Miami Nice

A special LeBron 8 debuts at Miami’s HOH.

by Chris O’Leary/@olearychris

Foot Locker’s House of Hoops has taken its talents to South Beach.*

Miami Dadeland’s House of Hoops opening on Saturday will be a King-sized event. LeBron James will be on hand, complete with the debut of a special edition of his LeBron 8 sneaker.

The LeBron 8 South Beach, complete in a Warholian pop art colorway, will be made available on Saturday. Before the shoes are available though, LBJ will speak with 100 local youths. Topics will include achieving success on the basketball court, preparing for the upcoming season, the inspiration behind his newest shoe and if Warholian is in fact a word (tip: I made the last part up).

The vitals for those of you in the area:
Saturday, Oct. 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at House of Hoops by Foot Locker, in Miami’s Dadeland Mall.
LBJ 8 Miami 1LBJ 8 Miami 2LBJ 8 Miami 3

*That may well be the last time I make a South Beach joke. It’s getting a little bit played out, isn’t it?

They’d look gangsta walking around Coconut Grove or Bayside before a game.

  • JTaylor21

Them ish hotter than a firecracker. Can’t wait for them to come out but gonna have to wait about a month cuz MIA gets it first.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

I wish I had more hands, so I could give them s**ts 4 thunbs down…

    Cosign on BCraw.

    Hate! Hate! Hate! Hate!

It’s interesting how people’s rooting interests can fool them into thinking that shoe or colorway is anything less than whack

  • http://slamonline.com Nella

Correction – anything MORE than whack

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

If you lived in South Florida, you’d understand. You don’t, so you can’t. Move along.

  • http://slamonline.com Nella

I get it, it’s very Miami. But you get ANY shoe in that theme. The VIII is not a good looking shoe, from the sole to the upper to the work boot shape. Good luck wearing it out on the town. Its a performance shoe, made for Lebron. It is not a kick people will be asking to retro 5 years from now.

  • T-Money

The tongue is REALLY high, I’m not sure how comfortable that would be to hoop in.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

These are nice. But I’ll tell y’all they’re coming up again with a Knicks colorway for the AMLVIII which looks nicer. Visit nikelebronDOTnet for more.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

Besides the 7, will any of his shoes be retro’d? Probably not…

  • http://slamonline.com Chris O’Leary

I think the IV would be retroed. And probably the Zoom Generation. I liked the V a lot as well.

  • JTaylor21

You guys are joking right? The 8s are the BEST bron shoes in my opinion, people actually said they are the lightest ones yet; the chinese version, this one, the all-black joints and the knicks CW are all fire.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

@JT21: Your LeBron fandom has been noted, but give me a break…these are NOT what’s up.
@Chris: The 4 and the Zoom Generation were horrible, IMO. The LeBron 2 was pretty dope, although I’ve never owned a single pair of his sigs.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

JTaylor: No. The VI are the lightest and AZG’s. But if you include Soldiers, its the Soldier III..

  • http://slamonline.com Chris O’Leary

@Bryan The IVs were heavy but so comfortable. The materials and the colorways were the best I’ve seen out of anything in the line thus far. I’ve never owned a pair of Zoom Generations, but if they’re gonna retro anything from that line, you’d think they’d have to go back to the beginning. I’m not feeling this colorway of the 8, but I’m sure I’ll grab one when the right color comes along.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

I’ve never owned a pair of Lebron’s either. But the only one I’d probably get is the Lebron IV’s. The 7′s were not bad either.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

Bryan: 1, 2, 4, and 7 I think.. But seing the shoe game now I guess everything is gonna get retro’d.. I’m not gonna be surprised if I saw Lebron fusions like what they did with J’s which looks horrible. Imagine a Lebron 4.5? Yuck..

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

@Chris: Heavy, yet comfortable seems a bit of an odd match, but I’ll take your word for it. The colorways were nice, I have to admit, but I’m not a fan of hooping in “boots” and the shoes just aren’t aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

@J: LeBron fusions? Ugh, you just made me sick. Thanks, bro!

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

@ Chris: visit the site I’ve posted to see some other CW’s. Hope you’d like some.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

Anyway, looks-wise, The VII is very fantastic. That’s iconic.. (Red Carpet CW anyone?) In terms of performance, I’ve never had a pair of IV’s but they say its one of the best ever. IMO, performance wise, Soldier III for me.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

@ Bryan: Don’t worry it won’t happen anytime soon lol.

  • http://slamonline.com Chris O’Leary

@J, I’m a big fan of the nikelebron site, it’s like an almanac of LBJ’s line. Really good stuff. I’m also a big fan of the VII. I picked up the cool greys this summer and love them. Seeing all the pro-Cleveland stuff on the box kind of throws you off now, though.

  • T-Money

BC: You didn’t cop the VIIs?! You missed out, those kicks were boss: stylish and super comfy.

  • http://slamonline.com Bryan Crawford

@T-Money: It’s two-fold with me. One, because it’s LeBron, I refuse to wear his shoes. Two, yes, the 7′s were the dopest looking in the entire line so far, but it’s LeBron…and I refuse to wear his shoes. I did try them on if that counts for anything.

color is cool, but the design is meh.

  • Yo DADDY LeBeatch

Didn’t Perez Hilton wear a pair of those to the Finals last year?

    not feelin it

I’m from Miami so I understand the color way, my favorite Brons where the II’s, a very good performance shoe. I don’t know about these VIII’s performance wise, because I have been going to light weight shoes as of late. But I bought some air max’s last week and there not as heavy as they use to be. And the cushioning is unbelievable.

  • http://bouncemag.com LowerEastScribe

    LMAO at Bryan’s first comment.

  • F

i am from miami, but regardless of where i live i love the colorway. and i have been buying lebrons for a while

I have the 3,4,5,7 and i have to say the 3′s are the nicest looking in my opinion, the 4′ are extremely comfortable, and one of the first shoes to feature NO MIDSOLE, THE ZOOM AIR IS IN THE INSOLE, and it has for support but it weighs foamposite, 5′s have very good zoom on the heel and forefoot and mid-foot strap for lockdown. haven’t played with the 7′s yet but wearing them casually they are pretty light from full air max units and exceptionally comfortable.

so will this be a general release or limited?

  • Benjamin Stone

F@#$ the colorway. Could care less about that, even though it is fugly. Bottom line: The shoe is horribly designed from the ground up. It’s a lazy, downgraded rehash of the VII, which was one of the most beautiful shoe designs of the past 10 years. Way to take a step back, guys, SMH…

They are different I like em….. wish were sold in P.G or Baltimore

LeBoob’s using kids as pawns in his marketing again, eh? What a jerk. Ugly shoes for an ugly man.

So, who to you, is a handsome man??

^Chris Webber? But then again no one asked me…

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

I liked the VII’s more than these. These look too similar to the VII’s but with a slightly different upper. Was expecting more from the VIII’s with a brand new beginning with LBJ in Miami.

  • Clay

8/10 These are dope. Colorway is unique. Would look good with shorts, so probably better in a hot city ie: SOUTH BEACH

  • Hussman25

Like the shoe, but never been a fan of Bron’s shoes… so Ill pass
