Reports: Police Called To Isiah Thomas’ House

    by Ryne Nelson

Police were sent to Isiah Thomas’ home early Friday morning in response to a call that a man had overdosed on prescription drugs.

WABC-TV in New York City was the first to report the incident.

Harrison Police were called to Isiah Thomas’ house last night around midnight for a report of a possible overdose.

Police confirmed they were at the home, but refused to discuss any details. Other published reports say the call came in just after midnight, describing a 46-year-old male.

The New York Daily News spoke with Police Chief David Hall, who reported these details:

The victim had consumed roughly 10 Lunesta sleeping pills, Hall said.

“He was unconscious, but breathing on his own,” Hall said.

Neither the Knicks nor the police will confirm the victim’s identity. Knicks officials would only say that Isiah is fine.

No inappropriate comments please. Until we find out more information show some respect.

I agree Khalid, lets keep the snarky comments to yourself until more information is known.

I hope that he seeks some psychiactric help (I don’t think that he’ll have any physical complications). As Khalid’s comment implies, i think that the end of Isaiah jokes, I think maybe for good.

    • Ken Posted: Oct.24 at 4:25 pm
      Fire at Isiah!

    • Ken Posted: Oct.24 at 4:25 pm
I mean, I hope everybody is OK.

    • Khalid Salaam Posted: Oct.24 at 4:26 pm
      Ken, do not try me/us.

    • RV Posted: Oct.24 at 4:30 pm
i thought it had been confirmed it was Thomas?

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.24 at 4:34 pm
Damn, this is unfortunate. Whomever it is, I hope for the best.

    • B. Long Posted: Oct.24 at 4:35 pm
      Pray for Zeke.

    • Jose Posted: Oct.24 at 4:39 pm

    • nic Posted: Oct.24 at 4:39 pm
all god’s blessings on isiah and the entire thomas family.

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.24 at 4:41 pm
@RV: All we know is it was a 46-year-old male. There’s a chance it’s Isiah (who’s 47), but nothing is confirmed.

    • MENDEL Posted: Oct.24 at 4:46 pm
If it was candy coated and came in the mail, investigate Michael Jordan.

    • andrew mcneill Posted: Oct.24 at 4:46 pm
SI.com is reporting that it is in fact Zeke.

    • doyouwantmore Posted: Oct.24 at 4:47 pm
If it is Isaiah he must have hit a major rock bottom after keeping a stiff upper lip for so long. Hope he’s okay.

    • MENDEL Posted: Oct.24 at 4:50 pm
or any former owner of the CBA

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.24 at 4:50 pm
Well, if it is indeed Zeke, my prayers go to him and his family.

    • MENDEL Posted: Oct.24 at 4:51 pm
      But g-d bless Isah

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.24 at 4:52 pm
@andrew: SI reported via Bloomberg which reported via WABC-TV…which is linked in this article. There is no confirmation.

    • RV Posted: Oct.24 at 4:52 pm
yeah there’s TV stations reporting it was him, not sure if they confirmed it though…

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.24 at 4:59 pm
      Thanks for the clarifiication Ryne.

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.24 at 4:59 pm
And I used double “ii” for emphasis.

    • Ty Posted: Oct.24 at 4:59 pm
Damn. And thanks to Khalid for the proper respect.

    • albie1kenobi Posted: Oct.24 at 5:00 pm
wait so has the victim recovered yet? ugh. attempted suicide is not something to joke about.

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.24 at 5:15 pm
Facts are really limited right now. Check the Daily News story…which is still updating. Joshua Thomas, Isiah’s son, says the sleeping pill allegations were false. It’s possible Isiah went to the hospital with his daughter, who suffers from hypoglycema.

    • RV Posted: Oct.24 at 5:19 pm
wow, that’s quite a stretch then, you’d think it would be easier to get the correct story when there’s so many people in a hospital, but i guess it adds to the rumors as well

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.24 at 5:23 pm
@RV: exactly. First off, is Joshua Thomas in New York or in Bloomington, Ind.? Secondly, he says Isiah’s at a hospital in Conn., and all published reports say the victim’s in White Plains, N.Y.

    • O-Easy Posted: Oct.24 at 5:32 pm
Hope he’s ok, if it is him. Doesn’t really seem like something he’d do either. We’ll see…

    • fluxland Posted: Oct.24 at 5:40 pm
WTF!!!!! Zeke… hang in there, please!!! Khalid, respect man, thanks. I expected nothing but 30 comments of jokes.

    • Diesel Posted: Oct.24 at 5:40 pm
@ Khalid and anyone else that was invloved in the thread of comments after the Vince Young depression article…someone commented that Thomas’s behavior was very reminiscent of a bi-polar person. Maybe they were right.

    • jbn74sb Posted: Oct.24 at 5:46 pm
Reports that Stephon Marbury was standing outside the home shouting “Wanna get in the truck?” have not been confirmed.

    • Allenp Posted: Oct.24 at 5:47 pm
USA Today said that an ambulance was called to the house because somebody ODed on sleeping pills.
“Ambulance called to Isiah Thomas’ NY home”
      was the headline.

    • Cheryl Posted: Oct.24 at 5:50 pm
I feel bad for him, if it is in fact Thomas. The last few years were rather tough on such a proud man. I wish him well.

    • Dark Posted: Oct.24 at 6:06 pm
Some of the comments on the ESPN boards for this story are just crazy disrespectful. The situation is way beyond basketball; just need to wish Isiah speedy recovery, and that’s all.

    • Sheed Posted: Oct.24 at 6:36 pm
you’ve gotta be able to dream when u r part of the knicks

    • BETCATS Posted: Oct.24 at 6:39 pm
      very sad.

    • Dacre Posted: Oct.24 at 9:10 pm
I personally dont think it is Isaiah. He was one of the greatest fighters and strongest willed players ever in the league so for him to find this as a solution to issues in his life does not fit in any way….hang tough warrior-man.

    • what Posted: Oct.24 at 9:11 pm
Apparently it was his daughter, not him

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.24 at 10:55 pm
@ chintao: Just in case your idiotic @ss didn’t read my comment on the David Lee situation, here’s what I wrote:
Don’t ask me to route for a different team, b!tch. New York will always be my team. Since you’re so keen on dissing the Knicks, why don’t you go f*ck yourself? I’m more of a loyal fan than you are too, so shut your little trap. I’m getting tired of these fake@ss Knick “fans” like chintao. Quit talking out your @ss kid.

This has nothing to do with Bball anymore, so it best be kept out of [b]any[b] Bball-reference-comments.
This goes way beyond Bball any I feel bad for anyone in that situation, be it my neighbour, the milkman or Zeke.
Maybe he needs to get out of that business and quick.

I’m ambivalent. Yeah, Isiah was garbage in his office and sideline job. On the other hand, this whole thing smacks of classic Greek tragedy. If this incident went down it seems, then hubris might be the word.

    • [...] When news of Isiah Thomas’s overdose from sleeping pills broke on Friday, you just knew things would get a lot worse before they got better. Even though all signs pointed to him being the one who was hospitalized, the former Knicks coach told reporters that it was his daughter who required medical attention. [...]

God Bless him and his regardless of who it was/is. We may ridicule his dicision making as a coach/gm and some of you hated him as a bad boy but he is a person first and HOFer 2nd. Peace
