Here it is, 18 months later, and fans across globe have gotten a chance to watch Lance Stephenson play. The hype was set at a high level after Lance appeared with John Wall on cover of Ish 128. Did he live up to his lofty ‘Born Ready’ handle? Maybe not. The more pertinent question is: Did he need to?

Last time we checked, not many freshmen average 12.3 points and 5.4 boards per. He’ll be back next season, and that’s not a bad place to start.

Good job Lance. I’m so proud of U. Ur making ur Family very proud. It gave me joy watching U compete in the Big east. What I was even more proud of is How U competed in the classroom . A 3.4 GPA was far more impressive. I really miss being in the stands cheering U on. Can’t wait for the day I can be @ all ur games like the good old days. I knoW U will never see this post but I had to post it in case one day U decide to read an article about U. Keep up the good work and remember NO CEILINGS

he was nice this season…the team struggled with inconsistencies tho,,,they all come back nxt yr mostly…theyll b good…lance will work himself into the lottery if he learns to play a tad less selfishly…but did u see HIM AGAINST WVU???

Lance can go as far as he wants to go. His second year in college is gonna make people say: “Man this guy is awesome!” Those of us who have followed him and have faith in him will say: Yeah I’ve always known that.

Lance is good but needs a few years in college. He got to work on his jumper and needs to get better on defense. Overall he had a solid season.
By the way, this kid Evan Nolte is a rising junior who people need to know about. Check him out @ http://courtcred.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1688&catid=42&Itemid=44

Big fan of his. Coney Island’s finest!

Lance had a solid year considering the weak coaching and subpar players surrounding. Deon Dixon is the perfect example, with his bone-headed play during the Big East tournament. On the other hand, if someone can get Yancy Gates to be more assertive and energetic, watch out for the Bearcats next year. They were an underachieving and undisciplined team in 2009-2010. I’m betting that Lance Stephenson will be a 25ppg 8 rebs 5 assts All American next season.

I’m a Maryland fan. When rumors spread about a big-time recruit actually considering signing with the Terps–because Gary NEVER gets a big-time recruit–I naturally became really excited…

    Until I watched him play.

6’5″, built like a man? Definitely. But his jumper, at best, is extremely streaky. Compared to other players at his position–if he even has one–he has sub-standard athleticism and sub-standard quickness. And, those New York playground legends have ridiculous egos. How is “Born Ready” any different?

@Jahi: Stephenson will not go for 25-8-5 for a Bearcats’ team that will have limited possessions offensively because of their style. Another year in college will do him some good, but I really think he peaked when he was 15.

I’m not that impressed with his game either. Not that it matters. But, what I am impressed with is his grade point average. Not that that matters, either. But…….

    Shout out to Kinnard Winchester.

He should watch a lot of Evan Turner tape. Similar body type and skillset. He could be just as good.

  • Monstarzz

He’s the man. Can’t wait to see him and reke match up again in the pros.

Lance Stephenson won city basketball championships in all four years of high school, is New York State’s all-time leading scorer in high school basketball, and was named to the McDonald’s All-American Team in 2009.Also he already finish one year of college and going back to University of Cincinnati to play for them again. He was the top player and highest scorer for Cincinnati this season.Cincinnati’s Lance Stephenson won the Big Est Preseason Rookie of the Year award and the regular season Rookie of the Year award, nudging out Rutgers’ Dane Miller. He averaged 12.0 points per game, best of any freshman. He also had about a 3.4 or 3.5 GPA.Also with another of college he will graduated with an Associate degree and he wibe be ready for the NBA because he is Born Ready and two years in college will be a enough for him to work on his game.Good Job Lance and you made a good decicion to stay in college.

  • Mr. West

I wish he stays for 4 years. That’s a bit selfish but he’s the only bright spot in the team right now. I hope he turns out to be a Brandon Roy-Evan Turner type of player.

  • darrell gails

Lance made a smart move to stay in college. Some kids that come in with that kind of hype feel they have to make the jump. He just earned himself an extra few million on his first rookie contract. Do yo thang pimp

  • Sparty’s Law

Unless you’re talking about by the first round of the draft, in which case, he will be ignored.

  • black

He just declared for the draft!

  • http://twincityslim@yahoo.com Jahi

Bed decision to leave early. Hopefully, he won’t hire an agent. If he returns for his sophmore season, 20/8/5 is a realistic stat line.

  • Benjamin Gordesky

Go Lance. I hope he has a great NBA career once he warms up to the league, and go bearcats!!!
