Did Derrick Rose Cheat on His SAT?
That’s what D-Rose and the University of Memphis are being accused of: “The University of Memphis is responding to an NCAA notice of allegations charging the men’s basketball program with major violations during the 2007-08 season under John Calipari. The allegations include ‘knowing fraudulence or misconduct’ on an SAT exam by a player on the 2007-08 team. The NCAA alleged the prospective player became eligible after an ‘unknown individual’ completed his SAT. The player, said the NCAA, ‘subsequently competed for the men’s basketball team through the 2007-08 season, which included his participation in the 2008 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship.’ The player’s name was redacted in the report, obtained by The Commercial Appeal on Wednesday through the Freedom of Information Act, because of privacy laws. The player has subsequently denied the charge, according to university personnel. The only player on the roster who competed only during that season was Derrick Rose, who subsequently was the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft last June.”

Topps told the Sun Times that he’s known about the NCAA investigation for about three weeks and that the NCAA had threatened Rose’s former high school teammate Tim Flowers with a loss of eligibility if he didn’t agree to an interview. PS: Memphis has not been charged with are recruiting violations. That is an institutional charge and/or specific staff are sited. No staff is sited in the charges.
. People go to great measures to get this done. It happens ALL the time for these athletes and not just BB and FB players. Any program that is in the national spot light needs to have a clean program because rumors will always be sent to the NCAA. Derrick’s brother, is his number one problem. I would not put it past his brother to set something up and Derrick not know,Derrick was probably just doing what he was told. Derrick/his brother would know his score because you have to go online and look it up. I’m sure the score needed was well known to everyone in his group. Memphis would not have known there was a problem because they would have recieved the scores officially from SAT and would have not questioned them if nothing was flagged at the time. NCAA cleared Derrick as a qualifer then took it back when all this came to light after the season. It’s not Memphis or Coach Cal. It just sucks that Memphis will be punished for what they had no control in this aspect.
^_^
Hey, the guy cheated, he knew it, no excuses. When the playbook was drive the lane for 45 minutes every game, no shot, pass, you knew the playbook was short.
Rose denied it, your are kidding? How do we know he understands, “denied”. He might of thought it meant “I did need”.
Punishment, good old free enterprise system, no ad money for about two years, McDonalds will pull that mug off their cups in 48 hours.
Sure, feel sorry for him, but he cheated and it will stick.
