Ron Artest is for the Kids

For instance, this lucky kid in China: “Xinhua reports: Los Angeles Lakers star Ron Artest has donated his diamond watch to a high school student in Wuhan Wednesday to support his education. Zheng Fengyu, 15, is the captain of Wuhan NO.1 middle school’s basketball team. Ron played basketball with Zheng Wednesday afternoon, and gave the boy later his watch, which is worth 45,000 U.S. dollars (about 300,000 yuan), according to a report by local media.”

Teddy: Have to rush, so I’ll bullet this list:
1- China has a severe, severe worse history than the US, but the US is far newer. Not sure if I can count all the pre-Mongol dynasty eras as evidence, but people were doing it in the Israeli comment section…
2- You didn’t prove anything about the USA. You actually mentioned things that we have abolished 200 years ago, brushed off my counter-points by saying “OH I KNOW CHINA IS BAD” and you also mentioned factually incorrect information about how our government interacted with our failed car companies. The US doesn’t even pale in comparison to the government issues China has. Not even close. What countries are we oppressing? China’s got a few. If you say Iraq and Afganistan, man, you got problems…
3- I’m a registered democrat who voted for Hilary Clinton in the primaries and Obama during the general election. I’m just not a blind democrat who ignores all evidence that China is one of the worst countries in the world for free speech and open political forum. The reason I hold it so high is because it’s not a second or third world country, but a near super-power: it SHOULD be held to higher standards, just like the US is.
4- Evo Morales was an evil dictator. We just put him in power. It sucks, but dem the ropes.
5- Read Media Control in China by He Qinglian. Or go to the CHRWCG or CHRD’s website.
    Have fun kid.

and I feel like this “if you haven’t been there, don’t criticize” thing is a shield argument; not everyone has the money to fly to every place in the world. However, I do have resources to realize the wrong-doings of other countries. More than let’s say, the people in China, who constantly have the web blocked so that they can’t get AP information.

@ Jukai ==> Web blocking here (in China) is woeful. I can get anything on the ‘net that you can. Also, it is impossible to quantify the suffering caused by any one regime or nation. Both China and the United States have much for which to answer. The difference is that the U.S. has had a much better P.R. campaign. That P.R. (or B.S., depending on how one views it) is what allows the U.S. to meddle in other nations’ business in grossly hypocritical fashion. If an honest history were ever written, all the moral high ground would be left submerged under the turgid waters of deceit, greed, and corruption. Accordingly, it is absurd to argue about which nation is more abusive or which country has a worse history of abuse.
