Kobe Bryant on Team USA Trash Talk (VIDEO)

Catching up with Kobe as the Olympics near.

Kobe Bryant has never been one to bite his tongue on the court, whether it be in practice or in competition. Even though he is now teammates with the players he’s used to taking down during the regular season, it hasn’t stopped Kobe from talking smack to anyone who’s within earshot. Check the video above and get the scoop on Team USA practices and Kobe’s role.

The brothers Gasol, Pau and Marc, are NBA All-Stars. Serge Ibaka, who’s 23 years old, played in the NBA finals and finished second in the voting for NBA defensive player of the year. Point guard Jose Calderon finished fourth in the NBA in assists this past season. Euroleague star Juan Carlos Navarro was a second-team all-rookie in his only NBA season.

I find Kobe a more olished interview then Jordan he’s willing to have fun.

  • AT33

The problem is that Kobe thinks and acts like he’s the next Jordan but nobody else on this planet besides him thinks that! That is so funny but noone really wants to tell him which i find very odd!………..Kobe listen to me, you are not Jordan you were never Jordan and you sure as hell never gonna be anywhere near Jordan’s level! Hell i dont even remember when you were the best player in the NBA, when you played with Shaq he def was the top dog and your role was to be a good role player (which u weren’t very good at), when Shaq left we saw who you really are, we learned that you can only win with loads of talent (Gasol, Odom, Bynum, Fish, etc) where as Shaq for example was such a force he could take any team to the promise land just give him one good player (see what he did with Wade in Miami even though at that point Wade was better than him but he had a lot left in him), look at what LeBron did with this second trier squad in Cleveland, Kobe you would have never went to the finals in Cleveland lets get real man. You aint all that. I’m not hating or anything, I’m just being real with you so please bring your ego down cuz it’s annoying watching someone so full of himself. Peace.

Lol lakeshore is the troll. You are not wrong tho brother

  • Justin05

Derick Rose’s career will only last about 3-4 more years too. Just my opinion. You had to play strong and SMART

  • jayrose

@Justin05….what evidence do you have that rose doesnt play smart? For all those “TRUE” basketball fans and actually watch basketball kobe and rose have the same mindset which is WIN. They hate losing only. Rose got hurt and it wasnt because he was playing stupid, it was just a misfortune.

  • http://twitter.com/niyosimba niyosimba

    i didn’t know kobe was that well-spoken.

  • truthteller

AT33: I don’t think there’s a single NBA legend who won a championship by himself. Jordan needed Pippen, Shaq needed Kobe and Wade, Dr J needed Moses, magic needed kareem and the rest of the all stars that he had as well larry Bird and yes Lebron didn’t have anybody in Cleveland but never won a championship until he went to Miami to team up with Wade and Bosh. So I’m not quite sure why Kobe is getting singled out for playing with other great talents. I don’t get your point. Is there a point or are you just spewing your obvious hatred for Kobe? I think the real reason behind your hate and disdain for Kobe is that somewhere in your delusioned mind, you think MJ’s legacy will be tarnished by Kobe’s accomplishments which is silly and stupid!

Cleveland in the east compared to what Kobe played with in the West is no comparison. You want to look up lakers’ roster those years after Shaq? None of those players have/had any value other than Lamar Odom and even he isn’t mentally there most of the time in his career. Kobe got the best out of what he had around him in the DEEP western conference. Period. Smush, Kwame, Brian Cook, Radmonovic, Luke Walton, Sasha.. Please! Compare that to the Suns’ rosters the lakers played against those years. There were 2-3 good teams in the east, max. It’s not much different now either. West is always the deeper and tougher conference for any one-man team to have any success. Sorry, LeBron isn’t making it past the first round in the west with those teams either.

  • nbafan

and funny to read Kobe wasn’t a good ‘role’ player with Shaq. Yep, he was 1A to Shaq especially after the first title and Shaq returning out of shape every year since then. Lakers don’t win anything without Kobe taking on more responsibility. Kobe’s performance and Lakers’ run for the second title was as dominant as anyone in the playoffs has ever been.

If Shaq was everything alone, he would have won in Orlando.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Redd

Damn Lakeshow, bias much? Dang, you seem upset. You’re real intelligent..what with not knowing how to spell & whatnot. Can’t take differential opinions? Lol grow up bum, its basketball not life.

In a team of superstars and you need a bigger superstar.

  • Truth

I don’t understand why some people put Jordan a hundred miles ahead of everyone else….. sure he might be the best player ever but its not like you could stick him in the league today and nobody could compete with him.

cant knock kobe for having the balls to challenge the goat, of all the “next” guys he’s been the real deal from work ethic to a never back down mentality, you haters knock him for emulating the goat like that’s a bad thing, better than emulating scalabrine, and even better with being the closest ever to actually pulling it off.

  • AT33

@truthteller the reason i single out Kobe is because he’s the only one out of all those u mentioned that thinks he’s as good as Jordan, all the other ones know Jordan is in his own level and beyond that there is everybody else.

