No Repeat? Blame Ron Artest

Dude, you were gonna get blamed anyway. But kudos to you for taking it head on: ” This much he’s sure of — if his Lakers don’t repeat as NBA champions, fans can point their fingers at him. ‘They should. That’s exactly what should happen if we don’t repeat,’ the star forward said. ‘They won last year, and I’m the new addition. The fans expect to repeat. Everybody in LA expects a second ring. And if we don’t then yeah, they should point it right at me, throwing tomatoes and everything.’”

    Wow Ron. . .

  • boy sanchez Posted: Sep.22 at 9:45 am
Throwing tomatoes?! Can you imagine Ron Ron in a press conference with a tomato in his face?!

  • Klav Posted: Sep.22 at 10:12 am
If they don’t repeat, it’s more likely that it’s going to be Odom’s fault because he married Khloe. Stupid, he’s going to get distracted and fck it all up for everybody. At least Ron is taking on the responsibility on his shoulders, even if it won’t necessarily be his fault.

  • tavoris Posted: Sep.22 at 10:16 am
they were gonna blame you anyway, Ron.

  • TC Posted: Sep.22 at 10:20 am
Here is hope that Kim Kadashian shows up court side in every Laker home game. If that happens then this is gonna be the best season ever in LA history.

  • Jacqueline Mitchell Posted: Sep.22 at 10:23 am
Ron Ron you are so funny. P.S. It won’t be all your fault, Lamar and Khloe are “supposed” to get “married” this coming Sunday if he doesn’t show up for training camp on time,Blame him.

  • kadavour Posted: Sep.22 at 10:26 am
i would make a sex tape with Kim K.

  • johnblackk Posted: Sep.22 at 11:04 am
Haha…we saw what happened the last time fans threw stuff at Ron Ron.

  • YKnot Posted: Sep.22 at 11:21 am
Make sure they throw tomatoes and not beer!!!

  • niQ Posted: Sep.22 at 11:43 am
You know, the fact that there’s “doubt” in a championship is already a bad sign..lol

  • Young Chris MP3 Posted: Sep.22 at 12:06 pm
I might just blame the Celtics.

  • Z Posted: Sep.22 at 12:23 pm
Ron Artest was also surprised to see a lot of Lakers fans in San Diego because he thought they’d be all Warriors fans. Nevermind that SD is as southern as you can go in Cali and Oakland is way up north. He also asked if SD had a baseball team… while wearing a SD baseball hat.

  • Wayno Posted: Sep.22 at 12:24 pm
Might be blaming Cleveland, Orlando, Boston, or San Antonio…

  • riggs Posted: Sep.22 at 12:55 pm
    get those tomatoes ready folks

  • Brad Long Posted: Sep.22 at 1:27 pm
Have I mentioned that I love Ron Artest?

  • kobesbestfriend Posted: Sep.22 at 1:48 pm
we’ll only blame him if he runs in 2 the stands

  • doyouwantmore Posted: Sep.22 at 1:52 pm
Ha, what a dumb thing to say. He’s not crazy he’s just sort of dumb. Phil Jackson is going to be bald and withered by the end of the year dealing with this guy. He doesn’t have Jordan to keep his bad boy in line this time. Yes, he has Kobe, but I’ve watched Kobe play and son, He’s No Jordan.

  • Mike Klander Posted: Sep.22 at 2:17 pm
I wouldn’t be so quick to take on that kind of pressure Artest. Truth be told I don’t see him being that important in the Lakers current rotation. Even though he can score they don’t need him too. Just do what you do best, defend, and leave it at that. Don’t gas this man’s head up by having him think he’s that much of a difference maker.

  • tavoris Posted: Sep.22 at 2:42 pm
Brad, I love the guy too. There is no guess what he’s really feeling. LA is gonna be FUN with him around.

  • Chris Posted: Sep.22 at 2:50 pm
I fk love Ron Artest. Him and Starbury make the NBA interesting during the summer.

  • Ramon Ariel Posted: Sep.22 at 3:56 pm
hahahahah throw tomatoes at him and we will have another fight in the bleachers.

  • J Dizzle Posted: Sep.22 at 3:58 pm
@doyouwantmore. Just another sound byte from Ron Ron. Don’t take it too serious. If there’s anyone in the NBA fit to keep Ron on track, it’s Kobe. He knows how to win and he definitely knows how to make his teammates better. You can’t deny this. He’s no Jordan; Kobe is Kobe, and Kobe can lead his team and check his boy. He doesn’t need to be like Jordan. Sheesh. Jordans the most legendary player in the game, but that doesn’t mean he’s the only one capable of checking a guy like Ron. Stop living in the past, the dude don’t even play anymore.

  • COLT6 Posted: Sep.22 at 5:04 pm
I have hated the Lakers for as long as I can remember. I always sided with the other team they played against. Always. Needless to say, with the addition of Artest, the Lakeshow will give the entire league problems. Ron Ron can D up on Truth, VC, RJ or Manu and yes Ron Ron can help contain Bron Bron. Keep those tomatoes chilled. I smell repeat.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Sep.22 at 11:29 pm
I’m not that big of a Lakers fan (although I like Kobe and Artest), but I smell a repeat too.

  • pdxballer Posted: Sep.23 at 12:27 am
i know im in the minority on this, but ron artest is awesome also, just look at how far he’s come… i mean, was it really just two years he was demanding to be traded from sactown?

  • chintao Posted: Sep.23 at 4:52 am
doyouwantmore again raises the ignorance quotient. On what planet does one’s level of superstardom perfectly equate to one’s ability to manage volatile personalities?

  • rikson Posted: Sep.23 at 6:12 am
@chris To be truth, they dont make the NBA interesting during summer! They just cant shut up (which is really anoying if the people talking are dump like those 2), put strange videos on the web and beeing involved in pseudo scandals…. If thats your interesting stuff during summer; boy, betta work out some plans cause that sounds kind of sad…..

  • letsmotor Posted: Sep.23 at 8:09 am
wow, that’s brave of him, considering a few other top competitors (Celtics and Cavs) got significantly better, and there’s still the Magic to worry about.

  • josh Posted: Sep.23 at 9:34 am
there will be a lot of blame to go around when they dont even make it to the finals.

  • letsmotor Posted: Sep.23 at 9:56 am
Josh, I hope you’re right, but what western conference team do you see getting to the finals if not the lakers?

  • ClydeSays Posted: Sep.23 at 12:29 pm
Why did the Lakers sign Artest over Ariza? Trevor might not be a choirboy, but he’s younger, healthier & seemingly sane. Ron has been a great defensive player, but he’s also living on Planet Ron for a long time now. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally entertained by his antics. A fave being when he showed up on BDSSP touting his new ‘isht-covered’ shoes. They scrambled like mad to get him off the air. It was hilarious & bizarre. But I don’t he’s the kind of guy anyone wants to ‘manage’ whatever his abilities. Something that’s being overlooked is that Ron’s been injury prone the past 5 seasons. He’s probably averaged something like 45-50 games per (including his suspension). Even if he’s a perfect student of the Triangle, history says he’ll miss a big chunk of games.

  • mar Posted: Oct.4 at 2:48 pm
it is so not artests fault if they do not reapeat it would would be kobes possible age bynm, and Lamar’s

  • [...] When not promoting his offcourt self, or explaining the reasoning behind his latest jersey number or weighing in on Tiger Woods, Artest’s been telling people to blame a non-Championship season on him. [...]
