Citizen Jackson

Jax has his heart in the right place.

Some view Stephen Jackson as one of the bad boy’s of the NBA. Fueled by off and on-court incidents, he’s sometimes labeled as a thug. Anyone who’s watched him play or gotten to know him though, is sure to rewrite that label as a player with undeniable talent and heart who’s got his teammates’ backs. — Adam Fleischer

Captain Jack is hands down my favorite player and the blurb below that picture is spot on. Sure, sure you can talk about the Palace all you want but remember that Timmy Duncan (of all people) called him “the ultimate teammate.” I remember reading an article about the ever disappointing Sarunas Jasikevicius lambasting the Warriors and his experience there, then taking a step back to make sure that the interviewer knew he wasn’t talking about Jack.
    And, hey: nice photos.

“i shoot 3s like steve jackson, say my name watch a bitch reaction”

I’ll admit I was scared and unwilling at first to want Jax on the Warriors out here, but he quickly changed my mind and any others who had concerns of any kind about him. He’s definitely a classy guy, as deserving as anyone of a roster spot on any team with open arms. Although he went Mr. T in this shoot by pulling out a bunch of chains to wear at the same time that he’ll probably regret buying one day, word to Elton Brand in a SLAM article not too long ago.

Famous Steve Jax quote: “I make love to pressure”. After he said that, ya kinda knew the W’s would beat the Mavs in the playoffs that year.

SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT HIM, BUT I CAN TELL YOU HE IS A CLASS ACT AND REAL. THE MAN SELLS $35.99 SIGNATURE SHOE AND BUILT A SCHOOL IN TEXAS. THATS THE REAL SJ.

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

He ain’t a class act.. he’s still a thug… he’s just a thug that has respect for his roots. I don’t really have an opinion of him.

Theres a grey area between class act and thug. Look into it.

  • donlaker

if u aint a blood dont claim it . living in a blood /dammu area i see the fake gangsters and the video game gangster on the daily , so excuse me if some million dollar player wants to be known as a gangster and has tats to say he is so hood. but really sits in his mansion with bodyguards/security and stays as far away from the hood as possible, until he is told that the nba cares……

Jukai: Judging by your coments I’d say you DO have a pretty strong opinion about him. Port Arthur is a rough place man, and Jax has done a lot of good in that community. I worked at a Subway in San Antonio when I was in HS and he was super polite when he came in, to me the server, and to some old folks in line who didn’t know who he was but asked if he played for the Spurs. Dude has had some rough moments but he’s a good person, and I don’t think that’s really even up for debate.

Stephen Jackson is a very underated player in the league. Yes he has had some bad decision making in the past but if he had to back his team up again I think he would do it all over again. I think people confuse certain players because they don’t understand them so they label them a thug or gangsta. Hard for another culture to try and understand another culture if they have never been around that type of mentality. Those who have understand captain jack, those that haven’t don’t understand him.

  • j-smoov 5

Captain Jack’s one lf my favorite players. Love watching him play.

  • Sari

yea che has a point wit the other culture talk… in my opinion wat he did in the palace is logical… i mean he was backin his teamate, hard to see wats wrong wit that

  • Big O

Steve Jack is a real cool down to earth dude. He doesnt even have to know you and he’ll have a full conversation with you… cant say that about alot of them NBA guys

  • http://fdklf.com Jukai

ciolkstar: That goes against a lot of what I’ve heard about him. I heard he’s pretty unresponsive and rude. He’s not a ‘class act.’ But you and Big-O say I’m wrong, so maybe I’ve heard false rumors.
However, I HAVE heard all he’s done for his community. He’s donated a boatload of money to it. He’s trying to improve it… instead of just rep it. Class act isn’t a good word to describe him. Respectable is.

  • Kobe Bryant

Steven Jackson is Captain Jack! He is the heart and soul of this team! He is playing like the best SF in the league lately! Gotta love Captain Jack!

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

his shoe is for the people, and unlike Marbury’s is highly accessible (you had to go hunting to find a Steve and Barry’s, KMART is everywhere). Plus they had commercials airing all ASG weekend. Stack Jack is beyond dope.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Word to BET. Protege also donated a million (yeah 1,000,000) pairs of shoes to needy kids in America and around the world. Thats whats up.

  • Manumaniac

Great player, great leader. He always shows up at the playoffs. Just remember the 2003 Spurs and the 2007 Warriors. He should definitely be an All-Star.

  • http://Slam Justin Moore

Probably my overall favorite player in the league.
