Video: Kevin Garnett Dunks on Andrew Bogut, Throws Elbow

Quite a day for KG yesterday, who had to answer questions about insulting another player, and then got into a little tussle with a large, Aussie man:

    Nice dunk….b*tch move.

  • MikeC.

Rodman and Oakley used to do that kind of stuff all the time and they’re considered to be scrappy, tough warriors who did whatever it took to get in their opponents heads and to win. KG does it and he’s a b*tch.

  • CJ

What a tough guy, dunking on a white boy and then tossing an elbow.

  • http://twitter.com/nbatalkandkicks Eduardo

I think if Bogut wasn’t right next to him Garnett would have been screaming up and down about that dunk. He probably would have been throwing punches in the air if no one was near him.

  • Mr_Tibbs

Smh…its part of the game man. damn. both players were in the wrong. at least bogut fought back…didnt take it like a punk like charlie ol sticks and stones ass

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    Bogut looked hesitant to retaliate.

  • Stepfan

Someone’s knee is feeling much better I see.

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

I like KG. I like Bogut. I like this whole exchange.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

Oh please, without Charlie’s whining on Twitter this would have been same ‘ol, same ‘ol in an NBA game with two fierce competitors.
Hmm, strange that Andy didn’t complain about it on Twitter (although he sure as hell doesn’t appreciate the C’s yapping)

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

Great hammerdunk though, off the two foot plant – kablam!

  • vtrobot

pleeeease. that’s throwing an elbow? WTF is up with how soft everyone is these days? MAYBE WATCH THE VIDEO AGAIN. boguts’ forearm is againsst KG’s chest after KG pooed on him. KG pushed bogut’s arm away. THAT’S IT. the KG hate is going to be amazing when he wins another ring whilst playing the lead *sshole role. KG was actually going after luke rid., but the aussie got in the way.

  • dma

the difference between oakley/rodman and kg is that those two weren’t afraid to throwdown and back up their ish. KG on the other hand runs away.

  • The Fresh Prince of Nsam

    KAYGEEE!!!!
    Everything’s Posibbbblllleeee!!!!!!

  • burnt_chicken

CJ: you are aware of physical dimensions as well as ethnicity, I hope. Because Bogut is 7 feet tall, and about 260. And would smash someone of your assuredly dimunitive stature in a heatbeat.

  • 2dope

I think its Anything’s Possible. I’m a Celts Fan and Bogut tooled on Garnett and the Celts last night. I Like his game and his toughness.

  • http://jirvin.com Joe

It was a nice dunk for KG but again like time and time again he shows his class (or lack of). Why cant he be more of a professional? Look at kevin Durant who is a true class act, he is 21 years of age and conducts himself like a true professional on and off the court where KG just acts out for no dam reason. Its not like he lead the league in scoring at 21 or hit 81 in a game he just made one average dunk. No respect for him he is a let down to the nba when theyve been so good to him tolerating his high school antics.

  • http://shinefluid@aol.com CHICAGO SAID IT YUP

i cant believe most of the fans now days. since when has sports ever equated class??think of any sport and your favoirte athlete, they were cold blooded muthafks who tried to belittle the opponent at every chance. since when did everything become so soft?? everyone wants to be political and im sick of it. quit crying and man up and go get that W.Because regardless of what any of us say at the end of the day WE WANT TO WIN!!!!!!

  • vic21

If we go by the new rulebook isn’t the celtic’s bench reaction plus Rondo’s worth like a gazillion technical’s?

  • vtrobot

@ 2dope: I agree. I’m a C’s fan, but I like Bogut and that Bucks team. They have to finish in the 4th or 5th spot this year. Whoever finishes 4th will have a solid 5th seed to face in round 1. That could have been bad news for the C’s last year if they’d had MIL in Round 1.

  • Trevor

KG made a few vintage moves last night. It was great to see.

  • http://SLAMonline.com GotHandles?

    KG’s a f*ckin a$$hole. dirty player

  • JTaylor21

I used to be KG’s biggest fan and I still like dude but what the hell happend to him after he went to BOS, dude has turned into one of the most annoying players in the league. Always cursing at everything expect other players and trying to punk PGs and SGs but back downs when confronted by bigger players. He’s like those small a** dogs that are always barking up a storm but when they run into a BIG dog they cower and run to the corner. MIN KG>>>>>>>>BOS KG.

