Video: Austin Daye Rejects Dwyane Wade

Looks like Detroit just re-upped on Tayshaun Prince — just taller and longer. (Well, in this play at least… but come back in three years please).

  • Moose Posted: Oct.6 at 5:28 pm
    Sweet.

  • thalilbigkahuna Posted: Oct.6 at 5:36 pm
Wow, that did look like Tayshaun.

  • niQ Posted: Oct.6 at 5:40 pm
    Yea. He’s like Prince 2.0

  • Jer Boi Posted: Oct.6 at 5:52 pm
that was sick. but gotta see that nen dunk against partizan amazing!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xPZhFaPlqM

  • rog123 Posted: Oct.6 at 6:14 pm
That was a pretty weak block. I know blocking wade is not an easy thing to do, but that block makes prince look like a beast

  • Sable Posted: Oct.6 at 6:17 pm
Somewhat-Tay. He’s got a better offensive game, but his defense isn’t as good. He’s an intelligent kid, however, and has even better handles than Tayshaun.

Was there a whistle on the play? Please tell me there wasn’t a foul called.

  • Z Posted: Oct.6 at 6:32 pm
I love how the guy on the Heat bench jumped up expecting a facial.

  • jon Posted: Oct.6 at 6:46 pm
why didn’t wade have the tape confiscated?

  • LeoneL Posted: Oct.6 at 7:18 pm
    Tay and Daye… and i don’t think it’s a weak block.

  • Jukai Posted: Oct.6 at 7:56 pm
Wow, rog123 and Brandon are unbelievable. That was a sick block and that was about as little contact as you can make in the NBA.

  • Enigmatic Posted: Oct.6 at 8:02 pm
No such thing as a “weak block”. If anything, the blocks that are swatted into the stands a la Kenyon Martin in his Cincinnati days are the “weak blocks” because they eliminate the chance of your team getting the ball. Swat it out of bounds, and they get the ball right back. This block went out of bounds too, but it stopped a Dwyane Wade dunk. No easy feat!

    Brandon: no foul.

  • Logues Posted: Oct.6 at 10:36 pm
well what the hell did u expect him to do after missing a shot that bad?

  • Big Ben Posted: Oct.6 at 11:57 pm
One of the things about Tayshaun was that no matter what, you couldn’t ever get him confused with anybody else in the league during a game; he could be wearing any jersey and you would instantly know it was him. And now there’s one other super-thin, lanky, light-skinned, baby-faced guy in the league, and he plays for the same team. I don’t know, that’s just so crazy to me.

  • rog123 Posted: Oct.6 at 11:59 pm
I give him props for blocking wade but just because a great player gets blocked, it doesn’t mean the actual block was great. Nice hustle though.

  • rog123 Posted: Oct.7 at 12:03 am
Enigmatic, that has gotta be one of the dumbest things I ever heard. By your logic, all of dwight howards blocks are weak!

  • Garrett Posted: Oct.7 at 12:31 am
Sorry rog123, Enigmatic is right. Power swats into the stands look cool, but they just get the ball right back. The defense will get the ball 57% of the time after a block if it stays in bounds (http://www.82games.com/comm16.htm), but 0% of the time if it goes out of bounds.

  • niQ Posted: Oct.7 at 1:19 am
Actually he looks more like a Taller and Longer Devin Harris!

  • martin Posted: Oct.7 at 2:32 am
shouldn’t it be pistons ball after that play? daye blocked it but the ball still touched the side of the hand of d-wade before going out of bounds.

  • German Reignman Posted: Oct.7 at 3:34 am
Perfect timing and extension, even though Wade was in a way better position to the basket … good job. But that three ? Fugly, completely fugly …. And blocking a ball out of bounds is not “weak”, but sometimes it is unnecessary or stupid because the ball could have been kept inbounds …

  • lando Posted: Oct.7 at 3:53 am
that was definately not a weak block..this kids got ups

  • Harlem Posted: Oct.7 at 4:40 am
Nice block but…..HOW THE FU@# DO U SHOOT A AIRBALL WHEN YOUR WIDE OPEN!!!!!!!!

  • ssgilreath6 Posted: Oct.7 at 8:19 am
Daye might have airball that shot but earlier in the game he drain a three from the corner.

  • riggs Posted: Oct.7 at 8:49 am
if wade had cocked it back a bit more that wouldve been a great facial. hopefully this comment doesnt sound as much as a porno scene.

  • Clark Posted: Oct.7 at 11:05 am
I was at this game and offensively Daye looked awesome. Besides that airball, he hit a three and has a pretty assist to Chris Wilcox for a dunk. BUT, he was definitely the worst of the three rookies on defense, and the heat attacked him because they saw he was the weak link (besides this one really sick block). Luckily I don’t think there is anyone who could teach Daye better defense than Tayshaun Prince (and Ben Wallace could help too I guess). Hopefully he learns from them.

  • Bruno Posted: Oct.7 at 1:51 pm
you know is hell of a dunk when the bench from the other team celebrates it

  • rog123 Posted: Oct.7 at 1:57 pm
I’m not sayong blocking a shot out of bounds is the best thing, but it sure as hell is not WEAK
