Pre-Cuban, the Mavs Locker Room Sounded Like a Fun Place

Party time in Dallas: “Jonah: Charlie Villanueva made a great point; a Twitter update is about the same as a halftime interview. Mark: He is right. Before I took over for the Mavs back in the day they used to drink and smoke in the locker room, so I can think of worse things.”

But didn’t Cuban put full-sized IMAX screens in everyone’s locker? As for drinking and smoking in the locker room, yeah, sure, it was called “Nelly”.

The Mavs should have opened-up their lockers and adopted a few thousand Katrina evacuees. Like former First Lady Laura said, “And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this — this is working very well for them,”

chintao, great point. its always funny to me when it is “reported” on espen or wherever that some nba player donated money or helped some charity. most of the time its like 20-50,000 or some insignificant amount to them. they get MILLIONS, EVERY year. the ONLY nba player i respect charity wise is mutombo. the man spent over 10 mil of his own money to build a hospital. but anytime chris paul fixes a ghetto hoops court, it calls for a halftime piece. most of that crap is for tax writeoffs.

Yes, Mr. Cooper. I feel you. When people do stuff from the heart (ala Mutombo) it has a completely different quality. Still, a half-assed tax-writeoff (ala Bill Gates or Warren Buffett) can be better than nothing. At least guys are doing something, even if it only occurs to them when they are staring down the columns of their 1040′s. On the other hand, maybe these half[-hearted gestures are all that stand between us and genuine change. Perhaps if people let stuff get really bad, there would be some kind of revolution. If you view stuff in that light, these young Black millionaires suddenly seem reactionary and evil.