  • MF

I wish more people played with the intensity that KG plays with

I would have loved it, had the internet been in 1996 what it is now. Rodman and Shawn Kemp did way more ridiculous things than this. Imagine if Twitter existed during Payton or Jordan’s careers? How many soft players would complain about what they heard from those two? KG is the last of a dying breed. He comes from the 90′s era. He holds true to it and doesn’t conform to the PC-ness of today’s NBA.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Loved that game last night. I like the C’s, but the Bucks showed they’re a team on the rise. They made some clutch plays in the last minute to force overtime.

  • feez22

… does anyone other than me want anthony peeler to come back into the nba 1 game so he can CLOCK garnett again? garnett with all the talents and greatness he posesses is such a b*tch on the court… Liked the dunk but if you gonna throw an elbow afterwards dont start flopping back off of a push like you got shot. lol @ hubie brown everytime there is an exciting play or a confrontation he is always like “WHOA WHOA WHOA” lol

  • horsey

i love when players put both hands way, way up to show they didn’t do anything. normally when i’m not doing anything wrong i’ll throw my hands up just so everyone around me knows. perfectly natural.

  • CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT

GARNETT SHOULD HAVE JUST LET THE DUNK SPEAK FOR ITSELF

people dont realize the 90s era boys had some of the dirty trash talking mouths, MJ my man would bark at you while on d, or when he had the ball. theres that clip of when vs the knicks where hes steps to the man after hes cheap shotted Pip
GP was grimey with the trash talk.
this new soft era with their soft rules and hyping egotistical stars, cant handle the left overs of the 90s when they kick it old school, Shaq and KG being the most obvious
talk you junk just back it up is my motto and often enough these guys do , not always though

  • Heals

Play on playa, the masses keep hatin but he ain’t changin and I love it…

  • vtrobot

@ CAPTAIN: He might have if Bogut hadn’t had his forearm against KG’s chest after the dunk. Granted, it looks like Bogut was just trying to keep some space between himself and KG, but that’s what caused KG to overreact with his removal of that forearm. Not really ’cause for this much debate and probably should have just been posted as the slamadaday. Peace.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Forget the forearm against the chest, look at how he comes down with his arms cross KG’s arms as KG turns to go up the court. That’s why KG threw the elbow. I’m shocked that peopel could watch the video and not notice this glaring issue.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Seriously, KG dunks on him. Bogut goes up with the left hand to block. They come down, Bogut brings the right arm over and shoves KG a little bit as Garnett moves up the court. Garnett throws the elbow, catches himself, and tries to pretend like he did nothing.
If you don’t see that, you ain’t really watching the video.

  • underdog

    Damn, I miss Anthony Peeler.

  • tRay

@Allenp exactly it was mere retaliation from KG since when has the league been so soft. I swear these KG haters are the biggest pu**ies I’ve ever seen.

  • lazaruz

i feel u boogie. he obviously swiping at his elbow. im always sticking up for kgs rat moves but not this, i no boogie was scared of his arm if he got in a tussle but still drop some knees or something. dont take that sh** from that b***.

and allenp, boogie did nothing pre kgs rat move, he might of pushed off him a little bit to stop kg claiming he t – bagged him but nothing worth kg trying to flare up boguts elbow.

  • http://slam Lonballer

KG’s old school, loved the dunk good to see that famous spring in his step.

  • JTaylor21

tRay, what the hell does this have to do with the league allegedly being “soft”? I bet you can’t even last half-a-quarter in the NBA and you’re here calling them soft, please. The nerve of people this days.

  • TrailBlazing&SportingLisbon

    KG is a vagina

  • logues

Allenp: thank u. u can see it plain as day in the instant reply that bogut pushes kg first

  • Love4Humanity

Wow you guys have moved from hating Lebron to hating KG. He probably a better player than your favorite player so get over it. He’s definitely better than you

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

KG would never try that ish on K-Mart. Believe that.

  • bdub

    Mountain-Molehill

  • tRay

@JTaylor21 maybe I didn’t make myself clear. I meant it’s soft from the standpoint that players always cry about getting pushed and etc. If someone pushed me best believe there will be fist to follow.

  • tRay

@JTaylor21 i am calling them soft becuase they are. If you get hit then hit back thats all im saying no need to attack me bruh.

  • Krisjanis

I thought that Garnett only goes for points guards or sg’s,haha, but I’ll never forget how he dropped balls and gave punches while walking away when maxiell went at him.

