Video: Kevin Durant Sinks Game-Winner vs Lakers

During Oklahoma City’s final possession Saturday night, Kevin Durant went one-on-one against Metta World Peace, spotting up right over the Lakers’ enforcer and draining what turned out to be the game-winning trey. Relive it above, then weigh in below: Do you think World Peace gave KD a little too much space? Or was he playing solid defense, only to be defeated on this play by one of the NBA’s truly otherworldly talents?

    Cue Kobe anti-clutch comments…

  • Jay cutler

Cue it was everyone else but Kobe’s fault and anyone who dares think otherwise is a hater

Cutler your right, not dumping it into the post was the rest of the teams fault, shooting themselves out of it also the other teams fault…do we need to cue the stats were Kobe goes for over 30 and the Lakers lose?

Nah… but a fishing trip for the Lakers in 2 days – Book it ! Sorry but i had to. After the last entertaining Caboose v Seed – Kobe top 3 (debate) , got a feeling this thread is gonna be Grape ! Seedless.

K.D. loox pretty cumfy in his role as DURANTULA strikes Black .

Shutup, I think he was being sarcastic. Or at least I hope so…

I realized that after I clicked submit comment. It was kind of ambiguous and I read it kind of fast…..

Kobe needs to let Bynum take the reigns, Especially in clutch situations.

Fishing trip for the Fakers. Book it !

KD MVP….KD MVP….KD MVP…I’m just say’n. LBJ is a beast and had a mvp type season but KD was more of an all around beast AND clutch. He didn’t and does not shy away from last second pressure.

  • http://abcnews.com charliewinning

Best all around beast? No. Beast? Yes. One thing is for sure, whether it’s actually true or not I have a feeling Durant may take the best player in the league title after these playoffs. He’s playing too well and Lebron is playing so poorly when it counts the most. Last night, KD’s era of the West’s most dominant player officially began.

    Iceberg Slim strikes again….

  • LA Huey

I love how casual he was about the whole thing.

  • Mack

In a perfect world (for LA) Metta knows Durant’s pulling up for three and closely defends the shot, but the Thunder were up by 2 so MWP kinda had to pick his poison, and you obviously would rather a long three over a drive and dunk. Durant’s just deadly in the clutch, simple as that.

I think I’ll look back on this series as the first time I seriously considered that Durant might have a shot at being the GOAT. From scorer to clutch player to defender to all-around greatness . . . and we’ve seen the transformation in just 1 or 2 years.

    Not far off dagger.

That shot is symbolic of what is to come in the next decade.
We are witnessing the “passing of the torch”.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    Barring injury, of course.

  • DJL

Well so how did Lebron do tonight ?? Think he turned up today ?? Thunder Heat final will be epic, hope so, but I got a feeling it’s going to be Spurs Celtics

  • jose

most casual GW shot i’ve ever seen. . . thats ice. . .

  • Top$helf

Most clutch player in the game right but the cat that was most casual and had that swagger was Gilbert Arenas in his heyday

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

Then, during the Laker timeout, one can catch Durant looking over at the Laker bench, like…

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    This is what I really respect about Russell Westbrook;
During that moment, what happened? Durant waved him off. But ever so subtly. It nearly was just a matter of two friends reading each other’s eyes, but with just the slightest gesture of the hand.
As is such, Westbrook knew WITH instinct. Russell Westbrook did exactly what he was supposed to do. And damn, his instinct proved correct today. Because, once again, Durant came through.
My point is, Westbrook catches some heat. But at the end of the day, Westbrook is THE perfect point guard to compliment Durant. He knows what time it is.
And Westbrook is nasty. He has heart, and he works on his game. He may end up being a great point guard before it’s all said and done. If he’s not a great point guard now, he’s close.
Them two together, along with everything else falling into place, can dominate the West Coast for the next decade.
Although, in this day and age…
    Please excuse my rambling…

Kobe fked up both game 2 & 4 at the end, like he forgot how they won their 3peat with Shaq, defer to the big guy is the way. We witnessing Durant grabbing the torch and Kobe will never compare to MJ as a true leader, and shaq must be laughting ;)

  • Michael

Many comments reflect my initial thoughts when I watched this. How in the world he made that shot look so casual is beyond me. KD is ice cold.

  • Tom

Russell Westbrook put in work for game 4! Did he just drop 37 points mainly on Kobe guarding him?? As good as KD is, that team will only go as far as Westbrook takes them haha. I know that sounds funny, but lets say the Thunder play the Heat in the finals…the reality is there is about a %15 chance that KD will go nuts for 4 wins against LBJ and winning the MVP. No one on that team can guard Russell Westbrook, thats where they have the advantage night in and night out. KD as great as he is, benefits more from a shoot first pg than a cp3 type.
