Prior to his game-winning heroics last night in Phoenix (the second such shot for Smith this season), JR undercut Goran Dragic in dangerous fashion on the fastbreak.

I know some of you are going to say JR tried to get out of the way, but as athletic as JR is if he wanted to get out of the way he could have.
B!tch move. Someone on PHX should have laid him out the first chance they got. For all the talent he has, he’s still a mental midget.
This is almost like when Amare had ran into Andrew a couple years ago during a Suns@Bucks game, but the outcome was much much WORSE. Players just need to understand that if it’s a break-a-way play and you know you can’t perform a chase down block to just let it go and slow down. I think he was actually trying to stop at the last second and just nudged him a little, but still as you can see even the smallest contact in mid-air can be dangerous.
This could have been a Bogut-like injury… Dumb JR
really looks like he first wanted to fould him and the draw back in the last second. unfortunate play, i hope dragic gets well soon.
reminds me a lot of when billups undercut richards jefferson and jefferson broke his wrist, when they played in detroit and NJ. yes, i’m kind of old
You’re right, I just think he was surprised he went left.
JR looked like he was going to try to make a play on the ball at first and just couldnt get there on time so decided to just run through. Unfortunately, he clipped him passing by. Wasnt the smartest play in the world, but I dont think it was intentional.
McHale – Rambis 2.0?
is mental midget about the size of an Oompa-Loompa?
hes lucky he didnt get another t in the game or the knicks woulda gone into ot
that was a dirty ass play.
more or less
this was way more dangerous than Dwight’s foul.
lol it was dirty…it just looks funny because he barely even gets him…but no question about it he got him in a weak spot while exposed. Sick game though for J.R. lol
JR breaking the #1 unwritten rule. You don’t do that at any level come on man.
Not dirty at all. Unfortunate? Yes. Careless? Maybe. It’s not like JR had malice as forethought. He ran down Goran, couldn’t quite catch him and forgot Goran was a lefty.
So it was accidentally dirty? K
I said it wasn’t dirty at all. K
And that means what, exactly?
It was a stupid play and flagrant for sure. But im i the only one who sees him getting behind Dragic instead of walking under Dragic and undercutting him. Dragic fell in a way he shouldnt fall with the contact that was made..
That was straight up dirty. JR knew it didn’t take much contact to hurt Dragic when Dragic was up in the air like that so he could be subtle with it.
You implied that I claimed it was accidentally dirty when I clearly stated that I felt it wasn’t at all a dirty play. I think JR ran him down, forgot Goran was a lefty and accidentally clipped him when Goran went to his strong hand. Dumb for not reading the scouting report, but not intentionally dirty.
No, I implied you are describing him being accidentally dirty, whether you want to call it that it not. Your opinion my opinion. If you undercut someone with no actual defensive attempt at the ball then what you did was dirty. Absent mindedly dirty or not it was still dirty. I’ve seen people get laid out for less then that. If you don’t agree…that’s fine.
I thought it was similar to Andrew Bogut Amare Stoudamire incident where Bogut began his downward spiral.
This incident was similar to the Andrew Bogut? Amare Stodamire incident which has really effected Boguts career. The pathetic response in both instances by the Bucks bench, the Suns bench and the league offfice makes me think that the white players should form their own unon both in the NBA and the NFL.(bounty case Brett Farve/Kurt Warner)
