Video: Nick Young’s 60-Point Game At Drew League

… even down to the free throws.

He didn’t quite match KD’s 66, but the Wizards‘ guard was strokin’ last weekend in L.A. Nick Young‘s 60 scratches marked the highest ever scored in a Drew League game. Unfortuneately, his team still lost.

If you drop 60 and still lose then you either need new team-mates or you need to pass the damn ball

  • Kadavour

lol @ Unfortunately, his team still lost. Kid is one of the rawest scorers in the league.

Damn, I guess looking for your own shot every time down the court aka “chucking” is the new fad. RIP to playing team ball.

    Herky Jerky!
He can flat out score, but needs to get his teammates involved more.

  • Jer dawg

60 is demoralizing, but at least the other team says they won. SCOREBOARD, Nick!

  • mangstream

Just about every jumper he took was a bad shot.

  • JL

i hardly think scoring is what he needs to work on mainly, especially against the defenders who are sub par to his level. what he shoulda been doing was grabbing lots of rebounds, play tight defense, and pass alot to get his teammates involved. all of which would make him more dangerous. do those things against a minor league of sorts, and he can work them in to his NBA game. He’s already a real good scorer. Scoring all the points for his team isn’t going to help him as much.

  • Kilo

Nick Young needs to pass the ball. You know they were like triple teaming him

  • Chris

Nick Young = Josh Childress in beast mode

  • jonny

dang. that really destroys any chance of the drew league getting props.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

@JL: You may be right….. but you’ve got to be kidding yourself if you think Nick Young is going to go to Drew league to practice locking down guys and boxing out.

  • ballerphil

as long as ball hogs get videos and attention like this…they don’t stop.

  • JL

@LakeShow – that’s true. I definitely think if I had his skills I wouldn’t be willing to go that hard against Drew league players either and risk injury. But still I think he’s got great potential and would be awesome if he could work on being a more complete player (who knows he probably already is doing work). I know him mostly from stats tho since I had him on my FBB team. LOL. Didn’t watch any Wizards games.

Geez, It was like watching the young KB8 who would never pass even though his teamates were cutting and standing wide open.

Maybe this is why the Wizards can’t win? lol just wondering what do you guys think about the wizards this year?

  • Bimmer

I understand what you all mean, but this kid’s confidence is about to skyrocket. He’s about to be on some next level ish. Scorers are needed in this league. And he’s pretty freaking good at that. Let a center get blocks. Let a power forward get rebounds. Let a point guard get assists. Let Nick Young score every time he gets a chance. He’s hitting free agency, and I can think of more than a few teams who could use this guy.

  • Lan

How can you score 60 and still lose the game?! Somebody else on the other team scored 63?!

  • http://basketbawful.blogspot.com/2008/06/worst-of-celtics-lakers-part-7.html nbk

This highlight fails to show how many he missed…..

  • CA

\\ because when one dude is doing everything on offence the team dont feel like playin in general. Many times players score a ton and lose and thats one of the reasons.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

Nick Young is a scarecrow….not unlike JR Smith, or maybe to a lesser extent Monta Ellis. Great scorers, great players, but simply won’t realize their potential until they put the game together in their heads….I have CSN-Was so I watched my tolerance’s worth of 82 Wizards games last season…painful stuff. Talent…talent everywhere, thats nothing new…but, as I continue to shout at the walls, ever since Eddie Jordan left there has been no order in this organization. Nick Young doesn’t quite understand the concept of team (I’d probably be harder on him for it if I could name more than 2 guys on that squad who legitimately do). Part of this is because the Wizards offense was so anemic at stretches that their best chances at scoring were to just let the guy chuck at will. He’s not getting any younger, it would probably be in his own best interest to play somewhere else where he could mature as a player

  • andre anglais

wow, y’all said it already, but does he even know how to pass? Guy makes like 20 shots, only one of them comes off of an assist.

  • T-Money

Don’t put Monta in that category – he gets a bad rep but is actually an adequate defender and willing passer. Nick Young is what he is. I don’t know why people assume tht a talent for scoring necessarily means that there’s potential elsewhere. The guy is useless on defense, on the boards and his assist numbers are historically bad.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Nick Young is a taller Monta Ellis and this is the same thing KD did in Rucker no difference. BOOK IT!!!

  • Will Lee

give that number props, but this summer leagues are just pickup leagues. don’t be too serious, sit back and enjoy the wild style

  • C Da Tyrant

anybody else see a southbeach colorway in the vid?

  • Justin

who cares if he passes. you got fat dudes on the sidelines huffin and puffin. let the man show the crowd a show. you see that last three? WATCH TALENT AND STOP JUDGING SO MUCH. ITS SUMMER WITH FAT DUDES IN A SMALL GYM WITH NO CROWD GET OVER IT.

  • Matt Park

    @The Seed
KD was ballhogging as far as I can see, but the shot quality was different. Kevin Durant’s man’s hands were down, and we all know how little space KD needs to be considered “open” for him. If you are not all over the man, that is an open shot for him.
Nick Young took a lot of really contested jumpers. However, I guess the dude was feeling it.

  • irondan21

Great, so now he will pass the ball even less next season. Bravo

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

t-money you’ve lost you’re mind.. monta is a great scorer but let’s not pretend like he’s ever really tried to defend and he’s just barely a decent passer

  • Harlem_World

Co-sign The Seed. KD did the same thing and gets love. Its SUMMER LEAGUE, time to let loose and enjoy yourself. Its not that serious. Stop hating…

  • marc

Is that deshawn stevenson and y are you dudes comin down so hard on him. He was feeling it obviously. And he probably knew his team wasnt that good. And its a summer league not that serious. Just enjoy the game or the highlights. Some dudes always have negative comments on here.

  • http://staticseth.blogspot.com Seth

I like his fake of TWO guys at 0:38

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

Can’t believe some people are complaining about the lack of team play in a summer league game. Get over yourselves. He’s probably not even playing in the league every game, he came down for one game and to put a show on for the fans, i’m sure none of them were complaining. and its a HIGHLIGHT video, they’re not gonna show the shots he missed.

I love the beat in the background.

  • Showtime

Ya’ll are 4 gettin he a Shooting guard,- that what all of them do. Only exception have desire for both MJ,Dwade & use to be Kobe at times. But i cant think of to many others ??? & lets not put Monta in this he a beast. to be a undersized Sg, he plays hella better in defense and pass category then the rest of the sg not name the latter two.

  • http://nicekicks.com Meloman2.0

    I love this guy

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7Ixy8Uttq0 nbk

Actually Nick Young has been playin in Drew since it began. — And we all realize it’s a highlight video, but what does 60 points mean if you take 60 shots? Nothing, that’s what.

  • Nick young fan

Leave this man alone hes a great scorer and he does pass during the season, ive watched almost every wizards game. Let him do his Thing its a SUMMER LEAGUE GAME. How do you score 60 without not passing, thats how everyone scores that much, and they only lost by four.