  • truthteller

@AT33: Really? Did he ever call himself or was he ever called “King?” Did he have “Chosen One” tatooed on his back? Was he given $90 million before he played a game in the NBA? oh wait a minute…that was LeBron!
But how does he think he’s better than Jordan? When did he ever say that? he has said time and time again which you guys seem to ignore or conveniently miss that he will never be MJ that MJ was in a class by himself. he has said that he just wants to be the best he can be. But of course, you don’t believe him, right? Is it a bad thing that he works his ass off and hat his work ethic is pretty much second to none? Every player including LeBron, Dwade and even Shaq’s lazy ass acknowledged that. he came out of high school as a scrawnny kid that nobody thought would do anything in the league and he had to work his ass off to prove otherwise and instead of appreciating that, we hate on him? I don’t get it. By the way,MJ has said time and time again that he and Kobe speak regularly. When you want to be the best you can be, you learn from the best. makes sense doesn’t it? Kobe wasn’t the first person to be compared to MJ. Did you have a probelem when Grant Hill, Penny, Vince Carter, TMac, harold MIner, etc were compared to MJ? WHy Kobe? Maybe because he’s lasted this long and has a better more accomplished career than all the ones I just mentioned. Again, I think you just proved my point that you have this illusion that MJ’s legacy will be tarnished by Kobe’s accomplishments and it won’t! People talk about LeBron hate! Kobe has the most haters!

  • AT33

@TRUTHTELLER i’m not sure what u talking about it’s not hate, i’m just stating a fact. Kobe is a good player, i respect his dedication and love for the game, he’s just not as good as he thinks he is. His career has been great but he needs to understand that he’s not that great as a player when u compare him to all time greats and thats what bothers me his ego is just awful to watch. Not even Jordan has an ego like that even though he would have every right to an ego like that. Btw, LeBron has been better than Kobe any given year since he’s been in the league. LeBron would have more rings if he would have played on those LA teams, thats just a fact any GM would tell u. Hell even DWade would have more rings than Kobe if he would have been on those LA squads. Kobe needs to appreciate more for playing for the Lakers and this great legendary team from day one.

  • flight

how many rings would shaq have had without Kobe?

  • Ali

@AT33 I gotta chime in here, NOBODY has a bigger or has had a bigger ego than Michael Jeffery Jordan, NOBODY! Even to this day! Sorry to break it to you. Man Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda, we can all say who would have done this or would have done that with this team or teammate, etc.
We can debate for days on MJ, LeBron, KB, Wade, Shaq, etc. The best thing that happend to Kobe was him getting caught up in Colorado. Up until that point his ego was off the charts. That whole situation brought him back down to earth with us regular dudes, and I think it humbled him, and made him more open vice having a larger than life ego. We have all known for years that Kobe patterned his game and mannerisms after MJ. Is that news to someone now? Greatness has always been defined by championship and stats. When it’s all said and done and Kobe bows out of the association there is no dening he’ll go down as one of the greatest players, winners and competitors to ever step onto a NBA court. PERIOD! Stop the debates, face the truth, and just enjoy the show…

  • AT33

@flight Prolly more then what he ended up with.

  • AT33

Btw, when Jordan was asked where Kobe will end up with when all is said and done he said Kobe will go down in history as a top 10 player at his position which in my opinion a correct assessment. So there u have it straight from the horses mouth!

  • Suberzat

^name ten at Kobe position that’s better…since u worship everything from Jordan’s mouth

  • http://nba.com GP23

Hakeem in ’94 won “on his own.” Well, without another star anyway. People seem to forget that. He had Drexler in ’95, but that 94′ Rockets squad was pretty weak despite Olajuwon.

  • 23

i never understood how people could claim jordan is in a “league of his own”. like come on… kobe and jordan are almost identical on the court. both got very nice and effective fadeaways. both won chips with pjax. both had good post up games late in their careers. both were lethal in the clutch. kb and mj are about the same size. both had stellar athleticism in their 20s. the only thing that seperates them is defense. kobe had pretty good defense in certain situations, but mj was really a tremendous an underrated defender. but kobe was no slouch. so i just dont understand how that makes mj on a different planet than kobe.

  • Drig

@AT33: D-Wade had the refs with him for that ’06 title…….Also, Jordan said Kobe would be a top 10 GUARD even in all the haters books……GUARD = PG + SG. Even then, I find it hard to see how the 2nd best SG ever can’t atleast be the 5th best guard ever….MJ was trash talking. IMO, Magic, Jordan, Kobe, Isiah, Oscar. I get the feeling I’m missing a PG here…. ( not stockton )

  • jerico

@truthteller your 100% right on the lebron statement just want to add some context this kid was told he was the greatest thing since sliced bread from aau on up and people calling you the chosenone at 13 14 years old only jesus (ray allen) could stay humble and not let that go to his head, and now lsu’s recruiting kids out of middle school the linsanity has to end.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

#2 is in the top 10 by all technicalities.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Man why do Kobe fans insist on comparing him to Jordan? Just let him stand alone man, you only hurt your argument.

  • truthteller

@AT33: I have this strong belief that you don’t even believe what you’re saying. I really don’t. Kobe’s already in the top 10 All time list!

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Who would one compare to Jordan more-so than Kobe?
    Honestly.
Kobe is the most similar player to Jordan by a long, long, shot. What is so hard to figure out about that?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Yeah that “Indian” comment was quite dumb.

As a person who appreciates Kobe the player and couldn’t care less for Kobe the man, I honestly can’t see what was in the interview to prompt all this criticism. This guy brings out idiots, both his fans and haters alike. Kobe isn’t on Jordan’s level basketball wise. We get it. What does that have to do with anything he said here?

  • truthteller

@Allenp: Honestly, the people who like to compare Kobe to MJ are Kobe haters!!! They like to do this to justufy why he isn’t “great” The media also do the comparisons not the Kobe fans!
