DeMarcus Cousins Ejected After Elbowing Mike Dunleavy Jr. in the Head (VIDEO)

DMC gets tossed.

The combustible Boogie Cousins was tossed out of a game last night—his NBA-leading fourth ejection so far this season—when he delivered an elbow to Mike Dunleavy Jr.’s dome. The Sacramento Kings then went on to lose 115-113 to the visiting Milwaukee Bucks. Per the Sac Bee: “Cousins was dominating the Bucks, who were without injured big men Larry Sanders and Ersan Ilyasova, with 24 points and 10 rebounds. But then he headed to the locker room and left the arena without commenting. [...] Kings coach Keith Smart said Cousins could have scored 40 points if not for his ejection. ‘Who knows what happens up there,’ Smart said when asked about Cousins’ temperament. ‘I wish I could understand it and how it works, but unfortunately I’m not that kind of guy.’ Dunleavy said after the game that Cousins only hurt his team with his actions. ‘I’m not even going to begin to reason with someone like that,’ Dunleavy said. ‘I don’t know where to begin. I don’t even know what happened the first time around. I thought I was just trying to box him out, a bunch of bodies fell and collapsed, and there was a timeout. Next thing you know, he starts barking at me. We try to run a play, and he elbows me in the head. I don’t know.’ More Dunleavy: ‘He came up and confronted me about whatever. He’s just always talking, always running his mouth, you know? He should leave people alone.’ And still more from Dunleavy: ‘He came up to me and got in my face about stuff. And we’re here to play basketball, and this guy’s got other stuff going on, obviously.’”

Remember how Cousins said he was stunned that people still thought of him with the immaturity tag? This is why Cousins. Grow the f up.

Omg.. that wasn’t even hard.. I think you guys are overreacting just a little, basketball is a man’s game if your not taking shots in the ribs, head, or face, your playing soft.. I don’t agree with DeMarcus Cousin’s immaturity at times but this was nothing Dunleavy wasn’t even injured.

Dunleavy should have karate-chopped his ass for that.

That was a borderline dirty play by Dunleavy. He undercuts the piss out out of Jordan. I mean, it was partially boxing out, but it was also a little shady,. And that was a weak ejection man. Come on. Boogie is crazy, but he didn’t deserve that one. That little shot to the knee was shady.

So everyone is cool with the chop block Lil Dun threw at Cousins knee? Cousins shouldn’t have elbowed him in the dome, but that “box out” wasn’t cool.

  • Respect

Dunleavy tried to take him out first

  • davidR

that undercut could’ve ended up a lot worse

  • i_ball

And when have you taken a soft shot from a 7 footer in the head? And what do you mean he wasn’t even injured – does Boogie need to knock him out to get a foul called? Head injuries are very serious!
Why hit somebody in the head if you want to get back at them? Hit in the ribs and you won’t get ejected it’s as simple as that

Exactly. If you watch that replay, he hits him right on the joint of his knee. That was dirty man. That elbow wasn’t even that egregious.

I was away from the computer for a couple days, but I played for team Ontario, CAN6, and for the city of Toronto, so ya I’ve taken a tonne of shots from 7 footers considering the amount I slash through the lane and get pumelled for free-throws, I’ve also had seizures, and concussions from getting hit in the head. So I can tell you for a FACT this was NOTHING I would laugh it off if this had happened to me, you obviously haven’t played at a high enough level yet, and Dunleavy did the right thing just shaking it off as I would have too. Also this wasn’t about a foul, it was about being ejected.. this was a clear foul.. not ejection worthy at all though. Simple as that.

  • i_ball

You just proved it was worth the ejection. My point was, and believe me I’ve taken hits in the head too, the you shouldn’t wait for a guy to get a concussion ot a seizure to call a flagrant 2. If you deliberately hit a player in the head it’s an ejection, no doubt about it. The fact that Dunleavy Jr. walked it is not an excuse for Boogie.

Looks to me Dunleavy was going for Boogie’s knee. They should at least fine him or something, cause that’s dangerous and not a basketball play.
