Brandon Roy Plays in a Jamal Crawford Pro-Am League Game (VIDEO)

The former all-star’s comeback begins.

Brandon Roy made an appearance at the Jamal Crawford Pro-Am League this weekend, and showed that he still has a little something left in his basketball tank, as Roy prepares for his return to the NBA. Blazers Edge has the full details: “On Saturday, Brandon Roy did something that used to be routine: He played a basketball game. Roy’s performance at the Jamal Crawford Pro-Am League in Seattle was his first public appearance on the court since his last game for the Blazers some 15 months ago. In the interim, Roy has retired due to deteriorating condition of his knees, undergone treatment, started a comeback and agreed to sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves to start the next chapter of his career. When close friend Will Conroy first hinted and later confirmed on Twitter last week that Roy would play, it created a buzz in the Seattle basketball community, but also some skepticism. Roy pulled out of a pair of charity games at the last minute during the summer of 2011, and he’s yet to officially put pen to paper on his new contract with the Timberwolves. Yet Roy arrived about 20 minutes before gametime and changed into his red jersey. The teams in Crawford’s team are all named after NBA teams, so for one day, Roy–along with Conroy and another former Husky, Mike Jensen–was a member of the Bulls. They squared off against a Kings team featuring Isaiah Thomas and former Blazer Martell Webster.”

I know its just one video of one game where he probably wasnt even trying that hard (to be safe) but im still not swayed that he can be half of what he was. I wish him the best though since he’s one of my fav players.

  • MeloMan15

looks pretty ordinary out there. Hopefully he can recover some more before he gets back to the nba

It’s great to see B-Roy back! As far as the video goes it wasn’t impressive well just have to wait and see…

Somebody inform #5 on the red squad that he should give up on his dream, sheeeeesh.

hmmm…ok. not sure what to make of this video. if roy can draw interest from nba teams with them not knowing what he has to offer on the court, Iverson can also draw interest from nba teams and should be signed by one this summer. again not sure what to make of this from roy. #BAB

Word! number 5 missed everything he put up!

I’m a huge b Roy fan but I don’t think those knees will hold up for a 82 game season.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

He got 10 million extra dollars to chase a dream. Exactly who wouldn’t take that deal?

  • justin05

I wouldn’t. Brandon gonna be in a wheel chair by the time he’s 50!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Slick Ric

Look at the dream takers….its just one game. geesh

  • RunNGun

He looks rusty now but it’s good to see him back on the court. We’ll see what he can do with that 82 game grind.

  • pposse

i love how in the nba and even in these proam leagues they always have music playing in the background. It helps players get in rhythm.

  • ALD

pick n roll allday with him an kevin love

  • Björn Atli

seeing somebody play without knee cartilages creeps me out some.

  • Ill Smith

It’s a highlight tape with all his misses & TOs included so it’s only gonna make him look so good. That said he looked pretty nice for a charity game. Minny’s getting him at 1/4 a price so if he’s 1/2 the BRoy he was you can say the TWolves gotta steal. Cant see him playing all 82 but I feel he’ll have a good impact on a team with zero other options on the wing. Best of luck to the man on his comeback.

there is a reason the guy retired. idk why everyone thinks just because he’s coming back he will be an effective player. it’s just a feel good story, as far as i see it.

  • djb

    cosign nbk

very unimpressive for a summer video, this makes andray blatche’s video look slightly better

  • andynorstrom

That Roy game-winner against Houston might be my favourite shot of all time. Would be great if he gets anywhere near what he used to be

  • Brotha Earth

    Red #5…..stop shooting

  • patrick

if brandon roy is gonna comeback..why does he think he can make the best league? why not be a bit more realistic and play overseas?

  • Jerome

Good to see BRoy playing again. He will still be effective. Too smart not to be. Williams will benefit from Roy on the team immensely.

  • ReHeat

BRoy is now a DS (Designated Spot-up)

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Patrick, he already received a $10 million contract in the NBA.
    He won.

  • Et

    Nice t-shirt tan.

  • Skip LaMosse

He isn’t going to risk getting hurt in a Pro-AM game. If he had nothing left to offer then why would the Wolves sign him? Obviously they’ve had doctors check him out and have personally worked him out. Get a clue people and learn basketball.

  • Basketball iQ

As usual, I’m the voice of reason, this is nothing to roy, why go hard in a pro-am?When his dream if right in front of his face? Trust & believe, basketball is a full time job to someone like roy. when the lights cut on & the announcer is screaming, them same jumpshots will be falling. bet it,…. he plays in his own rhythm, kinda slow moving like p pierce but effective.

  • Basketball iQ

P pierce is very effective lololol

    Broy! stay up!

  • Papa Smurf

After seeing this video, Michael Jordan decided to sign #5 to the Bobcats.

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

Well considering that he hasn’t played in how long including surgery… you can’t be really knockin him for being kinda slow. .. I highly doubt that he will return to the best of BRoy but at least this is a start

  • joshuasymons

    not the same anymore

  • @tajpicasso

I can’t watch him ball. I keep thinking about his bones scraping. Smh

  • SeanMagicJaun

No explosion or any hint of quickness left. I don’t doubt that he can get decent minutes but won’t be that effective against starting NBA defenders.

  • i_ball

did anyone notice this – BRoy doesn’t wear knee support:)

  • Brad09

good to c him back, but dosent look like hell be a serious contributor in the nba any time soon….

  • T-Money

he looked hella slow. this is sad.

  • Marc

He may not come back as an all star but what makes yall think he wont be effective? why not just wait till the season is over to determine

  • http://www.bumpertunes.com Cal

lol he always looked slow. Then you realize he’s got you on a leash.

    You can get lumber
back support chair from the market and U.S. this in your workplace and
automobile. The chair should have lumber back support and this could be
adjusted in step with your height. Ideally the lumber support within the back
chair is place at that portion of the chair that supports the lower back. There
also are special cushions or rolls that you simply will place in your chair to
support your back after you need to sit for an extended time.
