Curry Addresses the Iverson Situation

Some much-needed perspective: “Interviewed Wednesday on ESPN2′s ‘First Take,’ coach Michael Curry was asked about the Pistons’ 3-0 streak without Allen Iverson (who’s now out two more weeks with a bad back). ‘I know it’s easy for people to point to that,’ Curry said. ‘Like I said earlier, we went on our longest winning streak of the year when Rip Hamilton was hurt. I do know that with Rip in the starting lineup, we’ve had more guys playing better. I talked to Allen and Rip, and it’s not about those two guys starting…The reality is we’ve got to find a way each night to get five or six guys playing well.’”

People seem to forget about that 7 game streak with Rip out earlier this year. Oh, and co-sign Ben.

I just think were all tired of it and can read between the lines.

Determining the quality of a story by the number of posts is like determining someone’s intelligence by the number of books that person has read. Common practice.

    I’ve read lots of books

Hey, how bout those Celts TAD? This tough stretch of games has really turnred into a blessing. I’m still not sure if they’ll do damage in the playoffs, but I guarantee that Orlando/Boston/Cleveland/Miami still does not want to see them in the first round.

Oops, I meant “How bout the Pistons, TAD?” Weird.

Ciol: Um, i’m not convinced of anything yet. It has only been 3 games. While the teams were good we beat, they were all missing players: Jameer (Magic), KG (C’s), and Melo (Nugs). Ask me how I feel at the end of the month.

When you are defending yourself on ESPN2′s First Take, you should probably start updating your resume.

Why do I get the sense that folks are doubting whether Iverson is really hurt?
On NBATV the little dude who was with Steve Smith said Iverson had “Quote/unquote sore back.”
What the eff is that? Why not just a sore back?
Does Iverson have a history of faking injuries?
Why were none of these questions asked when Steve Nash was hurt? After all, wasn’t he pissed with his coach?
This is starting to piss me off.

@AllenP they are trying to create a story out of nothing. It is getting ridicoulous that thinkhe is faking an injury just because he is coming off the bench. II can’t picture AI just sitting idle for the rest of the seaon. I believe he will be back in 2 weeks.

Ya’ll didn’t realize Iverson was a drama major at Georgetown, did you?

  • http://www.myspace.com/krisholliemakingmoney Dang I’m Nice!!!

Thank you for pointing that out as well Michael Curry, and the people questioning Iverson’s injury as just as ridiculously stupid as the people who hate on Kobe and/or Lebron just becuz.

I know you’re more laid back about it then me, but this is troublesome. There is something wrong with media folks questioning whether people are injured.
How did they earn this right? Who was on that committee? I never got my ballot.

Allen, you must not have been on here Tuesday when I blasted the first article that was questioning whether or not AI was “faking” the injury becuase he was supposedly upset about going to the bench. Trust me, it upset me. It still does, but it won’t consume me. It just shows me who the ignorant people are. That is a good bit of info to have.

Well, here is something to talk about….or not:
Pistons guard Allen Iverson might not miss the whole two weeks doctors have suggested he use to recover from a sore back.

Iverson returned to the team and was at practice today after visiting doctors at Georgetown University in Washington. Coach Michael Curry said Iverson — who averages 18 points but has missed the past three games with the back injury — was targeting an early return.

“He doesn’t think that he’s going to have to be out the entire two weeks,” Curry said. “He wants to get out there as soon as possible. So, hopefully with the treatment and the rest, he’ll feel better and we can get him out there as soon as possible. We need him out there. We need him healthy, out there healthy playing so we can be the team we envision ourselves being.”

Iverson will come off the bench when he returns. Iverson did not speak with reporters but issued a statement through the team that said he had no problem with returning as a reserve.

“My goal is to help this team win a championship, and I’ve said that from the first day I arrived here in Detroit,” Iverson said in the statement. “I’m going to do whatever it takes to help us achieve our goals as a team, regardless if I’m starting or coming off the bench.”

i’m a huge iverson fan so i’ll never say its his fault. i don’t see why the pistons traded billups in the first place.

^^Sadly, TAD, that last line in the quote by AI will not get any run. That’s just how it goes, sorry.

  • I am the walrus

I was hoping it was Eddy Curry’s opinion on the Iverson situation. That would be midly ammusing…
