Gallery: Shaq’s Kicksology

The big man is hoping for an early April return. We take you back.

He came into the League as a rapping, acting, Reebok-wearing, Pepsi-drinking, breakdancing 20-year-old who was pretty good at basketball, too. In many ways, Shaquille O’Neal paved the way for business-minded players like LeBron James. Michael Jordan may have been the first person to endorse everything but condoms (you’re welcome for that link—check pg. 50), but it took him a championship or two to get to that point. Shaq broke into the L with Wilt-like potential and instantly had a $70-million deal with Reebok. He was also letting the poor sap(s) who wrote the script for Kazaam earn a living. Shaq’s tenure with Reebok was a short one, but he’s always had attention-grabbing sneaks on his feet, regardless of the brand.

    Shaq vs. Sir Charles.
    Forgot the year.
…matter of fact…it wasn’t even a fight. Chuck flings rock at Shaq’s grill…wrestling ensues…PLENTY OF LAUGHTER AT HOME WATCHING!
    Game continues.

Just before he retired, Barkley picked a fight with Shaq and it was awesome. Something else to find on YouTube is a clip of Shaq taking a swing at Brad Miller. Both parties are extremely lucky Shaq missed.

“Crazy fists. I’m comin’ with crazy fists.”

  • Enigmatic Posted: Mar.31 at 3:15 pm
Scott Skiles was ready to whoop that a** in practice once.

  • D-Block Posted: Mar.31 at 3:29 pm
LOL @ Shaq’s fun sized superman tattoo.

  • M Cho Posted: Mar.31 at 4:00 pm
Pic #3 is amazing. Wouldn’t want to face that trio in any competition.

  • Enigmatic Posted: Mar.31 at 4:29 pm
    Co-sign M Cho.
The three best centers of the 90′s.
    Sorry, Chewing.

  • Charles Posted: Mar.31 at 5:38 pm
What happened between him and reebok?

  • Saviour Posted: Mar.31 at 6:24 pm
Charles….nothing happened, they basically didn’t sell enough units and decided to drop him. There’s a few articles online about it. Google is your friend for any question in life.

For such a great player, dude wore some BS on his feet. Shaqnosis aside.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Mar.31 at 7:08 pm
@ Chris O’Leary: When Shaq took a swing at Brad Miller, he probably overlooked Brad’s back-up… He had two of the baddest guys in the league, Ron Artest and Charles Oakley, watching his back. Not a surprise the two of them tackled Shaq right after the swing.

  • Chris O'Leary Posted: Mar.31 at 7:41 pm
@Teddy I watched the video again this afternoon and thought it was funny that Oak and Artest were there, but not the stars of the show. Looking back, I think Oak knew that he had to get Shaq under control in some way asap. He had too much strength to just haul off and hit someone, you know?

We all know the Dream Team was great but that Cerberus the ’96 Team had was the best pivot combination on any version of Team USA.

  • Spursnation Posted: Mar.31 at 9:47 pm
Get it straight buddy, this is a 15 time all-star. Not a 12-timer

  • add Posted: Mar.31 at 10:48 pm
    gotta love the shoes

  • Desert Storm Posted: Mar.31 at 11:24 pm
    Saviour’s google remark ftw

  • T Bone Posted: Apr.1 at 1:35 am
@Roberto; i got that reference! was the 1st thing i though of also!

  • Chris O'Leary Posted: Apr.1 at 1:41 am
    @spursnation. I’d call it a half-bad, not a full-on my bad. He’s played in 12 ASGs, was selected for 15. Good catch.

  • BlackPhantom Posted: Apr.1 at 2:27 am
@AirGod Shaq vs. Sir Charles happened in the 99-2000 season- Barkley’s last.

  • AirGod Posted: Apr.1 at 11:47 am
    @BlackPhantom:
Riiiight, not to long before the Chuckster blew out his knee…Thank you for F5′ing my memory!

  • truthteller Posted: Apr.1 at 4:49 pm

BREAKING NEWs!!!! A.C. Green got laid!!!!!

  • HAMMER Posted: Apr.3 at 1:26 pm
Ahhhh…..the hideous Shaqnosis. I liked all his Reebok kicks ‘cept those

  • jimmer Posted: Apr.3 at 2:34 pm
Ref ’96 Dream Team – I’ll never forget Lenny Wilkins say it’d be fun to put all three pivots in at once “Have Hakeem play a little guard, David in at the forward, maybe Shaq in at centre. It would be fun” A very succinct way of summarising the natural basketball skills of each player, before Shaq just became by default the best big man (re only legit big man) in the L.

  • Drew Posted: Apr.4 at 7:47 pm
He seriously wore some garbage on his feet.

  • EJ Posted: Apr.5 at 8:30 am
Shaq was checking Z’s ass out on pic 19

  • humanomaly Posted: Apr.5 at 4:14 pm
It’s an all-star game but I’m surprised KG isn’t trying to “punk” Shaq…..KG….built like a thermometer when he came into the league, strangest looking body….

  • humanomaly Posted: Apr.5 at 4:16 pm
Penny shoes were high quality, like the Lebron’s of today, and the “Vicks” before the bad news…they were a bit tight, narrow….

  • humanomaly Posted: Apr.5 at 4:33 pm
The Kobe Shoe on the left of the picture is beautiful…ON KOBE…not many people can wear that and get away with it …..

  • humanomaly Posted: Apr.5 at 4:34 pm
Kobe Shoe is on pic #7….

  • Bob Freeman Posted: Jun.29 at 2:05 pm
I PERSONALLY LOVE THE SHAQNOSIS SHOE. SHAQ, ARE YOU OUT THERE… CALL ME FREEMAN
