John Wall Explodes for Career-High 47 Points vs Grizzlies (VIDEO)

Wall leads Washington to its sixth straight W at home.

The Memphis Grizzlies lost 107-94 to the Washington Wizards last night, thanks mostly to the work done by John Wall. In his quest for a max contract, Wall erupted for a career-high 47 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 8 assists. Per the WaPo: “As John Wall stepped to the free-throw line late in the fourth quarter of Monday’s game against Memphis, his new career high and the Wizards’ sixth straight home win in hand, faint chants of ‘M-V-P’ arose within the Verizon Center. When asked about it later, the third-year guard shrugged off the praise. ‘Nah, I’m not no MVP, man,’ Wall said with a grin. ‘I’m just glad to finally be able to play good, be healthy, help change things around. Like I said, if this team’s healthy from start to finish, we’d easily be a playoff team. That’s how we feel.’ [...] After recording a career-high 47 points in Washington’s 107-94 win against playoff-bound Memphis, Wall is now averaging 25 points and 9.3 assists during his past nine games. The Wizards have gone 6-3 during that stint and are now 21-16 since Wall’s return from a leg injury. ‘I believe in my ability,’ Wall said. ‘I’m very confident and I think whenever you’re in your zone or you’re in a great rhythm like I’ve been in the last couple months, you don’t feel nobody can guard you no matter who it is.’ Wall’s 47 points against a strong defensive team like Memphis puts him on a short list with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. They’re the only two players to score more points than Wall in a game this season, with 54 and 52, respectively.”

David faulk, tell me how @ss tastes!

John Wall just sent a message to management. It said “MAX ME!”

  • AjFromTheDMV

Am I the only one who feels bad for D. Falk, he must feel like a total A-hole.

  • D_Nuggets

J.W. must have thought: “They’re calling us a circus, so let’s tame us some Grizzlies”

  • Dagger

Clearly doesn’t deserve a max contract . . . right guys? Somehow Wall has gone from overrated to wildly underrated.

  • Perry the PlatyPteranodon

He looks far more comfortable with his jumpshot, and his season averages are right around his usual ones, despite playing 5 less minutes. I don’t think 18 and 9 at around 45-46% should be unexpected from him next year. Definitely a max contract player, imo.

  • LP

this looks scary…..we don’t need this guy terrorizing the league, averaging 25 and 8…something must be done…

  • http://www.facebook.com/devin.williams1 Devin Williams

He tryna prove he’s a max guy, but I hope he dont get that contract and stop tryin

see NBK I told you he wasn’t a max guy

What do you think LeroyShonuff? Has Wall been a max player the last 9 games?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    Lol touché

  • speedy

I hope he stays healthy. I would like to eat my words, that he isn’t a max guy, if he plays basketball like this.

  • Yknoy

The Wiz should give him a max deal, but structure it like every year is a contract year ijs.

  • playa

Now that is playing like a surefire MAX player John !!

  • The Fury

If he consistenly pull out numbers like this, THEN he’s considered a Max player. Teams will be trying to shut him down because of this, especially those playoff teams that are trying to improve their record for homecourt advantage, let’s just see how he responds.

  • LakeShow

    He was an A-Hole.
So he should feel like one. No I don’t feel bad. I feel good.
Nothing better than shutting someone up with your play.

If Wall finds a way to consistently hit jumpshots (like he did last night), it’s sayonara for the rest of the League. He automatically becomes a Top-3 PG if he does that.

i feel bad for anyone who thinks David Falk’s opinion on a basketball player matters.

  • playa

100% agree with that, he plays it seems 2 gears upper than the rest, westbrook like athletism but definately purer playmaker

I feel bad for anyone working at the DMV.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

I feel worse for the people that are there and not getting paid

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com/ Dutch Rich

AJ may be the most compassionate person in DMV employer history.

  • Whoareyou

Ever since he’s returned you’ve seen the comfort and confidence back in his game. He hasn’t looked this “in-control” since his Kentucky days.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

nobody plays like THIS regularly. IF you had been paying any attention to John Wall over the last month this wouldn’t be a very big deal.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    now i’m officially lost.

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com/ Dutch Rich

You know… Aj…FromThe DMV…who’s the only one that feels sorry for David Falk.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

but how do we know he’s the employer, and not the employee?

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com/ Dutch Rich

Pardon my half illiterate self, I will make the edit. Meant employee.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    lol, i figured, but i couldn’t resist.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Which current guys, besides the ones you work with, do you enjoy watching?

A guy that I really like is [John] Wall from Washington. Yeah. That’s becoming one of my guys. One of my kids. He tweeted me and asked for my number and I called him and we’ve been tight ever since. He’s a kid where I like him because he called me to ask me how to get better at playing defense and how to become a good point guard.

  • shockexchange

John Wall, the Shock Exchange would like to go on record and apology for all of the dastardly, downright blasphemous things he’s said in the past about you. Please don’t give the Shock Exchange “fiddy … not “fifty” but fiddy, and knock his ____ out at the same ____ time.

Agreed. Would say the same about rondo, but I don’t think he’s ever gonna develop it. His hands just too damn big lol.
