Derrick Rose Floats in Game-Winner vs New York Knicks (VIDEO)

He’s home.

Welcome back home, D-Rose. Shrugging off a rough shooting night (7/23 from the field), Derrick Rose lifted the Chicago Bulls over the New York Knicks 82-81 on a beautiful, hanging floater (which made Spike Lee question the existence of a benevolent God.) Per the Chicago Sun-Times: “I hope it changed my game,’ Rose said of the game-winner. ‘But I’m not going to continue missing the shots that I’ve missed. I’ve worked too, too hard for this. It’s going to be scary when I do hit those shots.’ The problem is, the wait continues. Through the first two games, Rose is shooting 29 percent from the field. All that mattered, however, was the last one. After center Tyson Chandler split two free throws to put the Knicks up 81-80, coach Tom Thibodeau put the ball in Rose’s hands with 10.8 seconds left. Forget the 18 months off recovering from the torn anterior cruciate ligament, forget the forced attempts in Miami on Tuesday and forget the fact that he hadn’t pulled his patented floater out of the bag since his return — preseason games included. Rose had the ball on the right baseline, and as he went toward the hoop, he saw the 7-1 Chandler coming over to erase his attempt. ‘I missed enough damn shots the whole night,’ Rose said. ‘Me, I’m used to those situations. That’s why I work so hard. And I’m not going to continue missing the shots that I’m missing. I work too hard. That’s normally a shot I take during the game, but they gave me enough space to get the shot off. I’m used to hitting floaters, and [Chandler] jumping probably helped me hit the shot.’ It helped the Bulls even their record at 1-1. They have beaten the Knicks six games in a row going back to the 2011-12 season. ‘Derrick Rose is a great talent,’ Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. ‘The play he made at the end, I haven’t seen many guys do. A 15-foot floater over a 7-footer?’”

Would’ve been happy for him if it was against any other team.

Carmelo had the worst last second shot selection that I’ve seen in years. HOW do you shoot a contested 3, when you inbound the ball with 5.8 seconds? He could have gotten a pass, posted up, backed down and shot a 12-15 foot turnaround jumper. It doesn’t have to look amazing to win the game. Just win.
