Tyson Chandler on the Block?

With the trade deadline approaching, Tyson’s name is increasingly findting itself in the rumor pages: “Chandler has been rumored in possible trades since December, when Sports Illustrated mentioned Chandler in a possible exchange for the Detroit Pistons’ Rasheed Wallace. The latest rumor has Chandler going to the Miami Heat in exchange for power forward Shawn Marion, whose $17.1 million contract expires at the end of this season. ‘He (Chandler) is in my plans as far as I’m concerned,’ Hornets Coach Byron Scott said. ‘I think, obviously, he hasn’t had the season that we expected, but I think a lot of that is due to some of the injuries he’s had. I think Tyson is one of our core guys. But I’ll say it again, almost anybody in this league, if the right deal comes, I think both teams would probably pull the trigger. But right now, as far as I’m concerned, he’s here.’”

Wow, really? Would Miami even hesitate to pull the trigger on this? If I was Dumars, i’d consider this as well. I’m surprised the Hornets would be giving up on him.

“Tyson Chandler on the Block?” Now if that question actually tied into Tyson’s actual game…he may have been a really good center in his career.

    haha @ eboy

if tyson is available, that greatly reduces the possibility of the JO/marion trade…..

Holy crap, pull that deal now Miami!!! Beasley takes Marion’s starting spot, Miami actually has a center, Marion has a point guard again!

I mean, if the Hornets even have a DECENT backup option (do they?) then this is a great trade

Break up the CP and TC Tandem, hmmmm… Seems like a pretty dumb idea to me.

Chandler last year: 11.8 ppg and 11.7 rpg; this year: 8.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg. I know he’s been hurt, but still, he no longer crashes the boards (ditto for West), and if they deal him for Marion they become smaller (and quicker) and perhaps are more catered to Paul’s strengths.

The CP3-Chandler tandem is nothing more than the JKidd-Kenyon Martin tandem in NJ back in 2002. Average big man with an outstanding point guard. Nowadays any athletic big man would flourish next to CP3. Despite his suffer in MIA, I still think Marion is a more versatile and (overall) better player than Chandler.

Any chance the Pacers could get Chandler???

  • thesubwayconnection

Marion won’t do much in that system.

  • Exile

Giving up on him pretty quickly… I still think NO needs some size. Marion is good, but is better at the 3 than 4…. and won’t bring playoff grit.

  • Exile

    Not that Chandler does…. but….

    Save CP3

The Spurs should go for him if they can give away someone other than a member of the Big Three, or the small three (Mason,Hill,Bonner)Preferably some expiring contracts, it makes sense both ways, Spurs get the other post player which they may need to beat the lakers and New Orleans saves money, which is what they want

  • T Money

Lord, I don’t ask for much. But please make a way for Sheed to play with Chris Paul…

  • T Money

    Chandler and Posey for Amar’AY?

  • T Money

Wait. That makes too much sense.

  • Justinnnn

MIA might just want to let the Matrix walk after this season and save those $17 mill to make sure Flash doesn’t bolt to a higher bidder in 2010.

If LeBron doesn’t go to the Knicks in 2010, Dwayne Wade will.
    Thanks!

Um, Chalmers has greatly increased his game since the begining of the year. The kid is going for 15 and 8 this month, and his game will be much improved next year. Tyson is great for Miami. He may not have Chris Paul dishing, but he has one of the top 3 players in the leauge in Wade drawing attention from him. And we all know Wade is quite an above average passer. It’s great for miami and so so for New Orleans. Being a miami fan i hope it happens.

And T Money, don’t you know? Amare is his own team. He wants to just go on the court on his own and play 1 v 5. Very talented but he was the one that cause the chaos in PHX to begin with. He pushed to trade marion which imploded that team. Shaq is old. He’s playing good now but sooner or later he’ll notice he isn’t maintaining that high body fat and he’ll get an “injury” like he did in Miami.

P.S.- That Shaq part was totally pointless but had to put that out there. lol
