top-rated recruits each year for any number of reasons.’ Selby’s mother was quoted by the Lawrence Journal-World as saying she did not see any problems with the NCAA.”

Word around Baltimore is the agent helped Selby and his mom out financially also. Even kept the Mercedes gas tank on full. I feel for KU but they took the player knowing he was dealing with a agent not to mention Selby went to a lot of high schools like Barton

man….this is just stupid, all the NCAA wants to do is enforce there authority on these young men. Its so stupid, its the same stupid stuff in football- all they want to do is make sure that they have their hands on every penny. With the current state of this gustapo-like NCAA player harrasment, I can see why all of these kids don’t want to see more than 1 year of college. cant blame them a lick

kids no what to do and what not to. if they cant wait one year to get their paycheck they deserve to be punished

a year for a middle class person might be nothing but some of those kids you mention have to survive extreme conditions i dont blame those kids for taking what their given and ncaa is going to have to regulate agents and people helping these athletes out and not punish the athletes or we will see more B Jennings route to the nba and less talent for the college game

If this is surrounded by good, well meaning and honest people he’ll go alright, as most of us should do… but if this guy is just someone elses meal ticket, look out below.

In one sense or another they all become someones’ meal ticket, ie the NCAA, their university, the AD…..

It’s just the NCAA ignornace Bay Frazier is not by any means an agent. He’s just a basketball head who is looking out for a fellow baltimorean. Funny programsn like Duke and Carolina never get questiong about their recruits. I guess because not many come from the INNER CITY.
