LeBron on the Possibility of Switching Jersey Numbers

Out with no.23, in with no. 6? It could happen: “So indeed, he is No. 23, but No. 6 is part of him too. Someday, there’s a chance it could be his number all the time. ‘It’s interesting to think about. I feel like 6 is my number, too,’ James said about the prospect of switching. ‘If the NBA retired 23 because of Michael (Jordan) like baseball did with Jackie Robinson (42), I would definitely switch it. Maybe I would someday, we’ll see.’”

    Every fan that has a 23 will buy a 6. Cha-ching, indeed.

yeah, jersey sales ploy, just like Mr Bryant did, its easily enough Chicago retired it.

  • Plasticman

Yeah I think 23 still just looks kinda wrong on anyone else than Money.
LeBron loves him some money though…

He should wear a question mark and change his last name to “2010.” ESPN would appreciate that.

  • BostonBaller

It would definately be a financial decision ANd a good one at that.

  • http://idunkonthem.blogspot.com/ albie1kenobi

it should just be a $ sign.

  • http://idunkonthem.blogspot.com/ albie1kenobi

either that or just a symbol like Prince. that would be fantastic.

  • ENDSwing

he should switch to Number One cause thats the only person here cares/ looks out for.

Jordan Jockers ya’ll do know Mike wasnt the first Chicago 23 right? 50 points question who wore it first

  • b0dj

Before Jordan chicago players who wore 23 were:
    Jackie Dinkins 1972-1972
    Norm Van Lier 1972-1972
    Rowland Garrett 1973-1976
    Eric Fernsten 1976-1976
    Ollie Mack 1980-1981
    Mike Bratz 1983-1983

so you all do the math who wore it first(clue its on the top of the list dummy)

If the NBA retires 23 league-wide, they’ll also need to retire 6 for Bill Russell. In other words it ain’t happening, and even if it does, LeBron will need to come up with an entirely different number.

  • Prison Mike

He’s gonna have to change to #6 if he comes to New York, because Quentin Richardson isn’t giving #23 up to anybody.

    Slow news day?

  • Feng

    #32 for Magic

  • donlaker

watch out bill russel , quentin no worries your knick legacy is safe , 23 is a good number but im like kobe,, make it 24 because im one better…….

  • donlaker

or bron , just do like prince , become a # we cant pronounce , the chosen…..goo goo plex

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

He should change it to 25, to one up some guy in LA

  • http://www.ojhoops.blogspot.com the baconator

Hell, I just want someone to pick “99″ so no one else can claim to be “one better.”

  • matt

why not change it to the 45…

  • JoeMaMa

In other news, LeBron proclaimed that he may just change from one to two ply, margarine to butter, and WHO CARES IT’S A NUMBER ON A WINE AND CHEESE JERSEY

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

maybe he could CREATE a whole new number…say something between where ELEVEN and TWELVE turn into the ‘TEENS’… OR I know between!! Between 9 and 10 and maybe even call it number Bron and make it a single digit number…an upside down inside out looking “U” with little “o” on top…

    thats it upside down….

  • Ken

Mikan already was 99, and when he played there was nobody who was “1 better.”

But yeah, my vote is for LeBron to wear Pi.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Naahh, he should change it to 25, since his antics are starting to annoy me and he obviously desperately wants to outshine Kobs. The dunk contest declaration, DURING an ongoing contest was just ignorant.

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

awww look at all the cute 24 fans worrying about him fading into obscurity. adorable.

  • crab dribble

muahaha it should be 51– the sum of the corresponding numbers for “MVP” 13 22 16..yesss…I DON’T CARE..
