Derrick Williams Blows Off the Backboard Dunk (VIDEO)

As the Sacramento Kings put the finishing touches on a 29-point blowout of the visiting Chicago Bulls, Derrick Williams attempted a spectacular jam off the backboard. The result was an epic FAIL. But Williams was able to make fun of himself. Per the Sac Bee and Twitter:

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do,” Williams said of the kind of dunk he was attempting.

Kings coach Michael Malone was not amused and removed Williams from the game.

“Derrick’s a good kid so there’s nothing malicious in that but I don’t want to disrespect the Bulls,” Malone said. “I don’t want to disrespect (Bulls coach) Tom Thibodeau, I have too much respect for him. At that point in the game when you’re up big, just lay the ball in. Derrick wasn’t trying to showboat or disrespect anybody but I told our guys, be good to the game.”

“The hardest part was trying to find something to say to him after making that play,” said DeMarcus Cousins. “I don’t know. You’re going to have to ask D-Will about that.”

this is why i don’t mind guys going for nice dunks in a blow out. if they make it it’s a nice highlight and if they miss it the embarrassment of having it all over the internet is enough of a punishment.

Though this is laughable, I’m liking that dudes are starting to pass off the backboard a bit more this year. It looks very dope and i hope they continue.
