Mark Cuban Informs J.R. Smith That He’s Going to Snitch on Him

by Marcel Mutoni

So, this should end well.

Things got testy between the Nuggets and Mavs last night, and wouldn’t you know it, but Mark Cuban decided to get more than a little involved. After J.R. Smith apparently threw an elbow in the waning moments of the first half, the Mavericks’ team owner let him know that he’d be snitching on him to the League office, and expected him to face a suspension.

Unsurprisingly, George Karl did not appreciate Cuban’s little threat. From the Rocky Mountain News:

“I don’t care if Cuban barks, but he shouldn’t be barking at my players,” Karl said. “He barked at J.R. at halftime. I thought it was very unprofessional, irresponsible. And if he sees something that he wants to deliver to the league, fine, he can do that.”

“But he shouldn’t be on the court talking to one of my players. And he was talking to J.R. about an elbow situation. And I thought it doesn’t look good for anybody.”

Hilariously enough, J.R. Smith offered Cubes a pair of signed shoes following the game in an effort to calm everyone’s nerves and show that there’s no ill will, and naturally, Mark refused them and continued to rage through the night. Fun.
