Luol Deng’s Injury Woes Continue

He could be dunzo for the year: “Deng then confirmed he had suffered more pain in the stress fracture in his right tibia after a recent workout. Deng said he would take the rest of the week off and given that he hasn’t played since Feb. 28 and isn’t in game shape, next week’s final two regular-season games are out. Deng’s only hope is to possibly return for the playoffs. ‘I haven’t even sprinted yet,’ Deng said. ‘But even if I’m capable of getting back to play five or 10 minutes, that could help. These guys have been playing a lot of minutes.’”

I wouldn’t be happy if I were John Paxson. Deng is still going to play for Britain this summer, and I think that Paxson would rather see him taking some time off and coming back healthy when training camp starts….

Who cares what John Paxson wants to see? We need Deng to play well in Eurobasket

Who cares? The entire Bulls organization for one, paying a dude 8 mil a year!

They really should add in these contracts, “if you have a nagging injury going into the FIBA Worlds/Olympics, and you aggrivate that injury playing, you will forfeit (so and so amount of money.”

The Bulls are clearly better with John Salmons at the 3. And I kind of agree Jukai, I wouldn’t be surprised if a similar clause is atleast discussed during the next collective bargaining agreement.

I really hope Luol can recover for this summer so i can see him play at the O2 arena for team GB. And for the Bulls, they would need him for the playoff run. fingers crossed he plays in august

You know what’s funny about Tarzan’s comment. I had totally forgotten about Deng until I saw this story. Damn.

If you ask me, he’s too much of a commitment money-wise. Trade his ass, open some cap space. Seriously 8 mil a year??? I would make Ben Gordan a priority over this guy honestly…

I dunno where I got the annual figure from!

He needs to get healthy. I agree that the summer should be spent getting 100% healthy for your EMPLOYER who is paying what looks like WAY TOO MUCH money right now. If he gets back to full health and gets in the weight room a lil bit this summer instead of playing in a pointless tournament in England, he can justify the franchise type contract he’s got – but right now, he needs to realize he is at the tipping point of completely falling off unless he can turn this around.

And to think he was the#2 ranked player behind Lebron in high school!

Trading Deng for the Bulls is not an option per int he NBA contracts have to match. So you would get another larry hughes or something to that effect. You could always trade him for draft picks, and then sign each of those draft picks to a lower amount, and then be able to allicate some money for Gordon. I would like Deng to be the Captain he is and realize he will be coming off the bench for a couple years and if he works himself into better shape he would be able to get a contract extention in the future. If he would re work contract this would allow Ben Gordon and money to Tyrus along with keeping Salmons for a couple more years. Salmons would be gone Deng would be about 28 and poised to take over the 3.

Deng is a completely better player that salmons. Deng not only is a better scorer, but a lock down defender
