And here are the opening round matchups:

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Cleveland vs. Detroit
Boston vs. Chicago
Orlando vs. Philadelphia
Atlanta vs. Miami

WESTERN CONFERENCE

L.A. Lakers vs. Utah
Denver vs. New Orleans
San Antonio vs. Dallas
Portland vs. Houston

Thoughts, gripes, and predictions are welcome as always …

Celtics all the way…..sorry clevland it aint gunna happen

  • Clockwork

Portland – Houston is gonna be cool…

And so is Atlanta – Miami

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

Wow… is that really how things ended up? This is like, the best matchups one could possible hope for!
    Predictions:
    Cleveland over Detroit, five games
    Boston over Chicago, seven games
    Orlando over Phili, six games
    Atlanta over Miami, six games

    LA over Utah, four games
Denver over New Orleans, seven games
Dallas over San Antonio, six games
    Portland over Houston, six games

  • Ken

I’m hoping Houston wins in the first round, just to spite T-Mac.

  • http://sfdjilf.com Jukai

Wow, these are like, all great freaking matchups!

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Jukai- You going to copy and paste that now?
I got I wanted (kinda)- only problem is playing the Lakers in the 2nd round. Either them or the Jazz…

  • http://www.twitter.com/mansonovic Andy

Sorry, Jukai, I know the Lakers seem to hold some kind of voodoo over the Jazz, but four games? LA over Utah in six, I say.

Cleveland over Detroit – four games
Chicago over Boston – seven games (oh yeah, I went there)
Orlando over Philly – five games
Atlanta over Miami – seven games
New Orleans over Denver – seven games
San Antonio over Dallas – seven games
Portland over Houston – seven games

KG’s going to miss at least the first round. Celtics are toast.

  • ab_40

why do y’all say chi is gonna take boston to 7? they have no inside scoring options none. a shoot happy small forward a far too short 2 guard and a rookie point guard. the two starting bigs don’t even know what a jump shot is nor a crossover that series will be over in 5 or less

    Cleveland Detroit 4-2
Atlanta-Miami 4-1 JO is gonna be on the best poster of the season trust me on this one
    Boston- Chicago 4-1
Orlando – Philly 4-2… Phi has no closers what so ever

    La – utah 4-1
Portland- Houston 3-4 with artest hitting the game winner to ensure a big pay day this summer
Denver-New Orleans 4-2 carmelo anthony finally get’s it and hits at least two game winning shots with 26 8 and 4 averages for the series
San Antonio – Dallas 4-2 tony parker versus jason kidd and jj barea? seriously? he’s gonna average at least 30 ppg Dirk will be a problem for the spurs but TD is a bigger one for the mavs. JT can’t guard mason and mason can’t guard JT

    Hursty: Please do!

  • http://www.nba.com JE

    Adam Baker, is that you?

  • AlbertBarr

Garnett is out likely for the entitre playoffs…I think Chi can take it in 7 if Garnett is out. Dirk and J terry are gonna upset the spurs and if Denver plays like they did last night, CP3 and the Hornets will upset that series as well. D-Wade is gonna take down some hawks, the Magic are Gimpy so I just dont know about them, Cleveland is finals bound and the only way they aren’t 100% going to see the lakers there is if somehow LA and Portland hav to meet…that would be an interesting series…LA would most likely win but they would definitly have a battle.

  • AlbertBarr

But I think Chairman Yao really wants to make the second round…he is why they will…or wont

Wow, There are some really great matchups here, the only teams that will cruise are IMO the Cavs and Lakers, veryone else will have to play well and fight to win.

  • http://www.jcherot.blogspot.com Tripset30

@ all the posters saying the Mavericks will lose because Jason Kidd can’t guard Tony Parker…

    Who stops Dirk?
    Who stops Jet?
Who can stay in front of JJ Barea?
How can the Spurs honestly replace Manu?

The Mavs are more athletic and have more players who can create opportunities. What saves the Spurs it that the Mavs are a bad road team for whatever reason, but I still say Dallas is six.

Check out my blog for my predictions.

“JT can’t guard mason and mason can’t guard JT”

    Lol, Roger Mason.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TheDiesel Anton

    Lakers over Jazz in 5
    Nuggets over Hornets in 6
    Dallas over Spurs in 7
Blazers over Rockets in 7 Cavs over Detroit in 4
    Boston over Chicago in 5
    Orlando over Phili in 6
    Miami over Atlanta in 7
Most exciting series: Heat/Hawks – Wade kicking ass and Beasley beasting
    Blazers/Rockets – youth vs. experience
    Nuggets/Hornets – CP3 vs. Chauncey Billups

  • Tavoris

it’s crazy that seeds 2-8 in the West are all pretty interchangeable….and seeds 4-8 in the east are too.

There’s no way the Bulls are beating the Celtics-even without KG. I see that series goign five games at the most. The Bulls still have a problem with two players called RA and PP to try to contain. And Rondo’s quickness is probably the worst nightmare that Rose will ever see in April.

  • Josh D

    Lakers over Jazz in six
    Nuggets over Hornets in five
    Spurs over Mavs in six
    Blazers over Rockets in Six
    Cavs over Pistons in seven
    Boston over Bulls in six
    Miami over Atlanta in six
    Orlando over sixers in six
By the way guys Spurs may not have Manu but that doesn’t mean that they’ll get beaten by the Mavs, The regular season series was tied at 2 this time around and one of those Spurs wins was without TD and Ginobili

  • Josh D

Who Stops Dirk? Bruce Bowen does

  • truthteller

NBA Finals: Lakers and Cavs. People, let’s stop acting like this isn’t going to happen.

  • Superman Osman

ab_40, two words Garnett Out! And ya I see Big Baby ownin Brad Miller or Juakim on the post. PLEASE! I’m optimistic for a first time in nearly a decade. Still in reality though, Boston have an edge, but now you can’t put that Bulls suprise factor out. Just like an injured reigning world champion Miami Heat…the irony is nearly hilarious.

    Blazers are gonna dominate Rockets
    end of story

  • clapzilla

The Nuggets Have No Excuse Not To Get The The West Finals. They’ll Put Up A Good Fight Against Hollywood, But The Closer They Get To Beating Them The Closer We Get To A Bennett Salvatore Controversy. Cleveland Should Bounce Hollywood In 5 Games.

  • clapzilla

Actually, Houston And Denver Have A Decent Chance At Getting Out of The West No Matter How Much People Are Hype Up Hollywood. It Won’t Matter Much Because Cleveland Is Gonna Take The Finals In 5 No Matter Who They Face.

  • Klemperer

Lebron will get the MVP, but Kobe’s crushing him in the finals.

  • http://www.basketballjerseyworld.com nba-jersey-king

For me, as a Miami Heat fan, the 82 games were great compared to last year

  • yesman

LeBron and the Cavs will get manhandled in the finals by Kobe and the Lakers. No Vaseline!!!
