Quentin Richardson’s Private War Against the Celtics Rages on

Last year, Q-Rich inexplicably (though, hilariously!) began popping off at the mouth about the Boston Celtics. And of course, despite the verbal bravado, the results for Richardson and the Knicks remained the same: Boston routinely humiliated New York on the court.

This season, Q has a bold new tactic in his never-ending quest to slay the men in white and green.

Since he and everyone else knows that the Knicks have no chance on the basketball floor against the Celtics (even when they’re short-handed), he’d like to settle matters away from the bright lights of NBA arenas. Preferably, in a dark alley somewhere.

From the Boston Globe:

“I think a few of those guys know they can’t just say anything to us,” said Richardson. “I’m just real curious to see what those guys will be saying if we weren’t in a basketball league, and didn’t have referees. I mean it wouldn’t be the same story. I mean they are the world champions and rah-rah-rah, but the tough part I don’t factor.”

“I come from a neighborhood where you can say what you want to say, but ’til you do something, it don’t mean nothing. Some of those guys are happy to get a ring, but you ain’t been in the league long enough to talk to people like that. I don’t have a lot of respect for that. Like I said, I’d be curious to hear what they have to say in a different setting, I’d be very curious to see that.”

It’s painfully evident that Quentin Richardson was born in the wrong century. He should totally have been a cowboy in the Wild West. His spirit is too free, too wild for these placid times.

    no, he wouldnt. the funny thing about the knicks is their only toughest player is nate robinson, why? because he doesnt talk he just picks u up and slams you. quentin (ill be damned if i call him by his nickname) should stfu, he doesnt dare come through the neighborhoods that i walk through over here in NY so why is he and zach talking about being tough? (sorry for the rant but i seriously hate some of these knicks)

    Although Q has played all right this year, his play ever since he left Nash-town should just make him focus on bball instead of acting all tuff. If he follows his own logic “I come from a neighborhood where you can say what you want to say, but ’til you do something, it don’t mean nothing.” he must be feeling pretty insignificant as a player.

    I agree with Russ. Plus he’s talking all this smack while averaging 7.25 points a game on 7-32 shooting from the floor over the last 5 games against them (1 DNP) Maybe he is just missing the good ol’ days with the Suns when he was actually considered a good player.

    Regardless of how ridiculous it may sound, someone needs to stand up to the Celtics, particularly KG. 1 championship has turned that man into an absolute despot, as we’ve all seen in recent games and youtube clips. He needs to be humbled. Smack him in the face and you’ll have my eternal gratitude, Q-rich.

    PVwhat? You make it sound as if KG is a bully, he has been yelling and screaming since his rookie year and most of his ranting is to himself…Quintin didn’t stand up to anyone, he ran his mouth w/out backup. As far as The Celtics being anal circles..I don’t think so, If you actually watched the games you’d see that teams come after them both verbally and physically. (Everyone goes hard at the champs in every sport..period)Why is it that when people have no game they want to fight?

    There’s no place in basketball for that type of mantality or potential behavior, keep it basketball. All this tough guy activity from these so atheletes that believe it or not, younger generations look up off feed of this. To me all around the board this is Urban/Inner city stupidity.

    Saw that interview on MSG. Hee-larious. I thought he was just trying to distract the reporters from talking about his 3-10 shooting. Q & Pierce definitely have a long standing beef. My favorite incident was when QRich was still on the Suns and Pierce hit a long 3 in near the Suns bench in Phoenix and doing Q’s head bumps. D’Antoni lost his isht and demanded the refs call a T on Pierce. Funny.

    i can see what hes saying, they all talk so much trash, watched last nights game and there was so much trash talk, (the knicks played terribly and i dont really think they get d’antoni’s system, if youve got the look take it not force the look)and leon powe was dominating in the post but on the defensive end he was holding z-bo down on the board and it was persistantly not called, when zach did something about it they were issued a double technical. not a knicks or celtics fan im a cavs man but the celts apart from rondo allen and scalabrine are all too big for their boots, theyll quiet down when the cavs win it all this year

    Uhhhh, winning a chip is DEFINITELY doing something. I mean, we do have the two top trash-talkers in the L (Pierce and Garnett) but Garnett wasn’t even there. I wonder who he’s talking about. Oh, and witness: Walker wasn’t even active last night. Nice try.

    yeah, PP and KG talking sh*t is somethin’ new? They’re the same guys they’ve been the past ten years except the have rings now. Ray would only use proper language while coldly icing games with clutch free throws. i always enjoy sh*t talking more when it’s coming from someone like Eddie who’s doing his part in helping to win a championship. It sounds so much better than when it’s coming from someone like Ruben Patterson while he’s getting torched by Kobe. C’s will keep talking and winning. C’s/Lakers Finals will be good. Knicks/C’s – big first round matchup?

    Quentin is a dumb mofo. Really, he’s tougher because he grew up in rough surroundings. Where does he think about 99 percent of US players grew up in? Does is he think the Celtics players came from picket fence suburbs. The wacked out turd probably thought he was playing the 1980s Celtics.     @Reno: By all means use it if you wish. Until the Knicks get much better and start beating The Celtics there isn’t a rivalry. A rivalry can consists of hard fought (figeratively) games for years if both teams respect/dislike each other (key word RESPECT). Eddie House can talk trash b/c he serves a purpose and has his whole career, Richardson can not b/c he doesn’t and never will serve a purpose in this league. The biggest excuse for being tough (an anal circle) is to say you’re from the hood. There is a difference between being tough and being a man..toughness comes out when needed.

    I would love to see richardson to meet leon powe in a dark alley. I really don’t think he’d be as tough as he is talking. Just read up on Leon. Furthermore, the league should be suspending him for physically threatening remarks toward another team. Can you imagine in the real world one of your coworkers saying the crap Q said and having no reprocussions? Not just Quinten, a lot of pro athletes need to be treated like men, not coddled and excused for
    being total punks. Just saying……..
