LeBron James Unveils LeBron X

Team USA’s leading man introduces new shoe in gold medal game.

Keen observers of Team USA’s gold medal-clinching performance Sunday against Spain may have noticed a new sneaker on the feet of the reigning regular season and Finals MVP, LeBron James. All the anticipation—and rumors—came to a head earlier today, as James unveiled his 10th (!) signature shoe, the LeBron X. In his now-decade long partnership with Nike Basketball, Bron Bron has never had a year like this one, so it’s only right to celebrate with a sneaker that Nike says “is constructed for dynamic containment, impact protection, and responsiveness to assist one of the game’s most explosive players.”

The LeBron X is the first signature basketball shoe featuring Nike+ Basketball technology (in select colorways), and it also combines four of Nike’s most advanced innovations—the first full-length visible Nike Zoom unit, dynamic Flywire technology, Hyperfuse construction and Nike+ Basketball. Full details on the LeBron X are still scant, but stay tuned for more in the coming months, as the Heat gear up to defend the NBA title.

  • Bernard

  • Billy Hoyle

@Bernard…the way sneaker prices have gone up in the past 5 years i wouldn’t doubt it.

One of things that hurts the footwear industry and the lifestyle aspect of the sneaker world is fake kicks. Fake kicks are everywhere. They are online, they are at some small local shops and some are on people’s feet. Luckily for some of us, we can tell what’s fake and what is not. And fortunately, we’re able to stay away from them. On the other side of the spectrum, we have the buyers, be it online or local, that cannot tell and buy them without even knowing.

But there are some fake kicks out there that are SO bizarre, it’s unbelievable. The craziest sneakers are ‘released’ online at various outlets that come in a wide variety of wacky colors, weird hybrid fusions, or generally just poor attempts at replicating a shoe from Air Jordans to Nikes. Complex Magazine compiled a list of sneakers that were seen online for sale that are so outrageous that I personally don’t think anyone would fall for or purchase like “Grinch” Hyperfuses, Air Jordan 2011 360s and more. For more images and info, check out Complex’s list of The 20 Craziest Fake Kicks on the Internet.

  • Tyquez

Still like my elite 9 better than the 10s

  • James

God those things are ugly. The Lebrons just keep getting uglier and uglier

  • http://www.hoopsworld.com IamYOU

Ugly? yeah that’s what they said when lebron 9 came out, but erbody have one..

  • Michael

I prefer the lower profile nikes like the kobe’s and the durants… the lebrons are just too bulky to be work offcourt in most cases.

  • sammy ETO’ONAIL

It’s only a stupid basketball shoe.

  • Rik Smits Mullet

the reverse swoosh is strange especially on a signature kick.
If you like to invest in sneakers right now.
forget about jordans and invest in lebrons.
profit wise lebrons are the new jordans.
    DEADSTOCK that ish

  • andrew

It looks like a full air Nike Air Darwin. Not sure it’s worth that dough.

  • pposse

those kicks are sick! i thought all of lebrons shoes were wack, but the X’s in this particular colorway are serious! Are they really goin for $350? thats absurd.

  • T-Money

people always complain about the new lebrons but he’s always #1 in shoe sales. as soon as he drops the south beach edition, every rapper cops a pair then the masses follow. clockwork.

I thought the 9s were ugly when the first pics dropped, but as more colorways came out they grew on me. Maybe it’ll be the same with the 10s because I don’t like them right now. I heard the $350 was the Nike+ package with the sensors and all that in the sole. The base model should be $180. Sounds like I’m talking about a car.

  • lockpick

idk yet. this color looks nice but lebrons are usually pricey and i have a car note.

  • Bernard

when these get south beached everyone is gonna get em and try to flip em for $2000. I’m stickin to sketchers hahahha

  • Kobester

damn, those things are awful. And I thought the IX was bad….

  • The Mauve Avenger

    @sammy ETO’ONAIL

if it’s just a stupid shoe, why did you click the link like the rest of us?

Take of the Nike sign and the bubbles they look like Jordans 10s

  • DS44

There was never a LeBron 1

  • Alexico

    350 ?? Gimme 5

  • axiom

if you think these are ugly then you have absolutely no design sense. these are killer.

  • Scot Peirson

Oh, these are going to roll. There is a lot of Air Darwin with them (The Reverse Swoosh), but if Nike lets the USA colorway out AND the Gold Medal version (Which can be seen on Sneakerfiles), those will be copped in massive quantities. Plus, when we roll into the regular season and the SoBe’s come out??!?

  • http://counterkicks.com Quinned

petrie has been focused soley on performance and the design has really suffered, year to year there is very little change

  • http://slamonline.com Kanard Green

I am a huge LBJ fan, and I have to say Nike is doing a great job coming up with new shoe designs for him. I don’t see how they never run out of ideas lol! And just wait until he gets those in South Beach colors, everybody is going to have them. The college that I go to now, just about every basketball player has the Lebron 9′s or Kobe’s shoes.

  • http://sportspollution.com eastrockred

These are okay. I’m really psyched for the new Chris Dudley line of sneakers to come out. They make you consistently miss free throws, but they look cool. Can’t wait to rock my “Duds”.
