Dirk Nowitzki Content to Share Scoring Load

As long as it means more postseason wins for the Mavs: “Dirk Nowitzki has been receiving questions about how frustrated he must be averaging just over 16 points in the first round against San Antonio. He has a stock answer. ‘We’re up 3-1,’ he said. ‘That’s what I play for. I don’t play for points. I play to advance in the playoffs.’ The Mavericks have the Spurs on the brink of elimination because Nowitzki has put his faith in his teammates.”

yeah whatevs, this is a guy who once said that the mavs can’t expect him to score 30 every game in the playoffs. isn’t he their superdupermaxedout star? of course, he’s stoked that other guys are shouldering the load. ninny.

Actually, there’s a HUGE difference in how he played in game 2 compared to game 4. Game 2 he was forcing shots, losing a lot of offensive rhythm, and looking generally out of place. Game 4 he looked like a super star who was struggling to get his shot off but picked up his team through his rebounding, passing, and good lord, even a bit of defense. Maybe it’s a winning combination for the Mavs.

Fudge Nowitzki! Now we need the Spurs to make a three game rally.

  • whooo!

this is exactly the same thing dirk said in ’07 against the warriors. difference is that the teammates now are stepping up and making the spurs pay, so dirk doesn’t need to score more. 2 years ago, when his teammates were struggling, that’s when dirk said he just wanted to fit in.

ant beating the nuggets in second rouund.

They’ll take the 2nd round match up in 5 games with Dirk averaging 32 ppg.

It’s not quite done, and who knows, miracles happen…but i am officially scared of these Nuggets. They have smelled blood in the water, and like some hammerheads, these dudes are plain ruthless. a 58 point win? In the playoffs? In the 21st century? Jesus! So the Mavs moved up the standings to avoid the Lakers AND Denver only to possibly meet up with team Nasty Frontcourt in the second round? Oh lord.

Wow, these mavs are really surprising the hell out of me.. in and out of the playoff race all season, and now they have the spurs on the brink. Say what you ant about denver, but even after the 58 point win last night, i’m still not 100% convinced. the mavs CAN take them. which i wouldn’t want by the way. let me see a LAL-DEN conference finals please.

Chauncey Billups’ ability to get your team far into the playoffs is both a gift and a curse. this year might become his 7th conference finals in a row, with only 2 finals to show for it. Or will it be 3?

Dirk Nowitzki is my favourite German.

    hey!!? The Hoff?

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

Content to share? not in game 5. Superstar mode was in effect. 31 on high percentage shooting, perfect from 3 and the FT-Line. Yeauuuuh! That’s how you eliminate a team Dirkster (ok, maybe Bron showed us how it’s done in a slightly more convincing manner, but hey…)

Dacre: far as i know, Micheal Knight is NOT german. They love him in Europe for his songs back then (looking for freedom) but the Hof is a US citizen, no?
