Mike D’Antoni Angry With a Reporter After Losing to Cleveland (VIDEO)

A visibly frustrated Mike D’Antoni lost his cool after the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers. A reporter (believed to be the infamous TJ Simers of the LA Times) grilling D’Antoni about his team’s lack of defense got under the head coach’s skin, and he snapped.

Booo this man out of LA. I’m Suprised LA fans haven’t yelled out.. We want Phil, we want Phil in any of the recent games

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ben Osborne

This is funny. I’ve said this a million times but he really is a terrible coach.

It’s not his fault. He was offered the chance to coach the Lakers and he took the job because it was a great opportunity for him, but everybody knew it was a bad decision (again) by Jimmy boy, but he chose to hire the wrong guy and sh*t on everybody. He disrespected Phil, ignored their fans and screwed up the great job done by the front office when they got Dwight and Nash while retaining Pau. If you want someone to blame that’s Fredo Corleone Buss.

Lakers were playing better in the gap between Mike Brown and D’Antoni smh

I’d be mad too if someone asked me about something that I had no unearthly idea about.

Care to explain why? I do agree with you (his track record outside of PHX shows that) but I’d love to hear your insight.

His accent doesn’t fit his mustache and name…

THey are gonna rehire Mike Brown

I’m no Ben Osborne, but D’Antoni never really had to coach in PHX. Nash ran the show. Nash is not the MVP he once was and it forces ol’ Mikey to have to actually do some real coaching. His main problem is finding a way to motivate D12, which is something he both shouldn’t have to do and will never happen.
Until Dwight pulls his head out of his ass the Lakers will not be successful.

his track record as a coach is overwhelmingly successful. He has only had issues in New York as a coach. And when management doesn’t care about your opinion as coach it’s gotta be hard to be successful.

half an hour???????????? are u f*Q#$^ kidding me?? OFF WITH HIS HEAD! i didn’t think i’d hate this guy SO FAST…

He also coached the Nuggets in 1999 for 50 games and managed to lead the team to 14 wins. That team was pretty bad roster wise though. His “overwhelming” success has only come in PHX, where, even with the two-time MVP and a system built exactly for his brand of basketball, the Suns weren’t even able to get to the Finals. Yes, they lost their best chance in 2007 with the Spurs fiasco, but he had 3 other years (2005, 2006, 2008) where he couldn’t really get them over the hump and lost to inferior teams in the playoffs (e.g., losing to the Mavs in 2006).

2005 Joe Johnson broke his face. 2006 Amar’e didn’t even play. 2008 they made a huge trade at the deadline. Which has led to a championship exactly once ever.

oh and i didn’t know about Denver. — but i do know about his experience coaching in Europe. Which was extremely successful.

  • drewb

exactly my thoughts, why didnt they keep the coach who replaced brown for a few games? they seemed to be playing good under him…

  • PlanetAsia14

“We worked on defense for half an hour.” … Yup, that’s why your team’s losing coach.

  • errday

    come onnnnn kobe player-coach

  • RKJ92

the man says we worked on defense for a whole HALF AN HOUR! LLLOOOOOOLLLLLLLL, when I was playing ball in the summer for my team we would spend whole 6 hour days on defense this dudes SOOOOFFFFFFTTTTTTT….

  • RunNGun

Geebus! When are these reporters going to learn? If you want him to answer the questions, bring the man some Pringles, d@MN it!

  • Spetsnaz

It was a shoot-around on game day. You want him to have the team run 100 suicides as well?

Mike D’Antoni is really more of an offensive-style coach and Mike Brown is really more of a defensive-style coach.
