Meet the Newest Cavalier: Anthony Parker

Although, to be quite honest, they could’ve used his sister Candace more: “A league source said the Cavs have come to terms on a deal for free agent guard Anthony Parker. He could complete the that deal within the next few days. [...] He fills a major need the Cavs have for a tall wing player and was one of the team’s top off-season targets at the position. They have been in talks with him since the first day of free agency. They talked to the Raptors about a sign-and-trade but when Toronto decided to sign Hedo Turkoglu, the Cavs moved on to deal with Parker directly.”

This still doesn’t make up for the Sideshow Andy signing. 50 mil?

  • Gdub Posted: Jul.9 at 2:08 pm
What an idiot, He should’ve went back to Israel.

  • Allenp Posted: Jul.9 at 2:12 pm
Good shooter, subpar, but willing defender. He’ll help a lot if he can hit the open shots Shaq and Lebron will generate on a consistent basis. If he turns punk like he did at times in Toronto, well that’s a problem.

  • niQ Posted: Jul.9 at 2:17 pm
This is good for the cavs. and Gdub, why is he an idiot? He’s instantly part of a playoff contender, he might not be a starter but he will definitely get playing time.

huge up grade over wally zxxassxyxlkd

  • Eboy Posted: Jul.9 at 2:20 pm
He’s got to be a step up from Wally Se%*&$@K doesn’t he?

  • Eboy Posted: Jul.9 at 2:20 pm
    Hey….that’s my line.

  • [...] Cavs Add Parker [...]

  • Brad Long Posted: Jul.9 at 4:23 pm
I bet his nephew (niece?) is gonna be a baller.

  • a_whiteman Posted: Jul.9 at 4:23 pm
I wish the raps could have kept him. He is going to fit in just fine with lbj and shaq. His d is better then ppl give him credit for.

  • vmcb Posted: Jul.9 at 4:59 pm
I’ll be rooting for Parker, he was always a favourite of mine in Toronto.

  • Ben Osborne Posted: Jul.9 at 5:06 pm
    Nice signing.

  • Exile Posted: Jul.9 at 5:27 pm
A classy solid player that will be good for whatever team he plays for.

  • Z Posted: Jul.9 at 6:40 pm
That’s actually a very solid signing. As a starter or a 6th. He will provide everything that Wally couldn’t bring.

  • Dacre Posted: Jul.9 at 7:04 pm
I think they might have just filled Pavlova-vic’s role….
Surely Mo Williams, Boob Gib and the skull-faced Delonte will all play strongly throughout the reg season. Z, he wont be a starter or 6th man… and Wally was forced to play an undersized forward position anyway.

  • D12FSU Posted: Jul.9 at 7:53 pm
his sister is better than him…..

  • Quail Posted: Jul.9 at 8:15 pm
Now i bet the Cavs 2nd string team could beat the hell out of some team’s starting lineups.

  • melvin ely Posted: Jul.9 at 8:18 pm
that barely audible whimpering in the background is delonte’s playing time eeking out it’s last breath

  • Z Posted: Jul.9 at 9:11 pm
6 M for 2 years. that’s a STEAL. melvin, i think that d west is a perfect 6th man since he can play both guard spots.

  • JDeneer Posted: Jul.9 at 9:15 pm
Parker is a player man. Guy can hit the 3, nice midrange and will attack the rim anytime. But its his D that I’m going to miss in T.O. Happy for him.

  • Realosophy Posted: Jul.9 at 9:24 pm
slam are biters i made up that line about they should have signed his sister

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jul.9 at 9:44 pm
We’ll miss you in Toronto, Anthony Parker. Thanks for playing hard always.
Cavs got a great pick-up here.

  • omg Posted: Jul.9 at 11:10 pm
    candace parker is a beast!!!

  • Duiduidui Posted: Jul.10 at 2:15 am
A.P is a very very classy “PROFESSIONAL”.

  • Evan Dunphy Posted: Jul.10 at 2:41 am
Parker is great as a one or a two and it’ll be great to have West come off the bench and hit shots when Mo is having a slow night.

  • seven deuce Posted: Jul.10 at 2:42 am
Man teams are making some very questionable moves this summer already. I’ll bet Dionte Christmas would’ve been a cheaper alternative with nearly as much productivity provided they were to look for him on offense.

  • Blinguo Posted: Jul.10 at 2:48 am
Solid swingman, although on the side of 30 you don’t want, he could probably still be fine without the athleticism he used to have when LeBron there has enough for 2 positions. They were missing a regular sized 3, or bigger 2. Nice move.

  • Hursty Posted: Jul.10 at 6:36 am
They should’ve signed Clarence Downtown-Funky Malone. Duh.

  • wilz Posted: Jul.10 at 7:00 am
he’ll hit HUGE shots all season. cant at for parker’s moment in the limelight

  • Spaceship Jay Posted: Jul.10 at 9:54 am
A step in the right direction.

  • Jeff Fox Posted: Jul.10 at 10:11 am
He’s a real solid player. Tough defender. Good shooter. Good ball-handler.

  • AZ Posted: Jul.10 at 12:41 pm
Great signing, AP is definitely a Shane Battier-type player.

  • [...] Anthony Parker was signed and will provide the bench with another scoring option — something they sorely needed during the playoffs last season. The veteran shooting guard should see an improvement in his shooting percentages this year since he won’t see as much playing time and won’t be relied on as heavily as he was in Toronto. At the end of the day, this is a veteran who can shoot from the outside and plays adequate enough defense to not be a liability at the other end of the floor. [...]
