Michael Redd Is Absolutely Exhausted … from Sitting on the Bench

by Marcel Mutoni

China and Wisconsin are far apart. This, Michael Redd, found out the hard way.

Not only was he made to travel an unfathomable distance, but the poor guy had to comfortably sit on the bench for two whole weeks while his fellow Redeem Teamers worked extremely hard to bring the Gold Medal back home.

All of that flying in chartered jets, sleeping in luxury hotels, and having the best seat in the house for some Olympic hoops has drained the energy from Michael’s body and soul.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel brings us his tale of fatigue and woe:

“The body took a lot of wear and tear, no question about it,” Redd said. “We’ll see how it goes, and we’ll figure it out.”

“It was draining, though. I’ve been trying to get revved up again the last few weeks.”

If Redd is tired, we probably shouldn’t expect to see the LeBrons and Kobes until sometime in February. They’ll need all the time they can get to recover from the summer.

and it wasnt even a bench, they were some comfy chairs, with big gaps for leg room, Id like to see him do a days labour on a building site…. meh x2

Sigh…. I have Little to NO love for Michael Redd, stemming from his horrible re-signing with the Bucks instead of signing with the Cavs. The east has been a coast filled with “one man shows” and him not signing with the almighty Lebron Christ was a pretty stupid move to me. Now the Celtics will probably dominate the east another 2-3 years. And his Olympic run was useless.

Redd is trying to get back into his old playing shape. That shape being fat.

    Co-sign mat.

Despite the lack of minutes, I’m sure he worked hard on practices, where he’d need to face a slightly better crew every day than regularly Milwaukee. It was a long summer for him, I can accept that.

    cosign underdog. Seriously, y’all.

  • Nathalie

    redd was on the team??

  • Keith

You’re right underdog. Michael Redd did work hard on his game in practice. Just a shame his game consists of sitting behind the 3 point line waiting on the ball. Yeah, he must be exhausted.

Are you guys assuming that team USA doesn’t practise at all?

  • Diesel

The dude has over a month off until training for the season starts. Who’s he kidding?

Seriously, you don’t hear LeBron or Kobe whining about being tired or drained. Shut up Michael Redd, there are better ways to get attention.

tough crowd commenting on this post today

  • Mark Z

Redd exhausted himself playing lockdown d… Back at his hotel room in NBA2K9…

  • Static

Well if in practice he was the focal point to show the Redeem-ers how to close out a guy behind the arc, he must be tired seeing as USA got lit up consistently…he musta been lighting the other guys eyes on fire judging from their defense in the game. Still meh

  • starbury&stevey

  • Bryant Reeves

As someone who is currently unemployed (for the first time in his life), doing nothing all day can be excruciatingly exhausting. I’m with you Redd.

Perhaps he suffers particularly from Jet-Lag? One wouldn’t even know.

  • http://www.nba.com/celtics/ Moose

Dacre, then everyone would suffer jet lag, ones who played, and they’re not saying anything.

  • http://nbaukfan.blogspot.com/ mat smith

yeah, most people vacation during breaks, jetlag is part of a summer holidays abroad, not “oh I HAD to fly to China, was SO tired” meh city….

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    LMAO @ Nathalie.

  • Chukaz

Hey, if Michael Redd is tired, imagene how Tyshaun Prince and Carlos Boozer feel. On more important news, Kobe Bryant is still alive.

  • underdog

Interesting fact. Basketball players work more than 48 minutes a day. (Well, except the Jerome Jameses…)

  • jay

it´s also the training dudes, not just the games…dammit do I have to spell it out= Training is a B#tch

  • holden

    ooooouch.. this is rude.

  • Rome

I agree with youngmuggsy (Are you guys assuming that team USA doesn’t practise at all?)

-THANKS! 99% of the comments in here are idiots. The U.S. team as a whole worked their butts off in practice. The second and third string players pressure the starters and make them better for real competition. Stop looking at the game and think realistically people. Probably a lot of you haven’t played organized basketball in a day of your life. You would know that no matter who plays, everyone worked hard or contributed in some way to win a championship…and Practice is key!
