Video: Gerald Green Throws Down Windmill Alley-Oop

Yes, you read that correctly.

Gerald Green is alive and well, and wouldn’t you know it, he still has plenty of hops. Shout out to the Rockets players on the bench who couldn’t hold back their excitement for the play.

gerald should use the griffin method and just dunk and get highlights…doesnt matter if he even plays poorly…..but seriously green is actually very good,

    Rockets bench ftw!

I have yet to see someone get their head above the rim like that since James White.

  • Jamski

Wow was that ever Carteresque! Can’t believe this guys bunnies are still getting stronger! Good luck to this kid, he’s had a tough go of it but definitely has game!

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

I reacted just like the announcers when the replay showed his head almost completely above the rim. Insane.

  • http://slamonline.com Eldon Khorshidi

    stop it

  • l2ising Phoenix

Shut it dowwwnnn, lets go hommmeeeeeee , Gerald can ball. He matured from his past experiences and tore it up in the D league. Respect.

  • http://slamonline.com Fut.

Damn good contenders for dunk of the season so far. Finally one not involving the Thunder though.

  • rob stewart

    that ish cray

At the precise moment when Green threw this example of sheer sickness down numerous women across the world suddenly experienced immaculate conception.

  • SDC

I knew Green could jump, but DAMN! He’s now number 3 in my “unbelievable verticals list”, Kevin Kemp and Taurian being first and second, of course. Get out of the way Blake, Dunk of the Year, reminded me of vintage Vince… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLeD6WEYFmw

  • SDC

James White, Gerald Green and Kevin Kemp are the only humans in the planet able to get their entire heads above the rim (at least that I know of). #dunkwithyourmouth

    the last replay…wow

GOOD GAWD ALMIGHTY!!!- Jim Ross voice

  • Will Lee

this is the closest thing to Vince Carter. i put him ahead of Griffin and James’ dunks

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

That’s maybe the most sheer vertical I’ve seen in an NBA game. He’s way, way up there. And an effortless windmill off an alley-oop. That’s _hard_.

I only heard like 5 days ago, that this guy is still in the league when i saw him on the highlights.

Seems like he is still jammin’!

did you all see where his head was at on the last replay?

  • http://www.yahoo.com The Fury

The Rockets bench was the additional highlight on this one..LOL. Who’s the dude in the rockets bench who stood up then realised it’s not his teammate?? Crazy hops indeed!!

  • ClydeSays

I wonder how the rim looks from up there….

  • Paul H

F*ck the Blake on Perk dunk that Is the sickest In game dunk In YEARS

  • jr724

Wooowww, vintage Gerald Green right there. I can’t remember anyone in the league getting that high above the rim in a game. Ever.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Glad to see him playing well and INSANE dunk! I think that was Thabeet who stood up, lol.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

don’t know if the NBA has had a better athlete tbh…..Vince included….James White maybe…..I mean this young man is just blessed

  • Jer Dawg

He has a great vertical. That was incredible, but unless he sticks around longer in the L he is just a one trick pony. Albeit, an outstanding one. Was it that people said he has low Basketball IQ but overall, tested low on IQ in general?

  • http://Slamonline.com Mars

This kids has always had the talent. Someone give him the chance. Ridic hops tho.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

Now let me say, this was not as beautiful as a VC alley windmill, but I don’t think VC ever got that high though…..naw I might be trippin. and lol at Gerald’s celebration, mouth at the rim!!! ahahaah

  • http://www.dimemag.com showtime

G-money always had the hops, it just his mature was question? that what got him out the league. But i see player are learning that if get a shot”just be ready” I played with dude back in 05 in highschool dude was insanely gift back then. Oh yeah that the tied for 2nd best dunk of the year.

  • B. Dizzle

what can i say? im speechless…

  • sadeye6

Anybody remember that putback of Ricky Davis in his rookie year? Where can I get a clip of that?

  • Groves

    Thankyou D-league. Thankyou Gerald Green

  • http://www.nba.com Red

You only see a dunk like this when a in flight dunker uses a defender for leverage. This here is the real McCoy. Wow!!!

  • Butler

He is not a bad shooter. Review McDonalds All American.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

OMGGGGGGG. Made me do the Starbury face!!!

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Also, co-sign Red, Chambers on Mark Jackson, Ricky Davis’ put-back, Blake on Perkins, most dunks involving this kind of height are a direct result of bouncing off of the defender. This was just straight HOPS!!!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick The Quick

The only thing missing is Reggie doing the play by play of the dunk. Just sayin.

  • 23

Awesome dunk. But I’m not gonna call this dunk of the year, because gerald green isn’t worth my attention. I’m not hating, I’m acknowledging his tremendous athletic ability, but there’s lots of dudes who are so athletic, yet their skill levels are nothing to talk about. Carter was a beast dunker, but he could shoot the lights out. He might not have been a defensive guru or a playmaker, but he could get buckets in many ways. Green isn’t a good shooter, doesn’t lock anyone down on D, he’s not a penetrator, he can dunk but that’s basically as far as his talents go. I’m being realistic

  • http://nba.com Moj

Can he shoot and defend though? Really, I haven’t really been keeping up with his story at all.

  • http://www.twitter.com/gerardhimself Gerard Himself

“jer dawg”: one trick pony? A couple of years ago, maybe. But watched him for a couple of games now (am a Nets fan), and Green is definitely playing better, smarter than a couple of years ago. Working hard out there, getting in the passing lanes, he’s giving the team (and the crowd) some energy. I’ll tell you this: it was because of him that the Nets didn’t lose by 20 or more against the Rockets last night.

I’m sooo blessed to have seen that dunk contest with James White and G.Green in person. Click on my name to read my recap posted on this very website.

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

its cuz he was the D league MVP for the ASG that he was brought in so quickly… kid can get up and he also actually KNOWS how to play basketball too! whach’ya know bout that?

  • AiRsMiTh

    I wasn’t sure I if I misread or not when I saw “Windmill Alley-Oop”… Wow…

  • OTB

Not as good as VC’s windmill alleys, but still really impressive. Carter has one wind mill alley where he caught it off the backboard. Soon as I saw this I thought of VC…but this was by far the dunk of the year.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

One of the greatest in – game dunks in the History of the NBA.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

And shout out to Marshon Brooks for giving it up.
    Perfect lob.

    Genetically gifted.

  • marc