  • Shem

Notice KG backed off, if that was a guard that pushed him he d be right up in his grill

  • http://www.twiter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

Garnett has been doing the same thing since he came in the league. I don’t know why people are acting like he started being an a-hole when he got to Boston. Who are you guys favorite player thats such a standup citizen all game every game? Someone said Durant has such class for a 21 year old. Is that the same Durant that called the ref a “b*tch a$$ n*gga” after a blown call in Utah? And I’m not mad at Durant for that, he was upset and let his emotions out. KG just does it more than most. Get over it.

  • http://slamonline.com JJAkroyd

    2010 Andrew Bogut > 2010 Kevin Garnett.

  • http://slamonline.com Krishan

Bogut has a mean streak a mile long. Add to the fact that KG is an a$$bag, I think he just became one of my favorite players.

  • http://www.bunzl.com.au OZ Baller

KG would have no chance against Bogut, for sure.

  • http://twitter.com/nbatalkandkicks Eduardo

KG is an aggressive player, so what? It’s what good defenders do. He’s explosive and lets out his emotions on the court. He’s more exciting to watch getting excited about a good play than monotone Tim Duncan (he’s got no expression), even though Tim Duncan is one of the best PF to play the game.

  • Dagger

Face it: if KG was on your team you’d love him. I love his old school approach. When the game is on that opposing player is your enemy, not just a friend in another uniform.

  • Jude

These two have history, every time they play each other there is some niggle.

    It’s legit.

    Love them both!

However, as an Aussie I can tell you now that Bogut would pull KG’s arms off and beat him with them.

  • flipnoyce

Almost every one in here that are non Celtics fan is seriously hatin on KG. But, everybody love him when he was in the losing team, Timberwolves. It’s so funny to me how all of the sudden he’s a dirty player because he is playing for a historic franchise . Give me one defensive minded player that isn’t dirty. Basketball is a contact sports and if you didn’t know that then go watch baseball or tennis. Ron Artest wrapped his ****ing arm around Paul Pierce in game one of the Finals, and people said thats good defense. The league has definitely gotten soft. Go Youtube Detroit bad boy days n c the kind of things they pulled against MJ himself.

  • rich

his knees are lookin a lot better this year

  • http://slamonline.com Big Daddy Jake

Sports is war! Not some personality contest. Anyone who has played beyond high school knows that. KG is a personality, he is a warrior on the court and a gentlemen off it. Don’t hate suckas!!! Michael Jordan was the same way, talking all kinds of trash all game long, if you poke on someone you have every right to scream and yell and embarasse the chump!

  • León

MAN VERY NICE DUNK, BUT i dont like the way garnett changed in boston, now hes like kind of spoiled brat

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

I’m a little shocked at the responses.
I have no problem with KG throwing the elbow. It’s called basketball.
I DO have a problem with Bogut retaliating, throwing KG like a f*cking ragdoll, and KG walking away like a b*tch.
You threw an elbow after being tangled up. Then you walk away?
And people are calling KG tough? What?
Maybe it’s because Bogut is white and KG is black, but Bogut just flung KG and everyone is acting like it was a skirmish. Odd.

  • http://slamonline.com JJAkroyd

    Cosign Jukai.
Anyone who throws an elbow has to be prepared to back it up. KG’s response was a hell of a lot weaker than Bogut’s. It might work in high school, but in the NBA with plenty of video evidence, you just look like a punk.

  • Towelie

Mark this day as a historical event: Bogut has officially dropped his balls.

  • rikson

Way to refer to CV! Exactly the same situation, geniuses…

  • Lan

    KG Doin Work

  • DDB

Kevin Garnett…the consummate fake tough guy. His entire act is old. He wouldn’t try that on Bogut in a room alone. I agree with Charlie V 100% and I wish the NBA was like the 80s where Garnett would get his just due. Instead, his act will carry on and we have to hear about how “intense” he is…what a punk.

  • DDB

Add to my post…does anyone recall KG’s little spats with ZaZa Pachulia?? Another guy who KG wants to get tough with and then when ZaZa doesn’t back down, KG b**ches up! That’s how he’s made. It’s all an act but he doesn’t really want to get into it.

Okay let’s face it, Stern is gonna make basketball a “delicate sport”.

Back in the 90′s Rodman would have been fined by his own club for beeing that nice !!!!
