Video: Kings Announcers Tear Up In Sign-Off

The Kings played what could possibly be their final game in the city they’ve called home for 26 years. Former Kings head coach and GM Jerry Reynolds and longtime play-by-play announcer Grant Napear teared up as they went into the final minute of possibly their final broadcast. Makes you wonder if this could happen to your team one day…

It’s weird to see a team with such a fan base, have to change cities. I remember Arco being one of the loudest playoff atmospheres I had ever seen. Watching it on TV, it felt like you were at the game. And no, no surround sound or high-def.

SMH, this brought out the tears like the ending of Scent of a Woman! *grabs kleenex*

Wow, that was really moving. Fortunately yesterday’s game provided some great moments and the Arco’s roar could be heard for the last time.

*hands kleenex to robb* It’s ok to cry.

Sac Town has some of the best fans in the NBA. It’s a dang shame to see this happen, like Seattle. Proud traditions gone with the lights.

I’d like to have seen the Tesla tribute the announcer mentioned at the end of this.

Damn, that felt like watching baby seals get clubbed. :o (

First McClellan AFB now the Kings… Sactown is actually a nice city to work and play in. Damn shame! The Rock (Mitch Richmond) ran SacTown from 91′-98′ and then later C-Webb and crew used to have Arco crackin’…

Damn, that video is fantastic……thanks Jer Boi.

I was there and the place was CRACKING. It felt like some things never changed when it looked like the Kings had made an impossible comeback only to have Kobe tear our hearts out AGAIN. The only difference between last night and the golden days in Sacramento were how loud the crowd cheered the visiting Lakers. It was probably 60-40 Kings vs Lakers’ fans which NEVER used to happen. Lot of memories at that little arena sad to see them go.

man… this sucks. So Cal doesn’t need another nba team. Does anaheim even “want” the kings? this is a travesty. Small markets losing their teams… this is definitely not going to be the last time this happens. I remember the cowbells… so long Sac.

    classy dudes right there

  • D12FSU

Damn dude, you forget that when a team moves, it doenst just affect fans. People lose jobs, and it hurts those who have had a long connection the team.

  • bails1

@ anaheim royalty- This is a big deal for fans that have shelled out thousands of dollars and invested sweat and tears for our ONLY pro sports franchise. Can you choose another forum to celebrate your city’s new franchise and quit being such a Dick. Go to a mighty ducks game or Knots Berry Farm just quit reminding me the kind of person we are handing our franchise over to.

It seems like yesterday when the Kings were battling the Lakers or Mavs, great games, Arco Arena was a great place to watch a game. Maloofs shouldn`t move. They have a great future in Tyreke, Cousins, Thompson, 2 guard from LSU( from hornets, cant remember his name for some reason) Udrith is starting to play consistently great etc. Webber, Peja, Vlade and Dwayne Shintzus (lol) all need jersey`s hung. GO PACERS!

Thanks to everyone here bar Anaheim Royalty whose as classless as they come. The deal is basically done but there is some small hope for us Sacto fans. Jerry Buss is on the relocation pannel and is really against the move, it is said he has high influence over the owners and could potentially swing the votes against relocation. A prominent sac billionare has also stated he is willing to provide the funds to ensure the kings stay in sac be that buying the team or helping build an arena. You cant put a price on some things, the joy ive recieved from watching my beloved hometown kings play while im here in Oz has been immense. I thank you all for the great memories and hope some how we can keep the kings with one of the greatest fan bases in the league

  • STL needs a team

@turk Marcus Thornton. Homeboy has been killin’ them since he went over to Sac.
