Rondo is just as quick. He’s just not as good. It’s obvious that Rose has developed his game more to this point.
When they matched up Rose’s rookie year, Rondo was a defending champion and beat the rook based on his vet saavy. He clearly won the matchup.
But, Rose has developed his game, and his experience has grown. Rondo has more experience, but what does he actually do better now? That’s the big difference.
If two players both gain experience and saavy, but one also develops his skillset, then that player is going to win the invdividual battle, particularly when the gap between the skill level on their teams is reduced.

Is he really a better passer? Or, has the entire team had more years to work in the same offense, and grow comfortable with their roles?
Don’t you watch the game and see Rondo pass up clear baskets to get another assist? Isn’t he avoiding shots he should be taking to keep the defense honest and make the game easier for his team?
I think a “real” point guard should be able to shoot free throws and jumpers. And, he shouldn’t spend the game gambling in the passing lanes instead of staying in front of his man.
Rose is the better player, he’s more skilled and more talented, and he’s rapidly gaining on Rondo when it comes to saavy.

Now all we need to do is bring him to the Knicks… Make it happen, Walsh !

Allenp, i feel ya man, if a point guard is going to have to ball in thier hands more than any other player on there team through out the course of a game then they need to develop thier shot. And if they dont develop a shot within 3 or 4 years especially (like rondo hasn’t). It is very aggravating especially when you look at how good the celtics could potentially be and how they could wreck damn near any defense if rondo could just shoot the rock.

I agree w/ AllenP and others about the shooting of a pg but RR is far from garbage. That was indeed a sweet highlight move but the “ankle breaking” was just a nice headline to get viewers. To truly break ankles you need to make your defender cross his legs like a woman sitting, fall, trip or stumble backwards…look up AI or Zeke. lol I’m not downing the move b/c it was nice and I watched it plenty of times SMH w/ laughter but it was what it was.
