Houston we have a problem.
globalization is a bitch
Yeah I’ll have 2 Von Wafers and a chocolate shake
NOOOOOO. NOOOOO. NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
He’d be PERFECT in Houston’s run-and-gun offense next season! WHY VON?!?!?!?!?!
he’s got $$ in his eyes
Yao’s out, T-Mac is back… for a while maybe… probably not… Von looked at the bleeding, wounded, carcass of a Houston, and decided to make the smart move for the money…
Joining Linas Kleiza, who also signed with them.
Prob a bigger loss for Houston than many will realise…who the hell will be shooting the ball next season?
Looks like its all upto you Aaron Brooks
Houston is poised for a Steve Francis revival!
damn, looks like the league is losing some depth
Wafer had it going in Houston! Noo!!
von wafer wulda got sum notice in houston this yr too.
Josh’s Childress’ move sure started a trend. Bad for the NBA, good for basketball.
If Iverson signs, that’s a good-ass basketball team.
That’s IT. Iverson to Houston. Make it happen, Mr. Morey.
( I know that’s not what Jukai meant ).
But what happens when T-Mac gets back? Nevermind.
Rockets are defecting like Cuban baseball players.
This sucks. Wish he would’ve stayed in Houston i liked seeing him come in and jack it up
SUCKS!!! loveed watchin him in houston and played great with kyle lowry
Von was hella god too. He’ll be back tho, hes probably afraid of houston’s curse of all the good players getting injured.
Trevor Ariza is going to average like 70 points a game next year…
In readiness to this season, Aaron Brooks has gained 40lbs of pure non-juice muscle
oh,no houston has a problem
What da heck is wrong wit da NBA

Houston really is going to have to rely heavily on the offense of Trevor Ariza… Can he create shots for himself? That’s the question Houston fans need to be asking.
Anton at 2:53 pm wins. Hilarious. But this sucks for Houston:(
Why did he go? Money? Given Houston’s eviscerated roster, he would’ve probably averaged 15-20 points easily and been one of their top options. Why walk away from such a good situation?
I can’t honestly believe Von Wafer will ever average 20ppg in the NBA.
For everyone asking why and how houston could let him go: Von’s not as good as he seems. Break down his play and you’ll notice he’s great in spurts, when he’s inserted into the game at certain moments. He’s also only effective then when the d is scrambling and all he has to do is make one quick cross or cut to the rim. He struggles a lot when the D is set on him, which is a big reason why he either scored or turned it over/bad shot.
also, Morey set a certain value to Wafer and wouldn’t budge from it…apparently no other team though he was worth more and agreed with Morey, at least within the NBA. And i haven’t even mentioned his lack of D. He doesn’t play it. Not only does he not play it, but he makes things worse by going away from his man, leaving him open. Budinger can replace with offense more efficiently, and although chase’s D sucks too, at least he tries. Then there’s always jermaine Taylor. He’s more versatile than Von, and although he may struggle with his transition to the NBa this season, in a year or two it’s likely he’ll be better than Von would be….finally, Von kept getting too emotional, too many tantrums…
And don’t sleep on houston’s offense…it may not be prolific, but the up tempo change alone will help and it should be decent…Brooks and Scola are still legit scorers and both are capable of 18 or so a game. Ariza could go for 15 per. With open looks Budinger could surprise and get 10-12 a game. If shane is more pro active on O he can get 12 a game too………obviously there’s no big scorers, but the offense could be a well-balanced one. Tmac will provide a big boost though…..if the D stays strong, then they don’t have to score very much anyway..
@ RV: I think you’re underestimating my man Von Wafer. Remember his couple of starts when T-Mac was out? He played CONSISTENTLY well. He’s still a young player and he needs more experience to fully work out the kinks in his game, but he’s actually really good. Seriously, he can slash to the hoop, he’s athletic, and he can be an assassin from behind the arc. Not to mention the uptempo style of play the Rockets are going to have would be PERFECT for him. The Rockets shouldn’t have let him go and he shouldn’t have left.
