Video: Javale McGee Gets Confused

Wrong way, Javale…

This is why Javale McGee is who he is. After missing a short runner, McGee hustles back on defense, lowering his head in frustration. Only one problem—the Wizards got the offensive rebound and were ready to re-start the offense. Too bad McGee had already run out of the picture. John Wall’s reaction is utterly priceless. Ahh, the Wizards!

Fun to watch when he’s about to dunk it, but low, low BBIQ. Perfect for the Knicks.

  • Tom Posted: Feb.7 at 11:19 am
I don’t think it’s so much a case of low basketball IQ as it is low IQ in general. Bless him.

  • Nella Posted: Feb.7 at 11:20 am
Hey, take it easy on him, he’s the ‘future of the NBA’. Ha.

  • ab40 Posted: Feb.7 at 11:26 am
he’s the future of the nba you know.. at least that’s what his mom says.

  • AD Posted: Feb.7 at 11:29 am
lmao cmon son wat is wrong

  • burnt_chicken Posted: Feb.7 at 11:39 am
    1. almost turns it over-athletic recovery.
    2. misses the shot
    3. runs away.
    4. responds to pg yelling at him by jogging! back
    5. calls for the lob
    6. misses the lob
    7. falls down =maybe we don’t need allenp to define ‘microcosm’ for us on this one…

“Javale McGee Gets Confused” – Often.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.7 at 11:42 am
And the Wizards as a team as so fundamentally sound it makes me sick.

  • Riggs Posted: Feb.7 at 11:44 am
his mom mustve been playing ball with him in the womb, and gotten too many missed chest passes.

  • spit hot fiyah Posted: Feb.7 at 11:46 am
co-sign burnt chicken, i literally ol’d when i saw this earlier today

  • LA Huey Posted: Feb.7 at 11:54 am
Is JaVale McGee the epitome of what many people feel is wrong with today’s basketball players? I feel for John Wall, man.

  • LLC#12 Posted: Feb.7 at 11:56 am
Mcgee being a fool and Wall turning it over..if only that video featured a Nick Young chuck and a Blatche-related-fail it would of been passable as a video summary of Wizards basketball…

  • niQ Posted: Feb.7 at 12:00 pm
    LOL that was epic.
    1) McGee ran with so much determination.
    2) Amir Johnson almost dashed all the way with him.
    3) John Wall’s reaction.

  • robb Posted: Feb.7 at 12:07 pm
He’s so dumb it’s not even funny. Somebody please rescue JWall and Nick Young.

  • Jetfuel Posted: Feb.7 at 12:10 pm
Hahahaha at John Wall`s reaction… It`s like he is training his new puppy

  • Allenp Posted: Feb.7 at 12:12 pm
I want dude to succeed, but damn son, this is bad. I mean, on one hand he sprints back on defense, so that’s good, but damn.
All that talent and he wants to be good and works hard, but he might be dumb as bricks. And I hate saying that.

  • Rik Smits Mullet Posted: Feb.7 at 12:26 pm
    co sign allenp.
I really like mcgee but this was plain dumb.
its okay to go running to get back on d but after you pass the 3 point line just must realise your going the wrong way.

  • Myles Brown Posted: Feb.7 at 12:26 pm
    Told you.

  • Avery Smith Posted: Feb.7 at 12:30 pm
@_@ This is propaganda! All teams have embarrassing moments. This is not an accurate representation of my team. This is preposterous! This is unfounded! This is uncalled for! This is, this is the Wizards! Remember when we…uhhh…well what about the time when…uhm…ahhh…nevermind. Go Wizards!

  • Paul H Posted: Feb.7 at 12:35 pm
This was just hilarious. Has this generation found It’s Dennis Rodman?

  • bike Posted: Feb.7 at 12:45 pm
Jane Goodall has been studying the Wizards closely this season.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.7 at 12:50 pm
Bike, idk if that is or isn’t really you, but that is absurdly racist.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.7 at 12:50 pm
And Dennis Rodman is one of the most intelligent basketball players (on the court) to ever play.

  • AD Posted: Feb.7 at 12:53 pm
yall are over reacting tho…. it was dumb but leats he hustled back

  • Paul H Posted: Feb.7 at 12:57 pm
@Nbk I just mean In terms of crazy/irrational behavior.

  • Allenp Posted: Feb.7 at 1:00 pm
Wow, that was amazingly racist. See, that is going over cats heads. I don’t know who that bike troll is though.

