Video: LeBron James Scores 43 Points for Team Melo

Team Melo may have taken home the L last night against Team Philly, but that had nothing to do with King James’ dominant play.

nice LBJ to bad this win dont get you a chip !!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

I hope Bron continues this trend of playing headband-less once there is real ball again.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    LONG… LIVE… THE KING.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

the more you boo him the stronger he becomes!

  • Dagger

Damn, those are some nice highlights.

  • MUBWAR

the post up is getting there. the NoHeadband is great. He came to reality with the hairline.

  • the truth

I forget sometimes just how much of a gotd am beast lebron is

  • robb

I still think when you do THAT much for a team, its counterproductive. A more balanced team works better, but is a damn beast, no question about it. And yeah, he should keep playing without that headband.

  • cramzy

    every highlight sound like “boooooooooo….ohhhhhhhhhhh”

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

Yeah I think he’s over the hairline thing. But dude is a beast. I was gonna comment on how well he finishes with his left, but he writes with his left, so it’s probably naturally stronger than most right handed players left hands. If that makes sense.

  • T-Money

eboy: one of my buddy always said that bron would really start to get busy once he’d take the head band off. it’s such a ridiculous theory but, for some reason, i kind of agree lol. riles went soft, he should have continued to outlaw head bands. mj, magic, larry.. no head bands, they mean business!

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Looks like dude dropped a little weight, which is a good thing because he got a little bulky last season, robbing him of some explosiveness and speed.

  • J.C.

Man he had something to prove in that game. Every drive he was going straight into his defender, totally overpowering them. Dude really is a beast…

  • T-Money

jtaylor: spot on. he was a bit bloated by the end of the season. i hope that this newfound dedication to take EVERYTHING to the hole will carry over to the nba season. i watched the whole stream and dude was living inside, posting up cats.

  • MLK4Life

Watching all of these guys play has been fun. Can’t take any of the stats serious since no one plays defense. But it’s good to see them play together. It’s especially good for those who can’t afford to go to an NBA game. Good stuff.

  • MLK4Life

Also, booing LeBron is a little out of style now. Seriously. The man decided to play with his friends who are better players than the guys he was playing with. God forbid a Black man exercise his power and choose where he wants to play. Get over it. It’s just a game. He’s just a basketball player.

  • http://nba.com GP23

They shouldn’t be booing LeBron…. they should be grateful they are watching him live, and lighting the place up. At the end of the day, looking at the whole picture, what has he done wrong? … exactly.

  • MLK4Life

People can feel how they want to feel about him leaving Cleveland. The way he did it was questionable. But to take it that personally where you feel like you have to boo him. It’s crazy. Even for those in Cleveland. I watched the game and for a guy to be that upset to where he needs to throw something at him while he’s sitting on the bench, I don’t understand it. I mean come on. It’s just a game. Some people are out of control. Some of those people who were booing yesterday will never be able to watch him play in an NBA game. So I agree GP23. They should watch him and the other stars and shut up.

  • T-Money

booing someone at a charity game that hasn’t done anything directly to the city is a bit odd. but it’s philly tho.

MJ was just as self conscious about his hairline, he just beat it, and (the majority of) his fame to the punch by shaving it

  • MUBWAR

they were just mad the heat toyed with their team in the 1st round.

  • T-Money

nbk: and thank god for that – a bald head looks much better than a receding hairline. now if mj could also convince white people that it’s ok to shave it off lol. is it because they’re afraid of looking like skinheads?

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

Well I don’t speak for all white men, but the stigma with being white and having a bald head does deter some of the balding guys I know from completely shaving. Others are afraid their head is mis-shaped lol

  • RaZkOL

those must have been 3 great quarters!

  • http://bleacherreport.com/articles/670447-dwight-howard-and-andrew-bogut-a-tale-of-two-2011-all-nba-defensive-centers nbk

“I hope all 3 great quarters” people are from or are loyal Dallas Mavericks fans. Cuz no other fan base in the league really can say a damn thing. Just sayin

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I like seeing him sans headband too.
Riley did go soft on that, and I’d like to think that had he gone to the Bulls, John Paxson and Jerry Reinsdorf would’ve said no to the headband…but no doubt they woulda let him rocked it cause c’mon..it’s LeBron James.
They let Ben Wallace rock the headband after some initial protesting on his part.
The next few years should be really interesting, as LeBron is finally getting into his peak years, and probably won’t start a downward trend for another six years or so.

