LeBron James Throws Down Huge Dunks in Practice (VIDEO)

Better than the actual Dunk Contest?

The media were allowed to capture the end of the Miami Heat’s practice in Phoenix on Monday, and witnessed LeBron James kissing the sky on at least three monster dunks. If this kind of footage continues to surface, no one should ever be mad again at LBJ for never entering the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest.

He seems to always to this before the dunk contest so that people can talk about him, “O what if he entered the dunk contest?” LeBron sure loves getting attention. Just enter already seriously what is this guy afraid of just enter once who cares if u lose plus u won’t because it’s probably fan voting anyways lol.

  • Krisjanis

Do I seem to be the only one who’s not seeing anything THAT impressive?

  • Lenin-Gil Phillips

Ya they are just off the walls in game dunks

  • Mario_23

Those dunks prob won’t win a dunk contest, but they’re impressive nonetheless. These guys like having fun, but it’s about time they turn it up for the second half of the season or else they’ll be in trouble.

  • dannyb

My hairline is better than his

  • Woldstar

Lol wow his hairline is getting bad.

  • Saleem Rainman

well his hops are better than urs lol

  • pposse

it would be so awesome to see lebron enter his name into the dunk contest and then out of no where Blake Griffin reneges on his new proclamation and throws his hat in the ring just to humiliate Lebron (which Lebron rightfully deserves after his original dunk contest guarantee!)

  • robb

    Not at all.

  • robb

Lebron’s a great athlete, but he’s not a creative dunker, he’s said it himself. It doesn’t make sense for him to participate because if he wins it would be because he’s Lebron and everybody would give him 10′s undeservedly and if he loses everybody would say he under performed and he sucked.

  • The Mauve Avenger

Throw the ball off a Kia. Maybe if his dunks had some kind of blatant product placement I’d be impressed.

  • victorsNOquitter

Not trying to be a LeBron lover.. but if your not impressed it’s because you can’t dunk… that second one was really impressive coming from someone who CAN dunk…

  • Allen Iverson

“we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen, we’re talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking about practice. Not a game. ….. Not the game, but we’re talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that?”

  • Matisse

The first two were impressive idgaf.

  • Stepfan Raiford

Lebron is really good at this troll thing.

  • Ugh

    Bahaha. Zing!

  • Daniel Noel

thank you! lbj is athletic as hell, but david lee was the first person i saw dunk a ball off the wall; mcdonalds high school dunk contest

  • Daniel Noel

i wanna between the legs 360 windmill lebron. c’mon man!

  • Ugh

It’s the most basic reverse bounce lob you can do, with the ball caught low and brought up for the dunk. It’s easier than a windmill and seeing as few players can put down a lob/alley-oop before they can reverse, it’s pretty low on the scale of difficulty.

A catch-high-bring-low-return-high (i.e., and actual ‘double pump’) bounce lob featured in Spud Webb’s dunk contest win twenty five years ago. That’s easily harder than LeBron’s. The off-the-wall pass is just flashy showmanship that has to do with your throwing arm and aim, nothing to do with your dunking ability.

For real, these are legit…the speed, acceleration, takeoff, power…..nothin fancy, just hammers

  • BE.water

That 400 Degreez title track playing in the Background is my favorite Juve song of all time

  • sim888

‘He seems to always to this before the dunk contest so that people can talk about him.’ – Totally agree. Put your money* where your mouth** is.

    *pride, **iPhone videos

  • sim888

You’re not the only one…They’re ‘good’ dunks for sure, but yeah, not THAT impressive…Hell, Wall threw down a windmill off the wall in a charity game, 1 take (CP3 charity, 2011).

  • sim888

i’m more impressed by this, and Gerald isn’t even dunking anything ;)

  • Shooting Guard

doesn’t matter what you think, these dunks are legit

  • MasterSplinter

I wouldn’t be… i can get pretty close that to that…. I am 6’0, tall, and white… I played Junior College basketball and some D2 ….. I can’t come close to what lebron was doing. If you are more impressed by this… Stop watching NBA, and just follow track.

  • pposse

    stop making excuses

  • Busta213

Great in-game dunker, but Lebrons style just doesnt lend itself to a dunk contest.

  • LP @ThisisEther

Please post video of you getting pretty close to this, at 6’0….

  • grgeblck

I think only who can dunk can leave a comment on his dunks. The rest of the world should shut up. I am not a LBJ fan by the way.

  • ATL dynamite

    You high? (not your jump)

  • Jesse Tyler

Wheres the finess? Hes supposed to be the most physically gifted athlete in NBA history. Nothing between the legs, no 360 spins, and nothing that really shows distance or elevation. Its basically just generic moster slam dunks. Compared to some of the things Vince Carter and Dominique Wilkins did, im not really impressed.

  • Jesse Tyler

I dunno, for someone who’s been labeled as the most physically gifted athlete in NBA history, im not seeing anything mind blowing. Nothing between the legs, no 360′s and nothing that really shows distance or height. These are some big time dunks but not anything that some guy who took a bunch of PED’s that can jump high couldnt do. Compared to the things ive seen from Vince Carter and Dominique Wilkins, im not that impressed.

  • robb

    please show us

  • robb

lol, no I’m not making excuses for him, it’s just the way it is.

  • To be fair Deandre Jordan has better dunks in pregame or training then those from Lebron in that video..

  • Ugh

This comment makes the least sense to me.

I’m now retired and pushing 40 and I can do the three dunks that LeBron put down in this video now – they’re totally basic dunks. I understand that easily impressed people who have never even seen someone dunk (and they exist on Slam en masse) can be wowed by these, but I don’t get how people who can dunk (and can apparently nearly touch the rim with their nose) think these are good dunks. They aren’t complicated, they aren’t finesse, they aren’t pretty, there’s almost zero technique to them – they’re just by LeBron.

There are standards to dunking, just like there are standards to any art – you master the tomahawk, the reverse, the windmill, the Eastbay Funk and progressively get more and more complicated based on your increasing skills and creativity. LeBron literally does the same dunk over and over and over again. He mastered the tomahawk and the two handed reverse and pretty much stopped developing. He doesn’t even pull out the Eastbay in games like he did in high school. Those same two or three dunks he does over and over again – just higher than most players and faster than most players, but by that standard Shaquille O’Neal should be one of the all-time great dunk contestants as his two or three dunks were likewise harder than anyone else’s.

    Seriously, guys. Seriously.

  • sim888

While Lebrons dunks are OK, they are not _the most amazing dunks, like, ever, shut it down, game over, give him the greatest dunker of all time trophy right now!_ And while you’re not watching track….you have seen Green actually dunk right?

Please upload a video of your ~56 inch leap, i’ll even make it into a fancy gif with rainbows and explosions for you….i’ll even throw in a unicorn. :)