  • Slick Ric Posted: Feb.7 at 1:02 pm
I agree, people are overreacting, wouldn’t say it was dumb, but he definitely has to be more aware on the court. That alley-oop wasn’t his fault either, that was a bad pass by Wall.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.7 at 1:06 pm
oh, he’s a spazz for sure. But Rodman was crazy aware of everything on the court. That guy was basically clairvoyant

  • OTB Posted: Feb.7 at 1:09 pm
@Paul H – Rodman was wierd, but he had high BBIQ. Mcgee does not. Also, read his Twitter feed sometimes, the guy is just plain weird (or dumb, I can’t decide). I think during the lockout he referred to himself as “Pierre” and would only respond to people who called him that.

  • robb Posted: Feb.7 at 1:16 pm
@AllenP Is JaVale really talented or only athletically gifted? I just don’t see JaVale’s talent anywhere.

  • Allenp Posted: Feb.7 at 1:18 pm
I mean, I guess it depends on how you define talent.
I think there is athletic talent and mental talent. One can be learned to a degree, the other cannot.
McGee’s best assets or that’s he still improving rapidly. People don’t remember how raw he was coming into the League after just one year of college at a small school. He’s improved a LOT, and it’s mainly been because of his hard work.

  • AQWORD Posted: Feb.7 at 1:23 pm
I like Javale no matter what yall try to spin. anyways. It wasnt as stupid as Kobe when he grabbed his big nutz then fell over . then lost the game. That ish was hillarious.

  • Da-Meat-Hook Posted: Feb.7 at 1:27 pm
    bike’s been racist for a while now . . .

  • Red Posted: Feb.7 at 1:42 pm
Ended up watching the Cinnamon challenge too with Javale & Young, damn Young is the only person I’ve seen finish it lol.

  • LakeShow Posted: Feb.7 at 1:43 pm
I would take McGee in the top 10 of a current center draft. Don’t care if he’s stupid or not. Dude has things you can’t teach. Hopefully also has things you can teach him. I still think he can be a top 5 center.

  • kh Posted: Feb.7 at 1:48 pm
Javale just looked confused, it happens.
Wall attempting to force a lob to McGee afterwards was dumb!

  • spit hot fiyah Posted: Feb.7 at 1:59 pm
@lakeshow, that says more about how depleated the center position is than mcgee’s skills

  • LakeShow Posted: Feb.7 at 2:08 pm
Spit, your right, but still. Dude has unteachable length and athleticism. Time to get that head straight though.

  • robb Posted: Feb.7 at 2:14 pm
go to lumositydotcom and exercise your brain McGee

  • chris Posted: Feb.7 at 2:32 pm
john wall’s reaction was great, but the announcer calling the game was even better. CLASSIC

  • Soulquarian Posted: Feb.7 at 2:32 pm
I never liked Javale because I thought he was mostly playing on potential and had terrible BBIQ but his twitter won me over. Funny guy, Pierre.

  • Spaceship Jay Posted: Feb.7 at 2:47 pm
No sweat Allen; during my travels I’ve discovered that most racists aren’t racists.. but incredibly envious of another race or culture. At least the new 2k racists are. We’d probably giggle if we saw bike in person.

  • LakeShow Posted: Feb.7 at 3:12 pm
Spaceship, that is no way to live life. Always assume the worse.

  • that dude Posted: Feb.7 at 3:33 pm
    @Bike
That wasn’t called for at all. It’s 2012 let’s realize that even though we all are different colors, sizes, and shapes we are still one race.

  • LP Posted: Feb.7 at 4:05 pm
these guys are horrible, what a crap pass from Wall btw…

  • bike Posted: Feb.7 at 4:31 pm
Hmmm, another comment from another bike has folks riled up I see. Not condoning the potentially racist undertone of that comment but…one could interpret that as just another crack at poor, stupid play by the Wizards. Quite a few caustic remarks about how dumb McGee is – someone said he is dumb as bricks – and that’s okay?

  • OpineVain Posted: Feb.7 at 4:34 pm
McGee is still running the other way

  • Chubachuchi Posted: Feb.7 at 5:22 pm
Um I didn’t see bike’s comment racist at all unless you consider black people comparable to chimpanzees….
I don’t know him personally but if someone said that the first thing I’ll assume he’s talking about is the performance of the wizards as basketball players, and frankly in that light comparing them to chimps is quite fitting.
You guys are talking like that scary @ss white kid at school always being uptight and sh*t “don’t say that that’s wrong” lol. Ease up I think the only people who find bike’s comments racist are the ones who think there are similarities between chimps and black folks, check yourselves.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.7 at 5:42 pm
Or we are the ones who have read what he’s said in the past and know its racism. But you would know, you are here daily……

  • LakeShow Posted: Feb.7 at 6:06 pm
Co-Sign Chubachuchoochahchachachi. “Those mormon kids are acting like a bunch of monkeys.” – Not Racist … “That soccer team from Sudan has the IQ of a bunch of monkeys.” -Racist … Interesting how people jump to weird conclusions.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.7 at 6:11 pm
“He said Jane Goodall has been studying the Wizards closely this season.” He said nothing that had anything to do with basketball at all. After his comment about Asians last week, that was clearly racist.

