Ricky Rubio is Taking DKV Joventut to Court

Things are headed to the legal arena in the Rubio case: “The guard has been trying to get out of his contract with Spanish league team DKV Joventut but has met resistance. On Tuesday, according to the Spanish news agency EFE, Rubio sued the team after learning that it had transferred the rights to his buyout to Hacienda, the Spanish version of the Internal Revenue Service. The rights were sold to satisfy a debt Joventut had with Hacienda. Leopoldo Hinjos, Rubio’s lawyer, claims that the team did not inform his client that his rights were about to be ceded to a third party. The team says that representatives of Hacienda went to Joventut’s offices and demanded a guarantee to cover the outstanding debt.”

Ugly ending, and I doubt anything will be resolved soon. Bottom line, Ricky will be in America in a couple days to meet with teams. Bye bye DKV.

This is brutal. I hope the kid can play NBA ball soon. Hacienda is a rather cool name for their IRS though.

Ricky got jerked on his contract. They can transfer those rights? Unconscionable. Also, it is interesting to note that people think that 13 year-olds have the requisite mindset to understand and negotiate a long-term contract. ‘Dem boys in Spain is crazy.

hey, beeing from spain i know a lot about rickys game. i can assure you he is not that good. its not me hatin on the guy its just hes got too much hype. ricky is a solid acb player, and he could provably play in the NBA, but come on, Pistol Pete?? are you kiddin me?? ricky cant score, commits lots of turnovers and will never develop a solid jumper. hes been in the pros for 4 years and he hasnt developed a good jumper, what makes you think hell ever? There are a lot of spanish layers that can play just as well as ricky they just dont have the hype.
Top five pick in the draft? USA is gonna get a big disappointment coming their way
