Iman Shumpert Reads Poetry in NYC (VIDEO)

The Knicks guard pays tribute to his late aunt.

New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert is a talented basketball player, but also a well-versed artist. Shumpert is known throughout NBA circles as a passionate writer and rapper. Earlier this week, the second year pro made an appearance at New York City’s Village Underground, paying tribute to his late aunt with a thoughtful poem.

Dammit, I actually respect and like a Knick player.

happens to the best of us ;)

Hope he doesn’t fall too far into the NY wanna-be hipster ball player trend, haha. look at Amare, Melo, and Tyson. Bow ties, fake glasses, dumb ass scarves, pirate boots and poor on court performance, lol. Focus on ball like you did 6 years ago and the team might get out of the first round.

Leave it to you to be the one to reply. In my defense, Iman is a Chicagoan lol.

  • danpowers

come on, it aint easy as a knick neither when you gotta defend jordan all the time against these “could lebron be goat?” fools as a knick. feels a bit like bearing down to vomit even though mj is from ny lol

  • Redd

LOL you’re the only Knick fan I find cool. You’re a seemingly modest dude, props. But he grew up in NC & learned ball there..lol.

  • danpowers

thanks man youre also pretty cool for a bulls fan. that mj is a nc product is out of question, just wanted to throw a little similarity in here lol

  • danpowers

the on court performance couldve been worse ;) but i agree on all the other aspects. thats not a ny wanna-be hipster problem but a league wide problem. doesnt matter which team you take. just a shame to watch. we need more charles oakley type of guys. watching 90% of the nba players off court is like… dennis rodman without the hustle

  • Redd

Lol I hear you, I would too.

No! Bad danpowers! You do NOT make friends with the enemy! This is exactly what jordan did to soften up ewing lol you Chicagoans never change…

lol, dont worry, we will curse and insult each other soon enough as soon as the first knicks vs bulls game tipps off ;)
