Kevin Durant and the Audacity of Hope

KD says he’s happy in OKC and excited about the future: “There were a lot of unknowns for Kevin Durant concerning what basketball and life would be like in Oklahoma. But in a short time, the budding superstar has come to a conclusion. ‘I love it,’ said Durant in a telephone interview. ‘The weather is unpredictable. You don’t know when it’s going to snow or rain. But the people here are nice. Nice people. I didn’t know anything about it other than playing here in college [at the University of Texas]. Flat land. ‘But after coming here and seeing the city, I love Oklahoma. The fans have been with me every night. What more can you ask for?’”

He’s not even kidding about the unpredictable weather. Last week we hit 87 degrees, and four days after we got 2 feet of snow in the panhandle. Absolutely ridiculous.

    *four days later

How can u NOT like the guy, poor blazers.

I’ll reserve my judgement on KD until a ‘baby mama drama’ report comes out.

  • L33tSauce Posted: Mar.30 at 2:40 pm
KD is 20, like Bosh, he’ll have to wait till he’s been in the leauge awhile, Starks Knight. lol. But I like the kid’s attitude. Sure, he wants his money. But wouldn’t you if you had his abilities? OKC will be a contender in 2-3 years. KD, Green, Weaver(who has really been a defnsive stopper), and Westbrook? Throw in a few key bench players and even a respectible center, and you have a top 6 team in the west.

L33t has a point, they’re beginning to look a little like Portland a few years ago.

    ^but better

poor blazers indeed. KD is the truth. If they land Blake Griffin, watch out for that squad. Westbrook, Green, Durant, Griffin would be beastly. Then put some muscle on kristic and say playoffs.

They do show quite a bit of promise. I think I react to any positive statement by a player in a cynical way, this is what happens when you’re a Raptors fan. Who thinks in order for OKC to improve KD will have to hoist up less shots?

  • Holy Baller Posted: Mar.30 at 6:03 pm
Starks Knight: Not me. He’s much more effient than he was last year, and his shots are falling at a very good percentage. He’s taking just the right amount of shots.

I like the Thunder. If they land Griffin, that’ll be one beast lineup. PG Westbrook
    SG Green
    SF Durant
    PF Griffin
C Krstic Thabo is pretty good off the bench. If they could get some decent backups, they’d be pretty good down the road.

    Durant 43
    Oden -10

  • [...] I like how KD has been say glowing things about Oklahoma City all year but when some major newspaper in the northeast quotes him on it, everyone perks up. And why does everyone seem so shocked by him saying he loves this city? [...]

  • kwame Posted: Mar.31 at 2:45 pm
in 5 years okc will be in contention for the playoffs. they almost have all the pieces…a better center and pf are in order…

  • Ryne Nelson Posted: Mar.31 at 2:59 pm
If the Thunder don’t get to the Playoffs in five years, I guarantee Durant will not stick around that long.

  • NBA-JERSEY-KING Posted: Mar.31 at 6:24 pm
