Knicks Players Dress in Black to Bury the Celtics (VIDEO)

‘Looks like we got buried.’—JR Smith

Somewhat incredibly, the New York Knicks listened to Kenyon Martin and actually wore “funeral colors” to last night’s pivotal Game 5. The Boston Celtics weren’t fazed by New York’s dress code or play, and convincingly forced the testy series back to Beantown. Per the Boston Globe: “Wearing black to the game to prepare for the Celtics’ ‘funeral’ didn’t work out so well for the Knicks in Game 5. Knicks guard J.R. Smith, who was one of the biggest trash talkers this week, shot 3 for 14 in the game. ‘We were going to a funeral, but looks like we got buried,’ said Smith. ‘I’m done with the black thing.’”

Embarrassed themselves. Kenyon Martin avoided the question afterwards even though he was the one who came up with that bad idea. But no one pushed him on it because he’s not the dude to mess with. As the best player, Melo should have shut that idea down. Especially for a team that hasn’t won a series since 2000. Win a series and then talk trash. There’s no quit in KG, Paul and those guys.

They look like such dumbasses right now…

at least j.r. owns up to it, unlike kmart. and it was martin’s idea.

That all black thing went from Funeral clothes to Suicide Suits real fast last night! Knicks killed themselves. They better end it in Game 6! Cant afford to give the Celtics anymore confidence.

If the Celtics win tomorrow, I don’t see New York beating them in Game 7.

I agree with you. Knicks are slowly breathing life back into a team that they suffocated in the first three games.

Man yall should be glad that there are things funny and interesting as this to heat up the series. I mean i dont like the boring series like heat which one team is too overwhelming and still respect the opponents. I would prefer an interesting series like this, and gws nuggets as well.

Man jr keep talking man.. You guys so fun

Haha that was an ill idea. Too bad they couldn’t follow through. I think it’s a better way of showing team solidarity than shaving heads. I’m still trying to unsee the horror of Rik Smit’s bald dome 16 years after!

There’s a great story about the Knicks in the early 90′s thinking about doing that, until Ewing said he couldn’t due to his strangely shaped head!

  • spit hot fiyah

well, that kind of back fired

Why wouldn’t they ware black they been goin to there own funeral for years

  • danpowers

that wouldve even been embarassing if we wouldve won that game -.-

  • danpowers

indeed, that was pretty weak by martin. when asked about it i thought it was time to man up and admit how cheap and embarassing that whole idea was. that wouldve shown at least a little bit of sportsmanship. i still love that guy for what he brings to the team.