  • JP7 Posted: Feb.7 at 7:24 pm
Javale McGee’s sky hook and “beard” need to go, and on that same token the raptors need to hire a team barber if they ever wana make the playoffs, I saw this game and dem dudes shape ups, sideburns, fades, tapers and hairlines were completely out of control. Derozen, bayless, the johnsons, calderon, barbosa lol y’all trippin out there, that’s not cool bro.

  • Chendaddy Posted: Feb.7 at 7:29 pm
    Cocaine’s a hell of a drug.

  • melvin ely Posted: Feb.7 at 7:41 pm
I really like Javale, he’s a bit of a knucklehead sure, but at least from what I’ve seen is he works hard and is looking to improve. This incident, along with the NBA’s least impressive triple double, the alley-oop to himself during a blowout, I think these are just manifestations of a young impressionable kid who’s surrounded by the wrong kind of influence. I think he’s a veteran team mate away from getting his act together. Can you imagine him playing with someone like Kurt Thomas or Marcus Camby? I’d bet he instantly cleans up if that happens.

  • thebugg Posted: Feb.7 at 7:58 pm
what he did really isn’t all that weird. also the pass from wall was terrible, shouldve been an easy two points

  • shutup Posted: Feb.7 at 10:22 pm
smh nbk I dont think your in a position to call anyone racist, your hypocrisy on the subject amazes me, not two months ago you were defending someone tooth and nail who made a similar racist and derogatory comment, but I guess its fashionable now to call out racism for what it is

  • Maniac Posted: Feb.7 at 11:06 pm
Almost as funny as Julian Wright when he “air-balled” that dunk lmao

  • davidR Posted: Feb.8 at 12:10 am
    lol jp7

  • AQWORD Posted: Feb.8 at 3:10 am
Cosigs Lakeshow pre race post. Dwight wasnt great from the start , he took a riding from Kobe to get going in his carrer so maybe L.A. needs to come to town.

  • BBaller Posted: Feb.8 at 3:50 am
Who da f@ck is Jane Goodall? If from what i sense is a monkey researcher or something similar then Damn that was quite a racist remark!

  • BBaller Posted: Feb.8 at 6:47 am
@nbk his comment about asians was a generalisation, not racist. There is a difference. White Men can’t Jump,Black men can’t swim, All poms are whingers,Americans are rednecks and ignorant, French are arrogant and rude,it’s simple minded but not racist in essence. I agree more thought should be put into his comments. If he’s comparing Blacks to monkeys then that’s damn right disgusting.Lets not pay him any attention.

  • nbk Posted: Feb.8 at 11:39 am
His comments about Asians was a racist generalization that was in no way true. And Jane Goodall is famous to her research and understanding of chimpanzees.

  • dfrance21 Posted: Feb.8 at 1:30 pm
I really feel like this play has been blown out of proportion. It was on all the espn shows and I kept missing it, I came here and saw it and was actually surprised that it got so much coverage. After the shot he put his head down and started sprinting back. Yes, it was silly to not keep your head up and see who got the rebound but its not really that newsworthy. To me, Javale is one of the few bright spots on the team. He works hard on both ends and doesn’t complain. You can’t so both of those things about anyone else on that team.

  • Allenp Posted: Feb.8 at 2:42 pm
It’s not interesting if you know the racist history surrounding black people and primate comparisons. That’s like American History 101.
If you know your history it goes from interesting to obviously racist. It’s not even a contest.

  • Allenp Posted: Feb.8 at 2:48 pm
Just look up the topic. Spend about 15 minutes using Google to see the history in this country of comparing black people to monkeys. I mean, you do realize that a slur for black people is “porch monkey” right?
So, with that history in mind, the comment is clearly meant to be racist. There is no other reason to make the comment.
It’s like making a comment built around stereotypes about “money grubbing jews” or “drunk Irish”. But, I think people realize that. People aren’t ignorant of these stereotypes or their history. That’s why they laugh at these jokes. The only way the joke is “funny” is if you know the stereotype that underpins it. People just don’t want to change, so they find reasons to rationalize that decision.
