Nellie Agrees With Monta on Backcourt

Ellis’s comments on Media Day may have come as a shock to a lot of people, but not his coach: “Coach Don Nelson talked to Ellis about his previous comments, and they agreed that teams with big shooting guards will make an Ellis-Curry backcourt improbable. Ellis ‘didn’t say anything that was untrue,’ Nelson said. ‘There will be plenty of times that they won’t be able to play with each other. I wouldn’t put them in a situation in which they couldn’t compete.’ On Day 1 of training camp, Ellis started with 6-5 off-guard Anthony Morrow, but Nelson said not to make much of the lineups yet.”

Stephen may end playing in a role more like his old man after all…(6th man).

  • niQ Posted: Sep.30 at 10:22 am
Why did they draft him then?

  • tavoris Posted: Sep.30 at 10:25 am
Monta…the writing is on the wall. ur on ur way out of GS.

  • Hussman25 Posted: Sep.30 at 10:30 am
Questionable pick anyway! Thought they would use that as trade bait, but Ellis was right the big 2 guards would kill the two of them on Offense!

Free Anthony Morrow and Anthony Randolph and Stephen Jackson and Monta Ellis and Kelenna Azibuike and Andris Biedrins!

” I wouldn’t put them in a situation in which they couldn’t compete”. Sounds like a challenge

  • LeoneL Posted: Sep.30 at 11:17 am
but Nelson said not to make much of the lineups yet. sounds like an understatement to me.

This is Don Nelson, who in some games last season played Stephen Jackson at Center, stating that he will always put his team in a position to compete. Maybe he just meant compete on offense…

Curry fell into the laps of GSW. They’d be silly not to take him given they didn’t think he’d be there. Curry isn’t a starter yet, anyhow. Even if he’s good enough, which we won’t know yet, he’d have to get past the Nellie stigma of rookies. If anything, this can serve Monta some good. Maybe re-light the fire that was extinguished because he hopped on a moped. Competition can only make Curry better, too.

Wow!! The Warriors are getting a lot of ink. Too bad they are garbage!

  • la huey Posted: Sep.30 at 2:24 pm
Don Nelson uses lineups like a 13 yr old on NBA Live so there isn’t a group of ballers I don’t believe he’d put out there.

Amen, Gametime Weezy. Run TMC was, indeed, the shiznit.

  • black pinoy Posted: Sep.30 at 3:55 pm
cmon..whyd they pick em anyway.. i guess theyre just stacking up on talent … they dont really care if

  • Z Posted: Sep.30 at 5:05 pm
i still wonder what the big fuss is about curry. yeah he can shoot. jj reddick had 27 ppg at duke in a tough acc. imagine how much he would have scored as the lone option in a very bad conference. yet he’s not much of an nba player. stephen curry has not displayed any pg skills and is not much of a defender. how is he better than a daniel gibson again? monta IS right. they can’t play together.

  • Klav Posted: Sep.30 at 5:27 pm
    Z ftw.

  • mdshuai33 Posted: Sep.30 at 6:15 pm
Donovan, they are getting the ink being they are phenomenal garbage.

  • Jukai Posted: Sep.30 at 9:05 pm
    Co-sign Klav co-signing Z

  • Blinguo Posted: Sep.30 at 9:19 pm
Teddy just traded away the team. Nellie would do the same, for a six pack of anything light.

The Warriors were one the most injured teams last year and still had one of the top offenses. If they stay healthy and Randolph improves they’ll challenge for a playoff spot. They don’t need Jackson with Azubuike and Morrow at sf. Trade Jackson for a talented big pg.

Still hope Monta will get his game back soon…. It was kind of sad to watch last season!
