  “Boy” isn’t racially insulting most of the time when it comes from a black person, but it may have insulted Carter as a man. No grown man likes to be called “boy” no matter what color they are. However, that ref is usually pretty calm. I’ve seen him in several games and he seems like the calm type.

  Vince only “goes off” when he’s getting booed when the Nets are in Toronto. Spite seems to motivate him, otherwise he realizes he’ll actually have to work and he just shows up. All other meanings of the word “boy” aside, maybe the ref was just referring the the fact that Vince acts like a spoiled little kid.

  Just so you know, the Nets have played the Hawks better than any team has this season thus far (2 of Atlanta’s 10 losses have come at the hands of the Nets). He scored 26 in the first game and 29 in the second game. So… whether he has motivation or not, I expect him to torch us again tonight (and for Devin Harris to blow by Mike Bibby all night as well). Of course I’m also hoping we change things up and actually get a win this time.

  he was just mad he felt the ref didnt respect him as a man, this is not in a racial context, unless VC went blind or some dramatic other sh!t happened to him that made him loose the ability to see color.

  It is a disrespectful tag. I was called a “good boy” at work last week…I gave a funny look and they said, ‘Oh good man…I mean’…. Yeah it might sound complimentary in your mind but when you say it….not so much.

  Hawks are 0-3 against the Nets. 21-8 against the rest of the League. Props to VC for hitting an amazing shot. Hawks blew a 20 point lead. We deserved to lose that one…sigh.

  The NBA is in a tough spot regardless of its actions though. Back the Ref? Or defend the rights of a player? If neither, what consitutes a middle ground? Either way, it sets a precedent.

  If you watch the replay, he was about 2 inches away from committing a backcourt violation… but yeah… tremendous shot. I’m thinking for guys like VC, Kobe, T-Mac… shots like that are about as easy as regular 3 point shots.

  They have the leg strength and the body control (core primarily) to get off that shot Myung. The extension that they can get off from the shoulder to elbow to wrist is also better than a shorter guy for obvious reasons. (Think of a catapult and sizings…)
  I doubt that the refs would have called a back-court violation anyway though Myung.

  Yeah… the refs probably wouldn’t have called it, but I saw the replay enough times to see that Vince nearly touched the ball right before it went into the backcourt and then he came up the court to nail that 3. It was an awesome shot, regardless. I love my team to death, but when you give up a 20 point halftime lead, you deserve to lose. Hopefully we’ll get back on the winning track tonight. I’ll be at the game to root on the good guys, but we match up terribly against Houston. If we can make it a track meet, we have a chance. Horford cannot guard Yao, and Artest will put the clamps on Joe. We play well at home, so hopefully we can pull out a win but I expect another close one, regardless.

  Myung, if you saw what the Raps did to houston last night, without JO and Jose, and only 19 from Bosh i wouldnt worry. Houston looks bad, and Mac looks like hes on the verge of a nervous breakdown talking about not knowing whats wrong with his game, and the system and spacing being all messed up.

  I see the same thing with LeBron… he’s not a good 3-point shooter by any stretch of the imagination but he seems to shoot with the same % whether he’s at the line or 5 feet behind it.

  Battier, tmac and Artest not playing…
  Still, the rockets let you shoot close to 60% from the floor and STILL had it come down to a great play by JJ to Bibby.
  The Hawks were good, no doubt, but a 100% healthy and in SYNC Houston team would’ve more-than-likely pulled out a W…yes they are *my* team.

  Couple things, Hursty. First of all, I admit the Hawks DO match up poorly against Houston (especially because Yao is 7’6″ and Horford, on a good day, is 6’10″). If the Rockets are fully loaded, we would’ve had a much tougher challenge. I know we caught a break with those guys being out. Secondly, I picked the Rockets to win the title this season so I have a lot of respect for them. Third, it doesn’t matter who the Hawks have played this season; nearly every game has been close. We play to the level of our competition, it seems. All that being said, I’m glad we got the win. We needed a win like that after losing the way we did Friday night.

  I wish I had the confidence to pick my own team to win the Title… but RIGHT NOW, its an illusion unfortunately.
  Also, funny about how fans come out to watch a successful team huh? Hawks this time last year vs. now? What a difference.
