Slamadaday: JR Smith on Gary Neal

Vicious, vicious stuff from Mr. Swish (and don’t think I didn’t notice the extra-crispy kicks on Smith‘s feet, either):

  • http://www.double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

This is what Melo should have done to end the game…..

  • tRay

    Is it the zapatos?!

  • http://slamonline.com Ben Osborne

going left, off one foot, with two hands? ill.

  • Brahsef

Dunk of the year so far. Absolutely disgusting. Took off from so fuckin deep and just absolutely attacked the rim. He shat all over George Hill

  • T-Money

I’ve noticed that. JR seems to prefer taking off the right foot – which is odd for a righty.

  • Sizzle

Kevin Harlan’s call of this dunk was hilarious. Gary Neal man, I remember his day’s at LaSalle (Pre-Rape Allegations) then he went to Towson and lit it up. Good to see he’s made it, even if it involves being crammed on by JR_Swish

  • Crustified-Jalepino

T-Money youre right. Freakishly odd at that !! But when he dunked ‘behind his back’ in the DUNKCONTEST a few years back wasn’t it with the left hand or am i thinking Josh Smith here.

  • D-Block

Lol at Melo’s facial expression at 0:14. JERSEY STAND UP!!!

  • Mels

They really don’t call travel anymore smh….nice dunk though

  • Crustified-Jalepino

…it was his right. But all the dunks in 2009 DC he jumped off his right , dunked with right. This cat defys the laws of gravity & biomechanix DAMN !!

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

    Cool Grey 11s

  • Crustified-Jalepino

D-Block : Mellow was like . Yeah that was aight. :-)

  • Crustified-Jalepino

He had to get to the rim on that one coz if he didn’t it was going to be a horrible fall. He got to it alright.

  • fruizm

yes! i ordered those shoes last week!!!!

  • http://nba.com/bulls The Babe

He dunked on Gary Neal not George Hill i mean come on its pretty obvious

  • Sean

As if this shoe needed more hype before next Thurs….fml!

  • hillbilly

And they wanna trade this guy? C’mon, Nuggs. Can’t a thug get no love?

  • Cizzo

Yeah that’s how you finish at he rim kid, that’s very routine so Smith, he had the number 1 duk of last year on NBA.com…..

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

Shout out to Tom Chambers and Mark Jackson…

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

He jumped from the freaking DOTS! With TWO hands. It’s a damn shame his basketball IQ is so low. A criminal, crying shame.

    Try SlamadaYEAR

  • tRay

Those kicks are hella smooth idk if I’d be hooping in them though

Oh my god, he killed Gary!!! You Basterd!!!

  • robb

I wish JR was more consistent as a player, he’s real fun to watch.

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

It just amazes me when a right handed player can just so naturally off their right foot. John Wall does it a lot too, not as spectacularly as JR tho. I’m no NBA caliber athlete, but i would say as a righty, my explosion of my right foot is about 30% less than my left.

  • Crustified-Jalepino

Shout out to My Main Man Shawn Kemp. Who destroyed anybody in his path.

  • jinjin

If this guy could get his head together…

  • Crustified-Jalepino

2:49 left in the game Carmello gets away with a SIC TRAVEL then scores on a AND1 !but Manu beat all the odds , the refs & DENVER.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

now you finally understand why, I ain’t never seen a man cry, till I seen a man fly…….lol, haven’t looked at the comments yet, but I’m garuanteed someone beat me too it

  • T-Money

Allen: I see you! He has every single offensive tool you could want but doesn’t know what to do with the toolbox!! Deep jumper, mid range, floaters, at the rim, he can create for others on the move, bring the ball up some, he’s got good size/height, can erase defenders off the bounce. Damn shame. There’s no good reason why JR is not an all star. I’d like to see a terrible team take a shot at him as a go-to scorer and see what he could do.

  • http://www.slamonline.com zog

man JR is way better of a dunker than J-Smoove

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Travel, 3 big steps. But it was still nice

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

Yeah inside he’s still the guy who was drafted straight from 12th grade because of his athleticism and instictive ability to put the ball in the hoop. My nickname for him is the Scarecrow, cause dude has no conscience. A gift at times, a curse at others.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I only saw two steps once he picked up the ball. Remember, you get that extra step on the gather. Wade, Bron and Manu use it better than everybody in the league.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

@Tarzan no travel, 2 steps with established possession

  • http://www.slamonline.com Clyde

That was dirty…. dude got uppppp.

  • http://Philosophervision@blogspot.com The Philosopher

    It was a travel, guys.

  • Anonymous

On occasion when I start an association in 2k11 with a struggling franchise I pick him up and he always gets mip and avgs around 20 3 3. He’s topped out around 25 5 5 smh lol

    In “Dinver”.

  • http://hibachisabas.blogspot.com/ Toni Kukoc

    its all about the shoes

  • http://twitter.com/smk73 SMK

It’s like Ime Udoka never heard of a crossover dribble.

Also, pause the clip at :33 for NBA Self-Promotion of the Year. And check out the fat white guy squeezed into the Alex English retro jersey who’s pretty much the exact opposite of Alex English.

  • Crustified-Jalepino

zog probably true but i don’t think youl ever see j.r. dunk on j smooth like dat. Yet J Smooth could dunk using j.r. as a ball. feel me ?

    Melo didn’t look too excited.

  • tRay

Melo was like pffft I’ve seen that ish before lol way to support your teammates Melo

  • http://www.twitter.com/gerardhimself Gerard Himself

ah yes, philosopher, exactly what I thought. Man man man JR Smith off the right foot like he does and what a huge dunk. Stunning. Hanging on the rim (I know, he had to) makes it even better. Wish I saw it live.

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

Melo took a cue from crawford. ‘ive seen something similar before, thats not special.’

  • ethan

the shoes r dah best part about it

  • Bobbyfade

Sick dunk!! Anyone got a link to a picture of the rim hang please? Need that ‘get off me’ pose as a wallpaper stat!!

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

Travel or no travel, was nice.. Surprised he didnt get a tech for hanging on the rim.. (Sure, it was to avoid landing on an opposing player, but he IS J.R. Smith)

  • BlackMamaba

“we’ve just say a man fly” lmaooooooooo

  • Charlie

One of the best dunk of the decade. Give the man his deserved praise, goodness Hardly anyone could imitate that dunk. Actual “ball players” know that JR Smith Didn’t travel in this play. And if you think that was travel you must have been born in the 1920s lol

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

Boy those cool grey XI’s are sweet.
(only can be topped by the Space jams or Ray Allen’s PE white/gold toes from two seasons ago, amazing how good the XI looks in so many colours!!)

  • OvaChicken

the dunk was nice too :-)

  • OvaChicken

just spotted Rudy oopin to Lemarcus Aldridge on Michael Beasley! Damn! That was a Big Man Dunk. Take It !!! Cmon let the world see the next SLAMADADAY !!!

  • J Roc

2K11 didn’t lie with the 11s, +10 dunk rating FTW

  • http://ballislife.com Stephon

Love the vintage Kevin Harlan comments. cosign @D-Block

  • robz

its gota be d shoes AJ11′s oh meyn

  • Tatum

awesome dunk, but Harlan’s “ride ‘em, cowboy!” didn’t really live up to the moment.

Melo looked like he’d just awoken from an opium daze.

  • soldier

J.R.Smith’s dunk was two points. His team lost the game. G. Neal was attempting to take a charge. That same type play by M. Ginobli won the game. It’s about winning isn’t it.
