Once Again, Nellie Lets Crawford Know He’s Not Wanted

I’m surprised he hasn’t burned Jamal’s jersey by now: “Warriors coach Don Nelson doesn’t hold back about why a backcourt of Monta Ellis and Jamal Crawford won’t work. ‘I don’t think that the mix is good enough, it’s just like with oil and water,’ Nelson said before Tuesday’s game. ‘They’re both really good players, but we need somebody that can guard a 2. Especially when you get into the good teams, the 2′s are 6-foot-7, and Monta’s not a very big guy.’ Nelson sat Crawford against the Clippers to get Marco Belinelli some playing time – a process the coach said will be repeated against the Lakers in Los Angeles on Thursday.”

  • rav

don’s gonna get a grievance filed against him the way he’s going

Is Nellie really trying to make a case, by talking about defense????!!!!!!!!!! He just allowed 154 points last week!!!!!!!!1

  • nate james

hahaha. i also do feel bad for jamal. when ellis was out, and the team was nothing he gave you something to talk about.
he’s a great player. and i think that would be a good mix. monte and jamal, stephon.
    thats like baron and jrich.
oh well. jamal will ball were ever he goes.
Nellie wont last long in the bay for long.

Weak. I didn’t see much Jamal when he was a Knickerbocker, but I’ve really liked him out here. Yeah, he’s redundant, but the Dubs traded for him no less than a half year ago—we officially have no plan. I can’t wait to make a run at John Salmons and Barbosa.

I hope he opts out at the end of the year and takes a cut to go back to ny, he is made for antoni

So Nellie is suggesting Belinelli is better at defense than Jamal?

tad, marco is a scrappy defender and does a good job denying the ball. his on the ball d needs work, but hes been improving. jamal is an okay defender too, but it seems marco makes more of an impact on d

Jamal Crawford is nowhere near an even adequate defender. Not even close.

  • TheMC5

Let me know next time he fights over a screen. It’ll be the first.

why is he acting like jamal is 5-4? dude is 6-5. stop making excuses, you don’t wanna play him then you don’t wanna play him. and stop pretending like you remotely care about the d.

Walt Frazier’s remarked many times that Crawford has the skills to be a good defender, he just lacks the motivation to do so. I dunno about other Knicks fans, but I know for certain I’d love to see him back in a Knicks uni next season

I’m with everybody who brought up the riduculousness of Don Nelson complaining about defense.
This guy used to have a man crush on Steve Nash and Dirk.
Defense is not a priority for him.

I have this website, and NOYZ in the mag…and I suppose I could go on warriors blogs as well. Wherever I might go, my message is/would be the same: Nellie please go away!!!

Jamal is the best player on Golden State, Jax is the key, but Crawlford is the most talented. I hope Nelly tells him to fu(k off, then J-Creezy comes to the Bobcats then drops 100 on the Warriors and their no-defense playin hinnes!

  • chintao

As a Knick fan, I wish Crawford well, but I hope he stays out of the orange and blue. Wait, I can’t say that anymore, because of the Thunder…. Anyway, y’all know what I mean.

I dont understand how Nellie is still a coach in this league when so many players cant stand him, so many team officials cant stand him (Mullin and Cuban for example)…. I feel sorry for the whole GState team

  • Wes M A

Crawford is screwed. Hopefully this doesnt turn into a D’Antoni/Marbury fiasco. Atleast he can peace it to another team soon…what a rip off.