  • http://sajkflf.com Jukai

T-Money: Actually, yes. 100%. If you are white and shave your head, you open yourself up to some stereotypes, even between themselves.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I don’t agree with that at all, Soop.
LeBron, along with Kobe, are the two most polarizing players in the NBA today.
Everyone’s gonna have an opinion on Bron’s performance, regardless of what fanbase they identify themselves with.
It’s the price you pay for being one of the top dogs.
So many people assume nowadays that MJ was loved by all. Not true. Plenty of other fanbases hated him.
You think only Orlando Magic fans were allowed to clown him after the ’95 playoffs?
Cause it was more than just them that was doing it.

  • Jesse

@MLK4Life: That whole “it’s just a game” reasoning goes both ways though you can’t hijack that just to fit your specific argument. I have the right to boo, regardless of my reason, just like you have the right to cheer or sit quietly appreciating the players and their skills. Do people take things too far when they throw things at players or get overly personal in their heckles? Yes of course, but don’t group everyone in with that particular set of idiots. Obviously any fan of the game appreciates the talent of a player like Lebron, but what fun would things be if all fans did was “shut up and watch the stars” as you put it? And at the end of the day aren’t games supposed to be about fun regardless of how much the people playing them have in their bank accounts? Respectfully cheer or respectfully boo I don’t care most importantly just have fun. After all it’s just a game, right?

  • bike

No doubt, LeBron has potential to be the G.O.A.T.

  • http://bleacherreport.com/articles/670447-dwight-howard-and-andrew-bogut-a-tale-of-two-2011-all-nba-defensive-centers nbk

I’m not saying people aren’t going to say something, I’m saying its a joke without merit. Like me, an Arizona native, calling out Cincinnati cuz they can’t win a superbowl…..Or me talking sh*t to my homie cuz he graduated with a GPA under 4.0….even though he obliterated my GPA. It is just dumb at this point

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

    bike….. nevermind…. dammm

  • bike

    Lake….I said potential….nevermind….dammmmm

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    LONG… LIVE…
    nevermind…

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

So then from now on, only Heat fans should talk sh*t about D Rose?
Only Grizzlies fans can clown on the Spurs?
    And so forth?
Or only if your team went farther than the player who you’re clowning on’s team?
So Cavs fans can’t talk sh*t about ANY team, even though they’re the loudest LeBron critics?
I just think every fan is entitled to make fun of individual players due to their shortcomings, actual or perceived, regardless of allegiance to any team.
There’s a difference between a LeBron “three quarters” joke and say, a Clippers fan saying “Heat suck! Clippers are better”.
The second one has no merit, the first one is just a fan being a fan

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Or perhaps I’m just fighting for my right to be a HAAAAAAAAAAAAATER? lol

  • http://bleacherreport.com/articles/670447-dwight-howard-and-andrew-bogut-a-tale-of-two-2011-all-nba-defensive-centers nbk

Well yes, its a free world, we can say whatever we want. But say, that guy was Bull22, and he said the 3 quarters thing. Every person that watched all of the playoffs know that every bulls fan would have loved for LeBron to be anyone but LeBron in the 4th quarter against their team. There is a difference between calling a guy overrated or whatever, and calling a guy out for something he actually buried your team with. It makes you look petty. (I do understand all the jokes right after the finals while it is still funny, but 2 months later? get over it)

  • http://twitter.com/BeezKneezy LA Huey

I agree with nbk, you can say whatever you want but you might just look silly to neutral parties. I think there’s an expiration date on some zingers while some are lifelong (ie. Robot Duncan)

  • Joe Snaps

    …and a loss!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

@ its not him making shot in the 4th Q, he can do that but what about when the pressure is on, he folds. It was no pressure on him in the bulls series nor the celtics, because those teams couldnt get themselves together in the 4th Q.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

yeah ok slick… because it’s not like both those teams weren’t clutch the entire year right? FOH

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

mike vick sponsored dog murdering, and ben rotheslberger is literally a rapist… like really. lebron james switched teams, to put himself in a better situation to win a ring but people hate him. and it’s not like anybody wouldn’t make the same or a similar choice if given similar circumstances. people are funny

Not disputing his obviously awesome balling skills, but IMO the whole overly contrived hand gestures and stealing a rebound from a teammate thing in the video gives a hint about how he really is and his perception of his own importance.