And with Von gone and T-Mac still out for at least 1 or 2 months (maybe more), the Rockets are going to be relying on Trevor Ariza a lot more than they’d hoped for on offense. I have a feeling Trevor’s going to be one of the main options for a while… Obviously its going to be a balanced attack, but he can definitely be the leading scorer. Also, Aaron Brooks has a good shot at becoming an All-Star this year. We’ll see what happens Rockets fans!
Surprised none of the commenting regulars have baited our most adant Olymp. Fan yet (yes, i’m looking at you, Fotsis). I mean, Wafer comes as close to a cartoon as Iverson/Marbury on the court right? Oh the irony. Kleiza, Greer, Childress, Bourousis, Papaloukas, now Wafer, is Athens gonna play with zwo balls?
Sorry Teddy, but anything Wafer can/could do with the Rockets will get replaced with the additions of Buddinger and Taylor. With those two you actually get better athletically, and you add two solid perimiter shooters as well as reducing salary cap over the long-term.
And you just CAN’T be having a (basically) first year player arguing with the coaching staff like Von did this year. That’s unacceptable even at a middle-school level.
And, if Deron Williams can’t get an all-star birth, then neither should Brooks. Sorry.
And everyone here KNOWS I’m a massive Houston fan, so I’m not just going to ‘throw salt’.
“Wafer comes as close to a cartoon as Iverson/Marbury on the court right?” -> NOT even close…
Nobody comes close to Marbury
On.the.court., Rikson. Not comparing out of his mind, Ustream Steph to Wafer. More the jack it up mentality (even though Steph used to be a good distributor early in his career.
Teddy, not underestimating him at all…he’s got all the skills you mentioned, unfortuntely mentally he’s not all there. He may not be crazy, but he’s not in control enough to make it work over a season. Yes, he had a good stretch, OFFENSIVELY. Defensively he was terrible. Literally leaving guys wide open for backdoor cuts leading to layups. Sure, all defenders give up points, but if Wafer were to be deducted the points he gives up without contesting at all, half his points would be wiped off, at least. For Adelman to cut his minutes again after a good stretch like that, you know there’s something else going on. One coach may be wrong, but 29 others can’t be.
And if tmac is out 1-2 more months then that puts him back at the start of the season, is that what you meant? Or did you mean 1-2 months after opening day? From what i’ve seen and heard, i’d put him back around the first month of the season. I’d expect Scola to be the main scoring option, Ariza can expand his offense some, but i dont see him developing enough in one offseason to lead them in scoring. That may never even happen, he’s just a nicely rounded role player.
childress set a dangerous precedent[atleast for us nba fans]by jumping ships, now vonny…my advice to AI, pls dont, coz it’ll tarnish ur hall of fame career.
@ RV: I meant 1-2 after opening day. But I really don’t know how T-Mac is doing right now. Is he coming back in the first month of the season? If so, that’s great news for the Rockets. I almost forgot about Jermaine Taylor, I think he can fill Von Wafer’s role to some extent. Let’s not forget about Carl Landry either. He’s set to have a breakout season and just straight kick some @ss. I can feel it.
@ Hursty: If Brooks plays well enough I don’t see why Deron, Chris, and Aaron could all make the All-Star team. Of course, that’d be 3 point guards…
VON come to olympiakos and u will be a KING!!!
Hopefully Shane Battier won’t be so reticent to shoot anymore.
I have no particular opinion on Wafer as I am not really watching the NBA (I am from Greece) but if RV is right then there is absolutely no chance he’ll do anything special in Europe.. Perhaps 15ppg but lots of turnovers, which will make overall negative.. Josh Childress didnt do any better than that this year by the way.. But this guy (Josh) has NO mid-long shooting whatsoever..
Go get paid cuz you,ll be back in the NBA better and richer.
